I smelled a gas smell when getting out of the car on drivers side. Looked under vehicle and it has a gas leak under the car near the drivers back tire. It is leaking around the bracket/ shield area.
Started smelling gas while driving the car. After I parked the car, I noticed something dripping from right behind the drivers door under the car. I had someone look it and they said that it was definitely a gas leak. Once we looked under the car, we noticed that the gas lines were rusted and that is where the gas was leaking out from.
Parked in driveway, started vehicle and the fuel lines started pouring gasoline out. My wife and I noticed the smell of gasoline and inspected around the vehicle. It was coming from just in front of driver side rear wheel where the fuel lines and exhaust system both go up and around the rear axle. Looked up online to find that the reason is poor design because of a heat shield that wraps the fuel line to protect from the heat of the exhaust pipes also acts as a sponge as it stores moisture against the fuel lines creating a point of failure.

The vehicle was taken to the feldman Chevrolet of highland dealer, located 3372 highland rd, highland, mi 48357, where it was diagnosed that the fuel line was corroded and caused the fuel leak. Gasoline leak on drivers side just ahead of the rear tire.
Vehicle is leaking a large amount of fuel from a rusted out fuel line located left rear about 12 in front of the left rear tire.
The fuel line has rusted and gas is coming out just in front of the driver side rear tire. It's a 3-4 inch section that is completely rusted away and is common problem with this vehicle. It's a significant amount of gas that comes out when you start the car which is a real fire hazard.
Fuel line leak. Rusty line in front of left rear tire.
Fuel smell by driver side passenger door. Hard to start, due to loss of fuel pressure. Fuel puddle on the ground. Not safe to drive, fuel line leak next to exhaust, fire hazard. With all the fuel leak reports same area, surprise there is no recall associated with this issue. This is a huge safety/fire hazard, come on gm figure it out.
Started to smell fuel when driving saw fuel dripping near left rear tire.
Corrosion of metal fuel line under the vehicle near the left rear wheel well. Vehicle leaks fuel only when running.
After parking I noticed a fuel smell and found a small puddle under the back driver side door. Two drives later the leak was a pool and the car started having difficulty starting (due to an empty fuel line). I limped it down the road to my. Mechanc who identified it as a leaking fuel line. We replaced both lines. Normally I wouldn't file a report, but I just saw an article about an investigation into Cobalt fuel lines. I figured I would create a report in case it helps.
I found out about the recall on the 2007-2009 on the corrosion of the gas lines on drivers side rear wheel when I took my car to a chevy dealer and they said its the same thing thats happening to my car. And that they only did the recall on 2007-2009 colbalt models . The last colbalt's made was the 2010 models. Why didnt they recall them also. I took it to another chevy dealer in amelia and they said the same thing. This needs to be recalled ASAP. Its a safety related defect from gm and they know it. If I have to I will get a lawyer and sue g. M. Period. I cant afford to fix gm's mistakes. They need to come clean and fix them. It leaks out gas and could start a fire or explode while I am in the car. I demand this taken car of by gm and stop kicking the can down the road. I will not stop or give up on this . Sence I was told by 2 diffrent chevy dealerships.
For many years my car has had a faint smell of gasoline when I get in it and I have never really identified where it was coming from. This morning in my driveway at my apartment I backed up and was greeted by a stench, stopped and checked and gas was pouring out by the lh rear wheel. (see picture) I checked online for a repair guide and instead found this was a recall item on all other years of Cobalt. Seems like this should have been recalled across the board? if I would have known this was a recall I would have had these lines replaced years ago.
Fuel leaking near left rear wheel from rotted fuel lines. Vehicle cannot be driven, fuel leaks when engine is running.
The car has 75000 miles on it and the fuel line is rotted out, all rust. Fuel is leaking by rear driver side panel wheel well. Mechanic recommended fuel line, evap line and fuel filter replacement. The leak occurs whenever the car is running, idling or driving. No leak when car is off.
I first started smelling slight gas fumes, didn't think it was from my car as I take very good care of it and have no reason to believe it was from my car. Then, yesterday I noticed a small puddle on the ground under my car when parked, located on driver side just a little aft of the door and touched it and it was gas. When I got home I called my dealership where I purchased it and due the pandemic, it was closed. So I called gm corp office, gave them the appropriate information they requested, and explained the situation and they told me they would try and find another dealership close to where I live to help me but seems, their all closed. They, gm told me the leak is not a"recall" yet when I went "on line" their were dozens of complaints about the exact problem. I don't understand, does a life or lives have to be lost before gm steps-up and accept responsibility and have a recall before the worst happens?. I researched the issue and read exact complaints from others from the same make and model and my year and prior years. I also found out it is a costly repair, surely this cannot be a reason not to have a recall, I would hope not, to put profit over human lives.

2010 Cobalt is leaking fuel behind drivers seat on ground. Mechanic said fuel line is rusted and they have seen this on this car many times. No warning from the in-vehicle system. Car still runs, but takes a little longer to start. Seem dangerous.
Smelled strong odor of gasoline while vehicle was parked in garage. . Upon inspection found considerable fuel leak. Cause was steel fuel line corroded in the vicinity of drivers side rear wheel along frame rail. Was able to repair rusted fuel line. It will need a complete new line at later date.
Fuel odor and spotting on ground near rear driver side tire. Active leaking when driving and when car is parked.
There was a fuel leak on my car. The same day that I dropped my car off at the dealership another person was there with the same car & the same exact problem. I feel as tho it may not have been a coincidence & probably should be looked in to. I noticed the problem a few days before taking it to the shop. I had no major problems with my car before this issue.
At first it was hesitant to strt. It did strt and I went on my way. Got to my destination turned the car off. Smelled gas fumes inside the car. Hit a deer on the freeway going 70 mph & totaled car but none of the airbags deployed.
Gas line was leaking. Has been over 2 weeks and part is still backordered for many additional orders for the same part. If this many gas lines are all leaking and in need of this part, it warrants an investigation as to why they are all leaking at the same time. To date there is still not even a timeline as to the proposed date that a part will be available leading me to believe there are thousands to millions of cars in the same predicament.
Fuel lines, driver side rear, rusting & beginning to leak.
Fuel line leaking at the rear of vehicle in front of driver side rear tire, appears to be near a clip. Strong fuel smell.
In July / August of 2019 I was smelling gasoline while my vehicle was parked. I eventually noticed a large puddle of gasoline under the parked vehicle. After calling my stepfather who is a mechanic I took the car to a local shop who confirmed I had a corroded fuel feed line that needed to be replaced and completed the repair for me.
I see all over the place where many others have this same problem with chevy Cobalts. The fuel line leaks and then they want to charge you $700 to replace. If so many have this problem, why isn't there a recall and it's all in the same spot (driver side by rear tire).
While stationary after driving a strong fuel odor is present around the vehicle and fuel is dripping to the ground from in front of the rear driver side tire. The same condition is common on earlier years of this make and model.
When vehicle is parked I notice strong smell of gasoline. Checked under the car and noticed fluid leaking what appears to be gasoline. Leak is located on drivers side near the rear tire. Also it appears that a worn fuel line is what is causing the leak.
As I exited the vehicle, I smelled fuel and noticed a wet spot on the ground. I looked underneath on the driver side of the car. The fuel line had worn through where a shackle was holding the fuel line to the frame of the car.
I pulled into jiffy lube and they said they smelled gas. I took it to a mechanic and they said gas was leaking from fuel lines. They installed new fuel lines. I paid $744. 15 on June 6th 2019 and still have receipt. I don't know when or where it started leaking. I heard there may be a recall and would like to know how to get reimbursed. Thanks.
Fuel leaking from left rear of vehicle, close to the exhaust. Noticed strong odor of fuel and gas dripping when parked.
