2-3 weeks ago I got in my car to go somewhere. From the time I pulled out of my driveway my car was in limp mode. At the same time my check engine light, air bag light, power steering light, service traction light and theft light all came on. I got my car back to the house and when I shut it off it would not start back. I hooked it up to the obd2 scanner and the codes that came back were p1682( faulty ignition switch) and code u0101(transmission control module).
Turn signals totally uncontrollable and/or inoperable before, during and after turning, engine light on continuous and not able to detect reasons, dealership rejected request to identify cause and effect of engine light, car making poping sounds, ignition switch recall not addressed. The only known recall repair and or record of repair is for fuel leakage. All "in motion" related problems. Problems come out of no where and ongoing.
Coming to a stop at a stop sign in my neighborhood, about to turn right when my locks started locking/unlocking on their own repeatedly. My power steering goes out, check engine light comes on, and traction control light activates. . My dash flashes service traction /power steering. Speedometer stops working.
The air bag depleyed causing me to wreak and I broke 4 rib and my sterum.
The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt. While driving approximately 70 mph, the check engine, tbs, battery, and traction control warning indicators illuminated. In addition, the steering wheel shook violently. The contact had to maneuver to the shoulder to a complete stop. The vehicle shut down on its own and the contact was not able to remove the key from the ignition switch. The vehicle did not restart. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence and was not diagnosed by the dealer or an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was unknown. The approximate failure mileage was 142,000.
Im driving and all the gauges go wacko swinging back and forth, anti theft light comes on check engine light abs light low fuel light traction light. It reads service traction power steering low fuel every light you can think of comes on and the car even jerks when changing into gear. At times the steering even has locked up on me, thank god at those times I was on a residential street and not freeway. At times it wont even start all the lights are just going basurk. Then theres days where its normal like it never even happened. Im afraid its going to lock up on me on the freeway and im going to have a serious accident!! the 2 recalls that my vechicle had have already been replaced but there is still issues!! this car needs to be completely recalled, I researched the issue im having and found out many many other people are having the same issue. Some people have even died!!! others major accidents, what more has to happen for this vehicle to be recalled? how many more people have to loose their lives?? this is a serious issue that needs to be taken care of ASAP!!! and when this issue occurs with the lights and gauges going crazy it happens as im driving. I pray nothing happens to my 3 yr old daughter and I. This issue has been happening for about an year now off and on.
Powersteering loss all warning lights come on. Many many people are experiencing this problem and gm wont help!!! this car is a death trap wish someone would help us all who are experiencing this!!!.
Fuel gauges go crazy, the gas acceleration and speed gauges sometimes do not work and if the do they go up and down. All the lights I my dashboard light up as well. This usually happens when you turn on the car but it is not constant. It will sometimes happen two weeks in a row, but sometimes after two weeks. The gas tank is also leaking and the left speaker goes out sometimes. Once in a while my keys will get stuck in the ignition.
See attachment. . . . . Have invoices for 3 times car at dealers including original recall.
I own a 2007 chevy Cobalt, which has recently been experiencing problems with the traction control system. At highway speeds, the traction control light turns on, and the engine stalls. This is an ongoing problem, and recently, I have not been able to get the car to start at all. I believe this to be a serious and potentially life threatening issue. I have done research on Cobalt traction control failures, and I know this to not be an isolated event. Some experts estimate that the majority of Cobalts suffer from serious and potentially life threatening traction control failures. In all respects, this is a problem that requires a recall.
Tl- the contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt. The contact stated that while driving, all of the gauges inadvertently malfunctioned lost power in the steering and brakes. The contact then stated that the keys was locked int the ignition that caused the battery to drain. The contact stated that he was able to remove the key from the ignition however, the gear shifter failed to shift in park. As a result, the parking brake was placed on. The vehicle was taken to morehart murphy Chevrolet GMC Buick at (970) 247-2121 located at 30 parker Ave, durango, CO 81303 where no diagnostic failure codes were found and the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was provided a case number 8-367-733-9822. The approximate failure mileage was 78,000. Lt.
Power steering not fixed on open recall in 2010 power steering rack failure caused an accident in motion 3rd party dealership diagnosed the problem with the power steering rack failure, but was unable to fix.
The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt. The contact stated that the front end of the vehicle shook intermittently. The vehicle was taken to a dealer and it was determined that the front bushings, electronic stability control, steering column, and the front driver and passenger side lower control arms needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The failure mileage was 100,000.
Received notice of recall. Took my car to dealership service center. Still have not heard anything in regards to the part being available. I took everything off the keyring as suggested. Since then I have locked myself out of my home and car. This has been a terrible inconvenience for me. It is easier when my keys are together for sure! I am a patient person but for goodness sakes! I cannot keep worrying about locking myself out of car and home everyday for who knows how long. Please!!!!!! when are the parts going to be available?.
This is the third time my chevy Cobalt 2007 has been recalled. The first time was for the gas tank, the second was for power steering, and the newest recall, the ignition switch, has killed 13 people who owned my vehicle. I'm extremely upset with Chevrolet. I didn't even find out about the ignition switch recall until I took my car to chevy to consider buying a new car from them because I have always felt oddly unsafe in my car. Now I know why. Also, the fact that chevy knew about these recalls for more than a decade is an outrage.
The traction control light has turned on several times before but usually goes away. While hitting my brakes on the freeway to exit, my traction control light turned on today. I was going about 60 and slowing when it happened. The vehicle jerked violently causing me to slam forward in my chair and almost causing the person behind me to hit me. Once I stopped at the light and hit the accelerator again, it again jerked. I parked my car and shut it off. I turned it back on and put it into drive and immediately the car jolts. It continues to do this each time I switch from park to drive and from braking to driving.
I own a 2007 chevy Cobalt. In 2013 my car went crazy. Power steering stopped working and all the electric components were all over the place. Rpm's were going up and down, full tank of gas said it was empty, gear shifter was clicking, and the car was jerking like it wanted to stall. I called chevy and they told me there were 2 recalls, during the same time my garage smelled strong like gas. I had the problem fixed twice. Now in December 2016 the car is going haywire again. Power steering goes out, all electric components start flipping out and the anti theft system light comes on along with every other light on the dash. My 17 year old daughter now drives the car and it is completely unsafe considering she is unable to steer and all the electric components go out. This must be treated as a recall! I've seen thousands of the same complaints. This is extremely unsafe and can easily cause an accident. Gm needs to take responsibility for this! does someone have to die before a recall fixes the problem? I paid cash for my car and bought it in 2007 with 12 miles on it. This is unacceptable and there needs to be a lawsuit against gm!.
I few years back, my car headlights started to stay on even after cutting the car off. I started taking the fuses out in order for my lights to cut off. This problem still exists, the lights may work correctly and cut off automatically for about 3 months, but in still have to resort to taking my fuses in and out for my lights to work. I had problems with the ignition about 3 years ago, but they had a recall for that. After they fixed my ignition, about a couple months later I started having problems with my car starting to hesitate and cut off. Check engine light has been coming on, now there are problems with the transmission.
I have a 2007 chevy Cobalt took it in in July 2010 to have power stering unit replacet as per recal notice I received was not having any problem with the one presently on the vehicle. In Dec 2010 started noticing problems with the stering locking up got an appointment with the local dealer where I live which was not until Jan 2011 due to holidays dropped of my vehicle to be checked when I picked it up was told the power stering unit was bad and they would have to order it then they told me I would have to pay for it was not covered by warrenty the new part they had put on in July 2010 was only six months old called gm coustermer service and was told vehicle had to many miles on it and cost of replacing would not be covered it is my understanding that there has been multiple issues of the same type since 2005 and has not been corredted my question is how many other people have had the same proble I am having after the unit has been replaced my other concern is what will happen if we lose power stering while driving my safety and others on the road may be at risk if this happens.
I have had problems from beginning. We never received recall notice. Not two months after having purchased this vehicle the power steering started to fail (our son was a little over 2-1/2 years old. I had to pull over as fast as I could to keep us from crashing. I was never notified of a recall on this vehicle by notice only by the failure of this vehicle. The car was brought in and serviced. Hence bulletin #10023 (power steering motor) performed on 5/25/2010. Problem 2 I have had with this vehicle: the mechanic told me where I get my oil changed that there was a recall on Cobalt for that problem, so I researched it only to be told there was "no recall" so to speak on my VIN#- -my mother was told there was again no recall that matched my VIN number the chevy Cobalt had to have the fuel pump replaced because it was leaking gas. Additionally, the fuel injector was replaced as well because it's also part of that recall and the one that was on the car was cracked and leaking. This could have caused more than a fire--it could have blown up while I was driving. Yet again the liaison provided me with this: #12191 (fuel tank module) performed on 10/10/2012. On to the third recall- low the current recall, 13454, is now showing for your VIN and we are sending out notices this week with more specific information. The door handle on the driver side has all but fallen off, out of warranty again the dealer and was told there were no recalls, so around turns and corners my car gets loud. Don't even let me get started the upholstery in this vehicle because water alone stains it. Along with the struts making noises when the car turns, the a/c issue having that replaced, the breaks, the rotors turned when does it stop. I also found that it was very possible the airbag situation was due to the electrical problems as well (hence the faulty ignition kill switch).
2007 chevy Cobalt: electronic power steering system fails during normal operation of the vehicle. This is dangerous and should be recalled.
Power steering failure, power steering locks up and power steering flashes on communication system after hearing 3 dings. Also smell gas in car smell is very heavy at times, this is a 2007 chevy Cobalt and car is not under warranty.
My 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt lt VIN# [xxx] with 31209 miles on it just had major complete loss of power steering. I checked this out on the internet and come to find out that this has been a big problem with the Chevrolet Cobalt since 2005. I have read that dealerships can't repair the problem even though they replace complete steering controls and ecm's. So here I am not knowing what to do and afraid to drive vehicle. I notice you have the question "number of persons injures:" below on this form. Well not physical but mental: so I am listing 2. Please tell me what to do? information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
