Two problems related to other fuel system tank assembly have been reported for the 1999 Chevrolet Corvette. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Fuel leak from the passenger fuel tank. This is creating a fuel vapor smell inside the car and the garage where parked. This is a fire and safety hazard!.
(1) intermittent passive keyless entry/alarm system malfunctions in "passive" mode: doors lock and alarm sets in 5 seconds if key removed from ignition and doors still closed; if unlock button pressed and enter vehicle, doors lock and alarm sets. (2) fuel gauge inaccurate: when tank is completely full, intermittently reads 2/3 full after starting vehicle. After driving for 2 minutes or so, fuel gauge jumps to the full mark. (3) steering column locked while car in gear but not moving (after backing out of garage, while at dealer for other repairs). Ref. In ea02-031.
