2 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/13/2023

Happened twice within a day. The main electric fan on the radiator stopped working and the car overheated. Once at idle, was able to shut the car off safely. The second time, there was traffic on the highway, and the fan stopped working and the car started to overheat. Had to shut the car off and wait for it to cool down on the side of the road. When I got the car home, I found the electrical connector of the fan to be melted and fused together. There was no indicator that the fan would stop running prior to the engine overheating.

3 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/10/2022

The contact owns a 2006 Chevrolet Corvette. The contact stated while driving at speeds above 25 mph, the abs system failed, causing the front brakes to activate without the driver depressing the brake pedal. During the failure the active handling warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the active handling control module wiring harness was faulty and needed to be replaced. Additionally, while operating the vehicle the low beam headlights inadvertently turned off. The mechanic diagnosed that the wiring harness for the exterior lighting needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer and local dealer were notified of the failure. The contact was informed that the vehicle was previously repaired under NHTSA campaign number: 14v251000 (electrical system, exterior lighting). The contact stated that the vehicle had experienced the failure listed in the recall. The failure mileage was 50,000.

4 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/18/2018

My automatic shifter gets stuck in park. I already had the dealership replace the shifter a few years ago but the problem still remains. Once I start the car, the system does not tell the shifter to unlock and therefore I can not get it in gear. I have to play with it several time. It may take less than 1 minute to engage while at other times it may take 5 minutes. I have read in the Corvette forum that it is happening to quite a few Corvette owners. This is happening much more frequently than before.

5 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/04/2018

4/2015 car was at dealership for body work, while it was there, recall work was supposed to be done, gm recall 123146, I was told that this was done and it was reported to gm as "work done" fast forward to 8/2018 car was driven at night and loss of low beam headlights was experienced, same thing happened next day. These are the symptoms of the recall before "the fix" upon further investigation it was found that the recall was not done. I have pictures of the fuse box and I have pictures of what its supposed to look like when the fix is done.

Failure Date: 01/01/2018

The front lights of the car one of them isn't working. I believe this isn't the first complain about this kind of car. It is dangerous to be driving on the road. It's dangerous because the visibility on the road for me and other drivers.

8 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 07/14/2016

I have a 2006 Chevrolet Corvette and it has a part that is in the process of failing. The dash control unit (part # 25938052) is flashing, which my Chevrolet dealer tells me it is going to fail. This is an important safety issue, as I could loose my defroster capability, front and back while driving. I have visited 5 different gm dealers and they all say the part is either back ordered or discontinued. I can't get a straight answer. Since this part was installed in Corvettes up to 2012 model year, I find Chevrolets indifference to this safety issue disturbing. I have attempted to contact Chevrolet online several times and they recently cut me off and have failed to respond to e-mails. I have heard anecdotally, that Chevrolet has many parts "back-ordered" wink, wink. They keep trying to sell me a new car, but why would I buy another car from them with this behavior? the part still works for now, but it blinks constantly and I never know when it is going to fail. Isn't gm required by law to sell replacement parts for a reasonable time?.

9 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 06/15/2016

Valve rattle, not driving vehicle to keep from dropping valve. . . . . . Costs $4k for repair to heads. . . . 31000 miles. . . 15 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 09/12/2014

My low beam lights stopped working. Got had driven to a location in daylight. 2 hours later (dark) I started the car and the low-beams didn't come on. I got home (on fog lamps) and inspects the fuse box. Thought the low beam relay was faulty so went in another vehicle to purchase one. Replacing the relay, the lights came back on. I thought the problem was fixed until the next day, the same thing happened. This is when I did some research and found my car is part of a gm recall; gm recall #: n130146 NHTSA recall #: 14v-251 date issued: may 28, 2014 this same symptom has happened every day since. I booked my car into lonestar Chevrolet, houston, to have this taken care of. The technician, manager and Chevrolet contact center all told me the same thing. "the parts to repair this aren't ready yet (4 months!!). You are perfectly safe to drive on high-beams. " in my opinion, it is irresponsible to tell your customer that there is nothing that can be done and to drive illegally at night in the mean-time.

Failure Date: 05/17/2014

While driving the verhicle on I-55 the warning light on the dash blinked and the lights went out. I was on an elevated section of I-55 north of laplace, la. And there was no place to pull off. I turned the emergency flashers on and continue to drive off of the elevated portion of I-55 to the first exit and pulled into a service station. I turned the ignition off and let the car sit for about ten minutes and the lights worked, however the check engine light is on. Drove to my daughters house approx 15 miles and the lights went out again. The lights worked this morning. I went online and found out that there is a recall specifically for that problem but my car is not included. This is a very dangerous problem.

24 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/22/2012

Driving at night on my way home, my low beam headlights when out. High beams still worked, so when I got home I started checking the fuses and relays but they were all good. After 2 hours when the car cooled down I restarted the car and low beams were working fine, left the car running for 20 minutes and headlights when out again. Appears to be a heating problem at the fuse box. I believe this is a safety issue that can result in fatalities if gm doesn't fix.

25 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 07/29/2012

Light s go out place light selector in manual no lows again then flipped to high beam drive home with high beams so now it is not light or relay it may very well be a temperature issue under the hood get warm lights go off.

27 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2011

2006 Chevrolet Corvette. Consumer states loss of headlamps when engine heats up.

28 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 05/04/2011

While driving, at night, both low-beam headlights went out simultaneously and could not be switched back on. I used the fog lights to drive home on surface streets. I later determined that the problem was an intermittent connection in circuit no. 1970, within the main fuse/relay backplane itself. The circuit opens at operating temperatures, but works when the car fuse box is cold, making diagnosis more difficult. The backplane cannot be serviced and must be replaced.

29 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 02/12/2010

First the roof blew off. The communication message center gives mis information. The car has always made a grinding sound under hood at start up. Problemsm activating eelectrical stability system. Also after roof repair roof rattles and always sound loose.

30 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/10/2009

About 3 months ago my 2006 Corvette's dic said please service the traction control system and the traction control off indication light came on. Later that day I went to take the car to be serviced. On the way the check engine light came on but the other lights had gone away. At the dealership it was plugged up to a computer I was told it said there was a leak from the gas cap, which doesn't close properly at times. I was also told the computer said nothing about the traction control system and just to watch it and come back another time if I kept having problems with it. The warning message or light didn't come on again for about 4-5 weeks. When it did I was driving the car and after hitting a bump the light and warning came on. When the car was turn off and restarted it would go away. I had not been driving it often because I had another car. The past week I had to drive it every day to work due to it now being my only car. The light and warning now comes on almost every time it is driven. The car is telling me the traction control system is off, but when you are driving it sometimes pulls the car to the left without me moving the wheel. When this happens the break makes a grinding noise and if you place your foot on top of the break it feels as though it is being pumping up and down. Two times now while driving down the interstate to work the car has pulled itself off the road causing me to almost wreck and causing others wreck behind me. I have set up an appointment for tomorrow 11/17/2009 before going to work but was told they are unsure (even though this is major and I have an extended warranty) if they will have a rental car so I can go to work. If they don't I will be force to drive my car until they do and I can get off work. I can't lose my professional job over transportation. This really upsets me because I have no other choice of transportation and it puts not only me but others at risk because this car with 33,000 miles is faulting.

31 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 06/15/2006

When the ambient air temperature is over 95 degrees the following electrical gremlins occur on my 2006 Corvette convertible. 1. When the memory button on the door is pressed, the steering wheel will go to its preset position. The seat does not move. This happens about 85% of the time. Does not happen when the outside temperature is below 80 degrees. 2. With the car running, ac and radio on, if the memory button on the door is pressed, the radio will turn off along with the air conditioning system. Most times the radio will come back on within a minute. The ac must be turned on with the ac control buttons.
