My car had a fuel pump go, then within months, another. We then dealt with the same problem symptomatically, and was told it was the fuel pump sensor. Within the last few weeks, I am having all the same issues-including the car intermittently not starting, gasoline leaking from the vehicle, both noticably missing from the gauge (I. E 1/8 tank less than night prior), odor of gas in the car, stalling out while driving and trying to start it, but also now dripping gas from the car. A new issue popped up, which is the dash light coming up saying "check gas cap". This past Thursday, my car wouldn't start again, and has not started since. It's concerning that the chevy Cobalt has had recalls for the same exact problems, literally thousands of complaints that mirror mine- for every model year except the 2010. It's also interesting that they also stopped producing the Cobalt entirely in 2010 too, but considering the amount of faults and issues I've seen documented in every year model it's not a shock. I'm concerned that despite the amount of complaints that include 2010 models, they were excluded from the recall and seeing that my situation is another one that won't be covered, fixed, or made right by gm is something that doesn't make sense. I have also seen, that in 2021 an investigation was launched specifically into this exact issue with the 2010, as well. I'm carless right now, with no answers from chevy other than that it's not part of the recall, yet it's part of the problem. Something is very wrong here. It's shocking they wouldn't recall a vehicle knowing it's dripping gas, pooling gas, it's such a hazard for not only anyone driving them, but anyone driving near us or even parked near us. Please help do something! also I have videos of my car dripping, 2 days prior to it not starting, if there is somewhere I could send those as well.

I purchased a 2010 Chevrolet Cobalt from a used car dealership in July of 2019. 3 months into having the car, as I , my mother and 6yo daughter were driving on the highway at approximately 60mph , the car started to jerk and slow down. The engine reduced power message came across my dash . We we're almost side swiped and rear ended. Only for the fact that a fellow motorist stopped behind me to help merge traffic to keep us from getting hit , is what kept us from being in an accident and pulling over to the shoulder. This is so dangerous and I can't imagine as a mother how losing her life, or the life of her child would have been devistating because of a manufacturer's error!.

Traction, engine and wheels sensor light on. Hard shifting. Car shakes when braking. Engine runs rough and skips when idling. I've had brakes replaced and spark plugs. Have had all recalls repaired.
As I was driving in the highway 70 mph car abruptly loss engine power to almost a complete stop car would not go over 10 mph car keeps having same safety problem I numerous times engine losses power while im driving I replaced 02 sensors battery and others car still have the same problem it is a recurrent problem in this car that no one seems to fix puts the driver in a very dangerous situation when you are in the high way and dangerously the car losses engine power all of the sudden.
I got my Cobalt in ending 2010-2011 and never received a single recall on my Cobalt ,and now a friend told me of this sight there is so many recalls that need to be done on my car and beginning with the transmission ,it runs grate it just doesn't know what gear it is in. Also my door locks unlock by them self its like I have a spirit in the car (very un safe). Not to mention when the car was in drive it would slip into neutral on its own, same with if your in reverse it will slip into neutral. Please notify me non of the past recalls was ever done on my car, I want to have a list and put my car into a chevy shop and have all recalls fixed, I was never notifityed >and ive lived in the same house that I own for 10+ years>it will not reconize what gear it is in>period.
The transmission slips, then jerks into gear violently.
Was driving down the interstate at 75 mph when all power to vehicle was lost and was able to pull over to side of road. Vehicle would not start engine would crank but not start. Vehicle had to be towed to mechanic, mechanic checked for problems could not locate problem after 6 hours working on it vehicle needed to be towed to dealer. Dealer said timing chain failed and caused extensive damage to vehicle and engine needs to be replaced. This is a major safety concern and caused have caused an crash with the sudden loss of power.
My car will not go and reverse I get my oil change faithful and now I have to get a new transmission! this is a 2010 there should be a recall on this. When I come to a complete stop the car speed is really low then it picks up. It will not reverse.
Rear brakes making lots of noise, and are crap. This car should have alot more recalls. Stop letting gm screw us hard working people! my car is moving when I hear the noises, my brake pads are new so this is not the problem.
I was driving my 2010 chevy Cobalt and the engine power reduced light came on. The engine reduced to 10 miles per hour. I had a line of cars behind me as I was heading to my son's graduation. Very embarrassing. I am still making car payments and can't afford a major expense. Posts said it was the complete throttle body. I have to wait until I get paid so I can get it fixed. I will take it to c harper in belle vernon where I got it. Now I am stuck with no way to work.
I was driving down the road at 60 mph when my screen said engine power down and it automatically reduced speed and eventually said disabled engine and I lost all power. I had my car tested and it is a faulty engine control module. I believe for a 2010 this part should not have gone bad and when my engine powered down and disabled my engine going at a high rate of speed it could have caused an accident. I researched this problem and earlier Cobalt models were recalled for this problem and part.
I was turning left driving toward a store & as soon as I came out of the turn the car turned completely off & not even the gauges flashed. The driver behind me almost hit me due to the sudden stop because of complete loss of power and control. I stepped on the brakes & shifted it into nutral trying to start it & it took me several attempts to get it to crank up again. I turned into a parking lot just for the car to turn off once more. After I cranked it up again it was fine. Car had issues before over the years; it seemed to have loss of power put regained it in an instant; was taken to dealership, incident could not be duplicated. Car had recall for electric power steering assist soon after I purchased it on may 29, 2010. Found out recently about one recall for ignition switch when I took car to dealer on April 4, 2014 for an oil change. Called gm and they confirmed with my VIN # that there was another recall for the eps even though it had been replaced in 2010. Yesterday third recall for the ignition switch key lock. I was also informed by gm hq, when I talked to them a fourth time, that they were not sure which Cobalts 2010 had eps problem, that does not reflect the answers I received on three other occasions from gm hq's executive office. My dealers system does not reflect same recalls then gm's. I was told that "the dealers got the memos and had probably not got to them to read them yet. " I saw what was on their computer. Gm is not being truthful and I am starting to suspect that they used another part with the same part number with the eps problem and therefore they can not determine which Cobalt is affected. Gm is not being truthful and is being negligent in informing the dealers and the vehicle owners ( I have not gotten any recall notices in the mail). Breach of contract. Sold faulty vehicle to me with knowledge of faulty part(s) on may 29, 2010.
The contact owns a 2010 chevy Cobalt. The contact stated that while driving the speed of the vehicle suddenly decelerated and the "engine reduce power" warning light illuminated. The contact indicated the defect would recur at any speed traveled. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 115,000.
I was stopped at a red light heading west on bell rd. And 43rd Ave in phoenix arizona. When the light turned green I proceeded into the intersection. Then out of no where I was hit almost head on by a 1993 Buick causing me head to hit the driver side window, and no airbags had deployed to prevent my head from hitting the glass.
While driving along in my Cobalt, suddenly, without warning, the engine power dropped off and the vehicle basically came to a stop in busy traffic. This, (affecting power steering, speed, control and stability),but, . . Most importantantly !!, . . Severely threatened the safety of vehicle occupants. It was all I could do to get out of harms way. . (. . I was turning left, safely spacing oncoming traffic when this happened the 1st time. . ). !! very scarey when cars are blasting toward you and the car won't respond as it should. This has happened many more times since that first encounter and at any time, without prior warning, it will put you in very hazardous, unsafe, dangerous and potentially deadly situations. . !!!! nice enjinerung job gm . . . !!! (where's the common sense or forethought. . ??).
Power steering gave out on a u-turn. Shut off the engine and it worked again. Looked it up on line and found out there was a recall. I brought it to rotolo Chevrolet in fontana,CA (the place where I bought it). They told me that there was a recall and they replaced my motor already. They charged me $100. 00 and told me that they could put an upgraded motor in for another $200. The car was not repaired. You can buy the motor on line for $80. It's under the dash, two bolts and a plug to pull out. It takes ten minutes and a 12 mil wrench.
The contact owns a 2010 Chevrolet Cobalt. The contact stated that while parking, the steering wheel and the ignition seized. The vehicle was taken to a dealer but the technician could not diagnose the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the problem. Approximate failure mileage was 42,000.
In the middle of driving, the vehicle will shut off and on (multiple times) which affects the fuel and rpm gauges, loss of all power steering, all electrical starts going crazy (locks and unlocks the doors), starts flashing "low fuel" and "power steering" warnings and then car will go into complete lock mode. As of 4/has been fixed under the recall issue, however vehicle is still having these problems.
Driving at approximately 10 -15 mph, the car completely lost power and stopped after making a left turn. A warning chime started and the information display showed "power steering". Car was put back in park and restarted. Drove about 2 miles home and took it do the dealer the next morning.
