This has happened numerous times. Brake pedal will have no pressure and car will take extra distance to stop. This happens when it is wet or at low speeds wet or dry.
A police officer witnessed the accident. The car was turning right on a slight downhill grade. The weigh shifted forward, locking up the abs system, causing the car to continue forward with no pull ot traction to complete the turn. This loss of control at normal speeds may have caused similar accident several months ago. There was no ticket issued. The cause was listed as "locking of the abs braking system". We believe that the gm abs system has a high degreee of probability of being very dangerous. We would like to know how many similar reports have been lodged and recommend a factory replacement or adjustment to this potentiually dangerous system in the 1996 cars. Is there a known fix to this?.
