5 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 11/15/2016

We had our battery replaced in our vehicle November 15, 2016. Since that time our "service passenger airbag" light has come one. We took it to our mechanic on 3/3/2017 and he reported that we needed a new module that would correct the service passenger airbag light. We drove our car home and before we even got home the service light had returned. We took it back the next business day and they checked it again and said we needed a new sensor for the passenger seat. Since that time we have not taken it back as we are wondering if that will just require another electronic fix. Does this effect the seat belt working correctly? if so, I think this is a very dangerous situation.

8 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 09/06/2015

I noticed that there was no turn signal sound indicating the turn signal was in use. At the same time I also noticed that all of the warning indicator sounds were also not working (set belt, door open with key in, low tire pressure, ect) none of the warning sounds are now working. It seems that the left front speaker is used for the transmitting of the warning sounds thus there is no sound from the left speaker. None the less I feel that with the warning sounds not working this is a safety issue. Everytime I start my car the svc light stays on all the time , my tires are always wobbly while slowing down and driving. Same as I have heard from others. Got in a hit and run if I have side air bags they didnt geploy.

15 Air Bag Light On problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2011

Air bag service indicator comes on and air bags become inoperable. This has occured multiple times in between 3 trips to dealer for repair. First time at dealer: dealer claimed to order parts but never did. Second time at dealer: dealer claimed to have replaced passenger air bag sensor and module. Third time at dealer: dealer claimed electronic devices such as cell phones placed on seat will trigger the service air bag notification. The dealer claimed NHTSA reference #10030788 and TSB reference #sb-08-09-41-007a covered the incident and no further diagnose needed. However, the referenced items does not mention a 2010 Chevrolet Cobalt. Fyi, any failure in the system disables the complete air bag system and would result in one or more fatal injuries if not fixed properly. It would also prohibit obtaining a vehicle inspection unless fixed. This is a major safety issue for all vehicles mentioned. Recommend relocation of sensor and/or proper shielding of sensor from surrounding electronic devices.
