I was at a stop light at a busy intersection. Once traffic was clear, I made a right turn into the right lane. I began to pick up speed coming out of the turn and the engine began to rev. Before it could reach 1000 rpm, the engine shut off completely. I was able to coast to parking lot. The power steering had disengaged as well so turning became very hard. There was no noticable issues as I had driven earlier that day. Gas tank was half full.
While driving the vehicle, it shut itself completely off. The vehicle quit driving and I was unable to accelerate but was able to pull over. The dash display went completely blank and it was as though the power had been completely shut off. At times the key has been difficult to remove after parking the vehicle, but this seemed to be a different issue. After the car shut down, I pulled over and put the gear in park. I then removed the key, reinserted the key, restarted the car and it worked fine. It was very unsafe for the car to randomly just quit driving/working. Luckily I was in a residential area with little traffic.
The car shuts off while driving it's a safety hazard from different reviews I have read it has to do with the key module. But it shuts off randomly while driving.
Purchased Camaro LS 2015 - June 26, 2015 car milage at time of first incident 115 miles stalled x 3 #1 July 2, 2015 while driving 20 miles per hour (engine shut down, put car in neutral and stopped, car restarted). #2 July 3, 2015 while driving 45 miles per hour in moderate traffic (engine shut down, put in neutral while driving, car restarted). #3 July 3, 2015 while driving home, another engine shut down in moderate to heavy traffic at 45 miles per hour, put in neutral while driving, car restated). Each of the above shut down events showed no rpm with sudden slowing of vehicle in traffic. I avoided the brakes for fear of increasing risk of rear end collusion. if such an event occurred on a freeway on moderate to heavy traffic, at a speed of 65 miles per hour would create a seriously unsafe situation. The car is unsafe and I had the dealership pick up the car from my home 7-6-15.
