Our vehicle has had zero accidents the airbag light showed up on dashboard stating check airbags. Then as far as electrical the headlights seem to turn on there own at times. We feel this perhaps is a recall not known yet.
When the driver's side window on my 2008 chevy Cobalt is fully open/down, the "service air bag" warning light comes on. This seems to be the exact same issue that resulted in a recall on the 2010 model (NHTSA campaign number: 15v500000). When I called Chevrolet corporate customer service regarding this, they explained the model years were manufactured the same, and the reason my year did not have a recall could be that there were not enough reported complaints on it. It is very concerning, since as my dealer indicated, the airbag system seems to be disabled when in this condition. I put today's date as the when the incident occurred, but it's been a condition for the last few years.
My speedometer jumps and shows a message of power steering. It makes my fuel line jump as well. I've recently gotten my starter fixed because my car wouldn't start. My tire warning stays on and my tires are new and set at the right psi. My abs comes and goes all the time and nothing needs to be fixed. My car jerks really hard when all of this is going on.

I was driving alone paying attention in daylight and suddenly I was knocked/startled and vision blocked and I was saying out loud OH god what is going on-what is happeningy/I was trying to figure out where I was - next I heard my car crunching-and still going to where I exited right side of road and turned on drivers side and slid across 2 lane road-hitting a raiseded bed of 2b 3b gravel and turned back up on 4 wheels. The slanted hill next to a small ditch-about5 ft approximately off road. This all happened very quickly. There was no crash until after I was hit by airbag. Severely crashed passenger side windshield shattered/no airbag went off. Police and by standers assuming zi lost control and could see where I was headed. I never mentioned to police how I felt airbag went off. I knew their theory didn't match what I felt happened but after going back to scene my scenario from my memory is the only one I can verify. Not sure now what happens to vehicle now after I get my check today. I wasn't sure where to report. I did mention in text to adjuster but it is my understanding adjuster didn't get text ?? this just needed to be noted.
My service airbags light keeps comming on it started once it hit 90 thousand miles.
(ad missing dealer) tl the contact owns a 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt. While driving 40 mph, the vehicle accelerated rapidly without warning and crashed into a concrete guardrail three times. Power steering completely fails while parallel parking or when car is stationary and you try to turn the wheel, its impossible to steer. Scary to think if it happens on highways. Started a year ago and now its permanent.
I just bought 2008 chevy Cobalt. The seller reported the mileage initially as 112,000. At time of purchase, 150,000 approximately. However there was/is no way to view mileage on dash of car, with the exception of briefly prior to starting the vehicle. It actually shows approximately 159,000 km. Conversion of km into miles says 98,000. In addition to mileage discrepancy, there is a very strong smell of gas inside the car, the steering wheel is upside down, 2 or 3 motor and or transmission mounts are broken or not attached, right front rotor bad, no functioning blinkers or brake lights, dash lights indicate svc tire monitor needs attention, air bags need serviced, brake light stays on, the trunk release isn't working, the wiring is questionable, only one speaker works, no stereo antennae, no horn, no way to view critical engine information, such as temperature or battery life. Service engine light on constantly, seller indicated all recalls had been addressed and he was supposed to be responsible for taxes on vehicle which were included in price, but I wound up paying back registration fees from 2014. All attempts to right this have been ignored. Seller implies that the Chevrolet dealership left the car in the current condition.
Power steering went out while I was driving at a speed of 45 mph. I checked fuse and it was blown. I then but new fuse in and started car. The second I started the car the fuse blew again. The strang thing was that even tho the fues had blown the power steering continued to work until the car was shut off. Also my radio started changing stations by itself and airbag warning came across the dash then a couple days after that started I went to start the car and it wouldn't. Radio, outside lights and blinkers, interior lights, and dash lights would all still work, but it seemed that no power was getting to the starter nor the fule pump. At this time the car still won't start.
My 21 year old sons car is on the recall 14v047 and 14v171. I got a letter several months back that it was on recall and of course it is on the news. I got 2nd letter yesterday. When I called lakeside Chevrolet in rockwall I was given a vm for these recalls and they said they would order the part and it could take up to 90 days. My concern is 2 years ago this was a recall. We went to jupiter Chevrolet in garland and they said OH no igniation is fine its his key. At that time was a "possible recall". They made him a new key and charged him $39. 00. At that time when he went in you had to shake column around to get key to work. I am now thinking with all the deaths shouldn't that car be recalled and shouldn't they be hurrying to get them fixed instead of waiting 90 day. Please help with this situation.

I was driving on the everett turnpike in nh. There was a soccer net in the middle of the highway. The cars in front of me had stopped and I tried to stop, but because my power steering was out along with my anti-lock brakes. I couldn't stop. I hit the car in front of me and my airbags didn't deploy. Luckily the only damage done was psychological. If I were an inexperienced driver than I would have died. . I have already had my power steering fixed once and now it has been recalled again. The car as a whole should be recalled. I don't feel safe driving it after they fix a problem that has already happened twice,.

On Tuesday morning I went to pick up my mail and I notice something hanging from my car ceiling inside the car when I went to take a look, it look like my airbag from the passenger side from front all the way back are deployed. There was no accident nor anyone attempt to steel the car. I’m 70 years old imagine if this thing deployed while I’m driving, for sure there will be someone dead. I contacted GMC to help me out so far they keep saying they will send an inspector to take a look but this will not happen for another week or so. So I can’t drive the car for safety issues and they will not give me a rental car. What if there is an emergency and I do need a car what then? I’m not happy with the service that they providing me. This issue should not be taken lightly, if it happen to someone else for sure there will be a fidelity.

Airbag : warning intermittently comes on. . Then resets on the next ignition start. Then will reappear again. Suspension: severe clunking in front end only when turning or maneuvering . This vehicle has done 46k miles total.
While heading south on 8 mile road in cincinnati, ohio. My car went out of control. When the car landed against the guard rail I was heading north. This is the second accident this year with this car. First one was Feb. 2010 odi #10307249. I was going about 35 mph , it had stopped raining and the street was still a little wet. The recall of the steering motor, had been replaced. My concern now the none of the air bags deployed. The car will more than likely be totaled. Which would be a good idea to get this lemon off the road.
Accident December 02,2009 no air bags deployed fatality in accident.
I got the car new, with 13 miles on it, in 2008. The " service airbag " light came on and stayed on. I did get it checked when I went in for service, and the light went off for 4 days, and then it has been on ever since, when I went again for service, I mentioned it, they said they would look at it. They did nothing.
