1 Suspension Noise problem

Failure Date: 02/22/2014

The engine turned off all by itself while I was driving around a corner, causing the car to go off the road. I was going about 35 mph, and applied the brakes as fast as I could, but the car went up and over the curb, across the sidewalk, and both front tires went down off the steep edge of the sidewalk's far side into the mud. The part of the car body immediately behind the front tires was almost touching (way less than 1 inch above) the edge of the top / edge of the sidewalk. I couldn't reverse back up and over the sidewalk edge. A tow truck was called, and pulled the car straight back and up/over the edge of the sidewalk and onto the road. Some sort of dust cover thing from up inside the passenger-side wheel well had been torn loose during the crash off the sidewalk edge and was still laying in the mud. After I restarted the car and drove home, the steering / suspension (I cannot tell which) made a creaking and grinding sort of noise when turning, and I could tell from the extensive bouncing at even little bumps in the road that both front struts had been damaged.

2 Suspension Noise problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2011

I purchased the car brand new in 2007. I noticed at about 20,000 miles the front suspension started to make lots of clunking noises and rattling whenever I went over bumps in the road. I took the car into the chevy dealer and they said nothing was wrong with the car. The car now has 42,000 miles on it and the noise is still there. There is also a really awful noise when I apply the brakes and release them the car jerks like the brakes are gonna fall off the car. I recently took the car to a mechanic and he said the bushings need to be replaced and possibly the struts and control arm. The mechanic said the car should not be having those problems with the cars current mileage. He recommended I take it to the dealer ship but my warranty has since expired and the dealer ship will not fix the car.

3 Suspension Noise problem

Failure Date: 10/10/2009

I am writing because I did get the recall on my vehicle of the power steering , the motor kit was fixed on 8/12/10. I took my car to midas on 10/24/2009 for a noise bumping noise coming from my vehicle and fuel/oil leaking. They said it was my struts, and they had to be replaced. I paid $500. 31 for that repair all receipts and invoices on hand. On 4/25/2011 I took my car to tire discounters only to find that I needed 2 lower control arm bushings(7) labor for suspension service. My total cost was $339. 12. I just pulled up recalls on my vehicle and I noticed that people where saying there struts had to be replaced to and the had problems with their power steering suspension. From what I have seen a faulty power steering is a component of a larger the larger suspension and if left unfixed it could lead to other major problems. If this is true why are we not getting reimbursed for these very expensive repairs? I saw where they may have recalled the whole suspension, so does that mean that I can get these repairs reimbursed?.

4 Suspension Noise problem

Failure Date: 06/08/2009

Chevy Cobalt front end rattling suspension noise.

5 Suspension Noise problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2008

Since about 40k miles, the front end started clunking over potholes, like it was metal hitting metal; now at over 80k they both clunk. One mechanic said struts were gone, and another the bushings failed. A major suspension component, which I suspect is a bushing from the sound, should not fail at 40k-and I am simply hoping for a recall, as this also interferes with safe handling and causes car to wobble across rough roads. One dealer said have zone person look at-but I believe the defect is widespread, and so they are treating as a case-by-case situation. It is an obvious problem in manufacture. Had a Toyota before-no major issues even at 237k!!.

6 Suspension Noise problem

Failure Date: 06/28/2007

I own a 2007 chevy Cobalt. There is a problem with the front end making the car shimmy and shake upon braking. . . Causes clunking noises and such. I have researched online whether or not other owners of said vehicle have been having this problem as well and it seems to me that this problem is occurring with many owners of this vehicle. Some have spent thousands on repairs and still the problem is there. I have been told by a certified chevy mechanic that the problem lies in the steering column. Please examine this issue further as I feel it is recall worthy. Thank you for your time regarding this issue as owning a safe reliable vehicle is of utmost importance to me and those I share the road with. . Read more...
