Five problems related to brake foundation components have been reported for the 1998 Chevrolet Cavalier. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Consumer experienced shaking in the front when braking, dealer turned rotors and found that 60% of brake pads were left, consumer is worried that this happened with such low mileage on vehicle.
Brakes failed, spring broken.
Brakes failed inspection.
Whenever brakes are applied, can hear rear brakes scrubbing. The problem is intermittent. They would hold sometimes.
During wet weather the brake pedal is very hard when pressed and you must apply excessive force to get the vehicle to stop. Had pads deglazed and rotors resurfaced but the problem continues during wet weather.
