1 Body problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2017

Issue #1) fuel leak from top of fuel tank. This creates a strong fuel smell in cabin during any operation, and fuel leaking on driveway after operation. Fumes are strong enough that any open flame in cabin would detonate creating death and/or critical injury. The fuel pump has been replaced once in Aug 2017 costing over $600 dollars. Issue #2) both interior front door handles have broken resulting in doors being unable to open doors normally. To open doors, windows must be cranked down opening doors using the outside handle. The failure area is where door latch cable connects to rear of door handles. Both door handles have been replaced, but replaced service handles have sharp edges from plastic flash. Both issues are critical to safe vehicle operation. This could result in death and/or critical injury if either issue fails during any vehicle operation. As a disabled veteran, husband and father, both vehicle issues are dangerous and lack the resources to keep repairing these failures. An investigation, recall and/or replacement is needed ASAP.

2 Body problem

Driver's door interior handle broke or became disconnected today, prohibiting exit from the car at that door. Can be opened from outside handle.

3 Body problem

Failure Date: 05/26/2016

At 3:30am, the front passenger side douglas performance gt-h tire 195/60r15 88h tire spontaneously exploded while sitting in my garage. It bent the metal frame around the wheel well, blew the headlight out completely, and caused damage to the interior of the wheel well.

4 Body problem

Failure Date: 10/29/2015

The hood latch hook part of the hood is rusting to a point where its ready to break off which will lead to the hood being opened when driving.

5 Body problem

Failure Date: 07/13/2015

Clear coat on the front bumper is coming off really bad. The paint seems to stay on the bumper but progressively flakes off more every day. It starts as a small spot then expands like a virus. The underside of the driver and passenger doors begin to rust and are spreading to the outer parts of the doors and body. The interior lighting for the center-console (climate control) burn out fast and fail to illuminate the rest of the buttons. Seat belts wear out excessively fast and the buttons that stop the belt buckle fall out prematurely. -------- *this problem is found on the Cobalt sport 2008 2. 4l (manual).

6 Body problem

Failure Date: 10/03/2013

Sliding on slippery road. Fishtailed, not sure if steering locked up. With the front of my car, hit another car in the side. No airbags deployed. Concerned about the recall with the Cobalt at this time.

7 Body problem

Failure Date: 02/21/2011

On February 21th, 2011, I was driving on the I-95 expressway. Suddenly, I lost the control of my car which was hit by another car driven by carlos f. Sentmanat (case # fhpl11off010691). On June seventh, 2010, my wife had similar accident with her 2006 chevy Cobalt. The fact that both crashes were so similar made dubious about our responsibility on them. I asked to inspect my vehicle twice (3/25/11 and 4/9/11), but inspectors said that my car was ok. On December 12, 2011 I presented a complaint to f. H. S. M. V. D. M. S. (complaint #42575), on December 16, 2011 its answer was; your complaints do not fall within its jurisdiction. Dejected, I did not forward any more action. I have just received from gm a warning about a defect which relates to motor vehicles safety exists in 2005-2007 model year (my) Chevrolet Cobalt, then I read on tv news, and internet, that gm issued that it’s possible that the air bags might not deploy if there is an accident. In this moment we realized that both the 2006 and 2008 chevy Cobalt air bags’ did not deploy, regardless both vehicles crashes were on front bumper allstate insurance paid the amount of $6440. 58 to repair my car. We have received a significant amount of letters from lawyers and allstate insurance dealing with injures damages and monetary compensation. Allstate paid to mr. Sentmanat the sum of $10 000, consequently our allstate insurance premium was raised substantially. This entire situation had caused stress, economic problems and lack of confidence in both my wife I. Because both crashes happened in the afternoon rush hour, I-95 traffic was crowded and slow, but in other conditions and as consequence of air bag malfunction my wife and might have died. For the reasons explaining above I, the writer, demand from gm a monetary compensation for the psychological, legal, and monetary problems caused by my car malfunction.
