1 Tailgate Latch problem of the 2001 Chevrolet C/k Pickups

Failure Date: 10/01/2003

I have a 2001 Chevrolet silverado 1500 and the tailgate straps broke while I was standing on the tailgate. Upon further investigation, it became obvious that both cables had corroded to the point of failure. I presented this to my local dealer and they were happy to sell my replacement parts and wish me the best of luck. This is unacceptable as the replacement parts are no better than the original parts. I am going to have to replace these every other year at $100/set.

2 Tailgate Latch problem of the 1998 Chevrolet C/k Pickups

Failure Date: 04/07/2002

Tailgate cables broke while loading furniture onto truck. Damaged truck bed and injured two family members from the cables breaking upon loading furniture into bed of fairly new truck with only 30 thousand miles on it. (29,995) .
