Door Latch problems of the 1996 Chevrolet Cavalier

Four problems related to door latch have been reported for the 1996 Chevrolet Cavalier. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Door Latch problem

Failure Date: 06/10/2003

Child safety lock will not undo on the rear passenger door. Mechanic could not repair.

2 Door Latch problem

Failure Date: 07/01/1999

While driving 50-60 mph the door on the driver's side opened. This happened when driver's daughter leaned against the door lightly. Dealer/manufacturer were notified about the problem. Lock assembly was replaced by the dealership at owner's expense. Please provide any further information.

3 Door Latch problem

Failure Date: 04/05/1999

Driver's and front passenger's door latches became inoperable. The dealer has replaced the latches. Manufacturer has been notified.

4 Door Latch problem

Driver side back door lock doesn't work.
