Internal mechanism of the driver-side door handle broke and the door would not open from the inside. Tne dealership confirmed that the inside door ah glue is broken. The cable retainer snapped apart and the cable cannot stay connected. This might be available for inspection. Driver must exit the vehicle by crawling over to the passenger side. The problem has been confirmed by a Chevrolet dealer. There were no warning lamps or messages. The manufacturer no longer makes this part and it could not be replaced. Service description says that the customer had an electrical concern and that the door would not unlock from the inside. This was inaccurate. It was mechanical. The door could unlock, it could not open. The dealership would not let the diagnosis proceed until the customer agreed to that statement. The dealership inaccurately recorded the mileage.

My headlight an blinker quit working new bulbs an all new wiring it it still will not work my trunk button also just stopped working an the fuse is not blown. I even replaced it just to make sure still nothing. Door panel clips won’t stay in bought new ones same thing so now my handle is coming apart an my door doesn’t want to shut bc it thinks I’m still holding the handle. . Fuel everytime I get gas I have to crank my car a few times and press on the gas before I can get it to go otherwise it just dies on me I’ve had it looked at they said it was something about how my car does not know when to stop releasing air I think. My blinkers don’t turn off unless I do it manually. The seals on my door is no good anytime it rains it’s coming inside of my car an since the door panel won’t stay on it’s coming straight into my car.

When driving rear and front doors open when hitting a bumpl they just fly open won't stay locked or closed. When closing them sometimes not able to reopen them. The door mechanisms are faultly and don't work. Real safety issue should be on recall list as many people on-line have the same problem.
My passenger door randomly does not open anymore from inside or out. It worked completely fine before a passenger got in, and when they tried to get out the handle was "loose" and neither handles will open the door. This is a safety hazard and it's scary that this could potentially happen to both doors. My passenger door currently doesn't open so if there was an accident they wouldn't even be able to get out.
Tl- the contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt. The contact stated that when attempted to exit the vehicle, the driver side door failed to open. The contact stated that she had to climb over to the front passenger side to be able to exit the vehicle. In addition, the contact stated that while the vehicle in motion the rear driver and passenger door independently open. The contact stated that she had to bungee cord the two rear door to keep them from opening while driving. The vehicle was taken to mangino Chevrolet (1484 saratoga rd, ballston spa, NY 12020, (518) 885-5301), but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not included in the recall and did not offer further assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 106,000. The VIN was not available. Aw.
Issue #1) fuel leak from top of fuel tank. This creates a strong fuel smell in cabin during any operation, and fuel leaking on driveway after operation. Fumes are strong enough that any open flame in cabin would detonate creating death and/or critical injury. The fuel pump has been replaced once in Aug 2017 costing over $600 dollars. Issue #2) both interior front door handles have broken resulting in doors being unable to open doors normally. To open doors, windows must be cranked down opening doors using the outside handle. The failure area is where door latch cable connects to rear of door handles. Both door handles have been replaced, but replaced service handles have sharp edges from plastic flash. Both issues are critical to safe vehicle operation. This could result in death and/or critical injury if either issue fails during any vehicle operation. As a disabled veteran, husband and father, both vehicle issues are dangerous and lack the resources to keep repairing these failures. An investigation, recall and/or replacement is needed ASAP.

The contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt. The contact attempted to change the headlamp bulb because the bulb shield fell off. The contact had not noticed the shield was missing until he noticed a glare in the bulb. The contact stated that there were two light bulbs affected due to the reflector failing without warning. The contact purchased a repair manual and noticed NHTSA campaign number: 04v560000 (exterior lighting). The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact was concerned that the glare could affect an oncoming motorist, resulting in a crash. The dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 108,400.
Can't open drivers door from inside or outside handles. Not safe to drive, if accident occurs how does the emergency personal get you out?.
Driver side door wont open, stuck shut. Handle feels like nothing is there . Cant open from inside or outside. This is very dangerous if was in a wreck or fire. Vehicle was in park as these are power locks and you can hear the unlocking sound however door doesnt open.
Rear doors won't unlock.
The passenger door would not close. I went to my dealership for the repair. The car was never damaged, as I am the original owner and purchased the vehicle new from that same dealership. Within two weeks after this repair, the driver's door did not close. I returned to the dealership. I am afraid to open the back doors, in case they do not close. Besides the huge amount of stress and fear, I was charged approximately $330. 00 for each door. I feel this was a similar occurrence other vehicles have had when there has been a recall.
Takata recall my vehicle was hit head on I have pictures of the airbag and my head impacting top windshield insurance settle net me 3750. Lumbar 4,5 broken thumb severed from right hand in unconscious attempt to hold my self in seat obviously that thumb gave way but did more than the airbag which did not even clear the steering wheel all my ribs were broken onstar already notified my atty isn't very Smart on this I hope the agency has some way to avoid publicity to hurt any gm but I want to be reimbursed for the time lost approx 1 years at my average earnings and future ability for rehabilitation or minor surgery.
Driver's door interior handle broke or became disconnected today, prohibiting exit from the car at that door. Can be opened from outside handle.
I have owned a 2010 chevy Cobalt since 2012. Shortly after purchasing, the check engine light turned on. The power locks erratically lock and unlock. The windows will become jammed and suddenly will not roll back up. Cruise control will randomly stop working. I had issues with the transmission which cost me over $3,000 to fix. Then, there was the ignition switch recall which the dealer fixed at no cost. But now I am having problems with the power steering. I have to turn my ignition off and on for the power steering warning message to turn off but then it turns back on a few minutes later. I am aware that there was a recall for the power steering but yet the dealer refuses to address this issue with my car because they say that recall was performed by a previous owner. The NHTSA website states bulletin 14115 regarding power steering recall began July 17, 2014. Mind you I have owned this car since 2012 and have not had the power steering recall issues fixed. N140115 also states that it includes "2010 chevy Cobalt and vehicles repaired in recall 10v-073 that received repairs prior to may 31, 2010. " therefore, they should be held accountable and fix this problem with my vehicle or provide me with a car that is safe. The first time my power steering went out I was on a freeway on ramp when my steering wheel locked up. I could have died! this is a life threatening issue and I sincerely believe this is a lemon car.
At 3:30am, the front passenger side douglas performance gt-h tire 195/60r15 88h tire spontaneously exploded while sitting in my garage. It bent the metal frame around the wheel well, blew the headlight out completely, and caused damage to the interior of the wheel well.
The driver side door latch does not want to open the door from the outside. It feels like there is nothing connecting to open it. This has happened several times and I have had to crawl over passenger side to open it from the inside. I understand there are lots of people having this same issue with this vehicle, something needs to be done.
Fuel lines are rusted and could be a fire hazard. Common in these vehicles. Should be a recall on these parts.
Tl-the contact owns a 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt. The contact stated that the driver side door would not open when the doors were unlock. The contact stated the latch is stuck in the lock position. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 106,000. Ng.
When I unlock the driver door with the fob, the door would not open. I was driving one day and the relay electrical wiring started burning. When I took it back to the car dealer they told me there was nothing wrong. Myself and four other people smelled the burning. I gave the car back and nothing was done to satisfy the situation. I was told by an auto zone mechanic to park the car before it catches on fire.
The hood latch hook part of the hood is rusting to a point where its ready to break off which will lead to the hood being opened when driving.
My 16 yr old son was driving in a cul-DE-sac when he was about 3/4 of the way thru the curve his steering failed and he hit a light pole. He stated that the steering wheel froze up on him. He couldn't turn the wheel. We took the vehicle to chevy dealership. They stated that the recall work was already completed. Then why are we continuing to have this problem? my son is suffering from whiplash and is going to chiropractor visits twice weekly.
Please note that hyndai autp have recalls on their chrome door handles, but gm is ignorning the fact that theirs can peel with sharp edges.
Clear coat on the front bumper is coming off really bad. The paint seems to stay on the bumper but progressively flakes off more every day. It starts as a small spot then expands like a virus. The underside of the driver and passenger doors begin to rust and are spreading to the outer parts of the doors and body. The interior lighting for the center-console (climate control) burn out fast and fail to illuminate the rest of the buttons. Seat belts wear out excessively fast and the buttons that stop the belt buckle fall out prematurely. -------- *this problem is found on the Cobalt sport 2008 2. 4l (manual).
Was driving when the steering locked up as I was starting around a small curve in the road. Could not steer and went off the road into a yard and struck a tree. Insurance company totaled vehicle.
Driver door wont open form in or outside sometimes and if it does it will not latch properly and open while driving.
This is about the fourth time my 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt driver side door has been stuck shut. Previously, restarting the battery fixed the problem but now the issue appears to be mechanical. It's absolutely ridiculous that I have to climb out of my passenger side door with a fractured spine because Chevrolet and GMC cannot engineer a door properly.
The door doesn't open from either the inside or outside, even when the car is unlocked.
Vechical started making a loud noise and all of a sudden it blew up in flames.
Tl- the contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt. The contact stated that the vehicle's door locks have malfunctioned. The contact stated the vehicle door lock will independently unlock and lock in a loop which causes the car alarm to function. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer where it was not diagnoised. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the issue. The vehicle mileage was approximately 65,000. Kh.
