The defective tire was a general ameri 550 as, size lt225/75r16. No crash or injuries were involved, but my left rear fender was obliterated. Mileage on the tire was 40,000 miles.

Over two years, I have had 3 belt failures on b. F goodrich lt 225/75 r16 tires. One failure resulted in a blowout the other two were detected by extreme vibration while driving on the highway. Notified b. F. Goodrich on the last failure. 3 failures of the same type seem above normal for a tire in this category. B. F. Goodrich stated that they have had no complaints of this typ of failure but agreed to give me a credit of 20% off a new tire based on the tread remaining on the old one.

Tire tread separation blow out with body damage.
While driving 70 mph, the rear driver side tire tread separated. As a result, the vehicle swerved. However, the consumer maintained control. This was the fourth tire. The belts slipped and there were separations.

Tire/tread separation on a firestone lt245/75r16. Right rear wheel (the tire did not loose air pressure). This tire was original equipment on a 2000 Chevrolet passenger van - less than 25000 miles.
The right rear tire tread separated while driving 70 mph resulting in loss of control and an accident. A passenger died and an other was in critical condition.
While traveling 65mph on the highway. Without prior warning the consumer heard a noise. He was able to pull over to the shoulder. And both front tires trend separted. The tires are general tires lt245/75r16 m/s/120/116r. Nlm.

Pe00 020; consumer was traveling about 55mph on highway and heard a noise. He was able to pull vehicle over to shoulders . Left rear driver's side tire tread had separated from tire. Firestone, steeltes r4s, lt245/75r16. There were no injuries.
While vehicle was being driven tread separated on the rear tire , also other tires were showing signs of cracking and tread separation. Ameri star tire size lt22575r16m+s dot number ad1lcwa285. The remaining tires were inspected and were found to have tread cracks and splits. The manufacturer wants the damaged tire to be returned for processing the claim.
Driving 60mph heard a loud pop. Pulled over & saw the left rear tire had lost all tread. Tread had hit vehicle & bent fender. Part of tread was still on tire which had deflated. Placed spare on. Took vehicle to tire retailer & had it replaced. Other 3 tires were okay. 1997, Chevrolet 3500(replacement) with 13,000 miles. Firestone, steel tex, r4s lt 265/75r16, dot vnw81xm278.

Original equipment on a 1998, C3500, lt245/75r16 size. Tread on all four tires separated at highway speeds, causing damage to vehicle. Consumer states the left rear tire's tread completely separated and did not go flat, other 3 tires tread was twisted.
