The service active handling and the traction control error is appearing on my cars instrument panel. Causing the cars abs system to activate the front brakes while driving. This reaction causes the car to pull to the left, nearly causing an accident. It has random affected my car here recently. In that years that I have owned the car I have not had an issue. However, I see that this issue has been widely reported on this generation. Although I don’t see a recall for this issue. I do see that this is very dangerous. I feel lucky that this did not happen as I was traveling at a higher rate of speed or I probably would have wrecked the car.
This is a safety concern when I start my car and can not put it in reverse. This in todays world of violence and crime everywhere is truly a safety concern for women stuck in a car that you can not get out of park. The shift is stuck in park and will not move in any other position. Looking on the web this is a known problem on many 2005 and 2006 Corvette's for years. This has happened to many times to count.
Shifter assembly does not operate properly. The shifter locks and will not move from park to reverse or neutral or drive. Therefore, the car is inoperable. Many suggestions are to override such lockout mechanism however this creates a major safety issue. The car was at dealership, and they could not resolve problem, nor could they locate a replacement shifter assembly. I believe gm’s lack of providing parts, TSB or other remediations for this well-known issue will result in owners creating an unsafe vehicle and overriding the safety lockout that is not working. Therefore, I strongly would like NHTSA to launch an investigation.
As of December 2018, all cars with navigation systems that have an incorporated clock, clocks stopped working, the reason is supposably due to a change in the government satellite technology. So there is no way to correct this without a software fix, this problem is not only on the 2006 Corvette, but many other cars as well.
My automatic shifter jammed in the d location and would only go to neutral and would not go into reverse or park, and the doors would not open with the button, this shifter has jammed in park in the past. This car only has 26k miles on it. And is not driven in bad weather. Not a good feeling to be traped in your car.
2006 Chevrolet Corvette. Consumer states that while driving 30 mph the active handling system engaged and the front end of vehicle began to shake. The consumer stated the dealer could not duplicate the failure.
Auto shifter gets stuck in park. Shifter lock will not disengage when depressing the brake pedal.
First incident 15000 miles, second incident 38000 miles. Automatic transmission does not go into park. Locked in neutral or drive only. Transmission cable or reverse lock out solenoid goes bad. Will not start in neutral. Car cannot be placed into park and must be left in a neutral mode until car is transported to service center for repairs.
The harmonic damper on 2006 Corvette with ls2 engine failed resulting in power steering drive belt coming off pulley causing loss of power steering. The high effort required to steer vehicle almost resulted in crash. This harmonic damper issue is documented in numerous internet forums and is believed to be a widespread issue that should be recalled and corrected by the manufacturer.
Gm recall #13146 underhood bussed electrical center (ubec) housing will expand causing failure of low-beam headlights. I received recall notice in July 2014 but the problem has yet to be remedied. Called Chevrolet customer assistance center in early October, they advised that problem is ". . Being worked on. " . 3+ months seems to be an excessive time to wait for a remedy.
I noticed that there's a recall on a number of gm cars due to a shift cable problem. I've known a number of fellow Corvette owners, with the year model 2005 thru 2009, that have had the cable break. I just wanted to make the NHTSA aware of the problem in case you've seen more complaints regarding it and a recall might be warranted.
After car purchase , on multiple occasions while turning right at very slow speeds the steering wheel would almost lock-up and the brakes would apply and kind of pump themselves and the the service "traction control system " light would come on . Once during a rt. Turn on a green arrow it happened and the car behind me almost hit me because the car almost stopped during the turn . I had the same problem with an 05 Corvette only not as bad . The problem has happened 5 or 6 times since I bought the car , in varying degrees . I bought the car used as is or I would have returned it to the dealer since I'm sure they knew about the problem . I took it and had the car fixed. It cost me $371. The repair shop found theabs & traction control sensor and steering angle sensor not working right and replaced them. Only 30000 miles !!.
Car will not shift out of park. Many owners have the same problem. The shift lock solenoid fails and you cannot get car into gear.
Active handling system appeared and my brakes felt different. The car idled differently too. Felt like it was missing a cylinder. I believe this is an ongoing problem and is dangerous.
