Front Air Bag problems of the 1996 Chevrolet Cavalier

- the contact has a 1996 Chevrolet Cavalier. While driving both driver and passenger air bags deployed. The driver injured his arm when air bag deployed and crashed the vehicle. After contacting the dealer, the dealer stated he has no recall records for his vehicle prior to 2003.

1996 Chevrolet Cavalier passenger air bag inadvertently deployed striking the consumer's 9 year old son in the face. The vehicle was traveling at 20 mph.

Fuel pump seal disintegrated. Cost $1,081. 00 (including 3 day car rental). Earlier this year there was a recall on the steering column and I wound up paying an additional $600 for other defects not covered by the recall. Think that this and many additional problems on this car constitute it being a lemon. More than 5 recalls in 7 years.

Both air bags deployed while parked. Dealer and manufacturer were notified. Feel free to provide any further information.

Was driving 25mph and was starting to turn into driveway, when both air bags deployed without warning. The driver's air bag exploded with a lot of smoke & caused the driver to suffer burns on chest. Nlm two people were injured.

While driving 25 mph on a gravel road both airbags deployed, then exploded. Driver and passenger suffered burns on face and chest.

Recall9v146000/air bag deployment received on April 13, 2000. While traveling at highway speed of 45 mph, a deer jumped on hood of vehicle and broke front windshield. While the vehicle was at a stop, both air bags deployed. The deployed air bags ruptured 2 discs of the driver's neck.

Stopped at a red light, wife was in another car in front, and consumer was hit from rear. Upon impact, airbags didn't deploy.

Vehicle was involved in a crash, impact front side by pickup truck. Neither airbag deployed upon impact. Dealer contacted and is aware of the problem. Problem still exists.

Consumer was traveling on the highway,. While slowing down to approximately 20 mph, all of a sudden the air bags deployed for no reason, causing injury to consumer's neck/back and spine. Passenger's air bag smashed out front windshield. Dealer/manufacturer notified, and had nothing postive to say. Also vehicle was part of a manufacturer's recall concerning air bag deployment. Consumer did not receive a recall notice. Nhtsa recall # 98v 146 000. Seeking NHTSA for help in this matter.

Head-on collision at 60 mph, hit tree right in middle of the hood, neither air bag deployed. Driver, 17 years old, suffered severe internal and facial injuries, passenger,12 years old, suffered compound fracture of leg.

Recall 98v146; while driving at 55 mph the vehicle moved to right and the airbag deployed unexpectedly without a frontal impact, causing an accident. Called manufacturer prior to the accident. Manufacturer stated that vehicle was covered by the recall. After the accident contacted manufacturer and they stated vehicle was not included in the recall.

Driving vehicle 30-35mph when air bags deployed for no reason, on a dirt road. Took to dealer & offered waiver for repairs. Sustained injuries to arm.

Passenger's air bag deployed and broke windshield. No accident occurred. Violent deployment.

While pulling into a parking space at 5 mph, tapped a light pole and both the air bags deployed. The windshield was cracked in the process. Insurance company had vehicle repaired.

Making a left turn around a corner on a city street and about 50 to 100 feet the airbags exploded (no bumps were hit and streets were smooth, consumer is experiencing slight hearing loss and ring in the left hear.

Pe97041; while driving about (10) mph and making a right turn, the air bags on the driver's and passenger's side deployed for no apparent reason. This caused driver to crash into the rear of another vehicle. The air bags have been replaced.

Driving about 65 mph & another vehicle hit passenger's side; air bag deployed & hit shoulder/chin and console; bounced to meridian; seat belt around neck; seat belt did not restrain driver in normal position; face continued towards console. At dealer prior & told was problem & ordering parts.

Driving at 10-15mph on a smooth surface the air bags deployed and blew out the driver's and passenger's side door windows.

Consumer was traveling at 10 mph hit a cement base telephone pole when the air bags deployed, causing the windshield to break and also injuries to the consumer.

Air bag takes up the whole wheel can bearly find the horn which makes horn very hard to press. Please describe details. Tt.
