Traction Control System Problems of Chevrolet Cobalt

The contact owns a 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt. While driving various speeds, the instrument panel gauges fluctuated and the power steering failed. The low fuel, service traction, power steering, and check engine warning indicators illuminated. The contact was able to pull the vehicle over, shut it off, and restart it on the first attempt. However, the failed recurred. The vehicle was operable again after being parked for hours. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, but the failure could not be duplicated. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 61,000.

The traction control and check engine warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but the failure could not be replicated. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The contact was informed that the vehicle was previously serviced per NHTSA campaign number: 10v073000 (steering) in 2010. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 105,000.

The contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt. The contact stated that the traction control and steering warning indicators randomly illuminated several times, and then the engine stalled. The power steering also randomly shorted out each time the failure occurred. The failure intermittently progressed for over two years. The dealer was notified of the failure several times, but the contact had not yet approved what the dealer mentioned would be an extensive diagnosis and repair. The VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign numbers: 10v073000 (steering), 14v047000 (electrical system), and 14e021000 (electrical system). The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was not available.

The electronic stability control light is on all the time as well as traction control. Also I took the car in for the key not coming out of the steering and came out of dealership with a broken turn signal (it works but I hear a clicking sound when I turn the steering wheel).

At random the vehicle will suddenly exhibit esc failure, traction control failure, and several other trouble codes while simultaneously losing all gauge function and power steering. The error will continue to escalate causing a malfunction in the electronic stability control mechanism causing grinding while turning. The error often subsides after shutting the ignition off for several minutes.

My 2005 chevy Cobalt has had repeated problems with error codes that the dealer has been unable to resolve. When these errors occur, the speedometer moves back and forward and the the car attempts to stall. The car does stall at slower speeds at times. Whenever I take the vehicle to bob bell chevy in bel air ,maryland they tell me the can't find anything wrong when drive it . On 02/11/2011, I was told by the dealer rep ray, again,that he could not find anything wrong and to drive vehicle until it does this again and bring vehile in without turning it off and they will then check the codes. My chevy Cobalt did the exact same again along with the error code "power sterring" across the screen as I was leaving the dealershipp on 02/11/2011 and I immediately returned to the service shop and the serviice technian obtained the error codes. Ray from the service bob bell chevy stated now I had to pay for any diagnostic work and repairs even though this was a recall problem. My times this vehicle has been in the shop has been well documented by the dealership who each time intially deny their is a problem and state they cannot diagnose any problems unless they can reproduce they problem or I drive the vechile to them while it is happening without turning it off. This car is unsafe and has stalled several times when these error codes occur causing near accidents. I feel more investigation should be completed into why the makers of the chevy Cobalt are unable to correctly diagnose error codes and continue to but my life and my family at risk. I am unable to trade this car in to anyone because of the repeated problems and I would never sell it to an innocent buyer who could by hurt with this car. Why gm is allowed to get away with this defective car is not fair.

While driving vehicle traction control, security light, engine light, brake light, all come on then power steering warning comes on and transmission starts jerking, and is hard to control. It has problems braking and shifting gears. There are alot of problems with this model from chevy and no one seems to have an answer to what causes the problem. I have had into 2 different chevy dealers and still this problem not fixed.

2006 chevy Cobalt having problems with power steering & tc (traction control) car jerks and locks up while driving. Brought vehicle back to dealership twice (August 2009) and they replaced something each time that was supposedly under recall. Third time this has happened (December 2009) and dealership cannot find out what the problem? I am afraid to drive my vehicle!.
