One problem related to hatchback/liftgate lock has been reported for the 1998 Chevrolet Cavalier. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
The design of vehicle has an latch on the driver's side to release the hatchback, but does not have a release button / latch to open on the inside which caused two children to be stuck inside vehicle almost resulting in death, injury to hand due to failure.
