8 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2014

I have a 2006 Chevrolet Corvette, while driving along at night all of a sudden the headlights went off. I was lucky enough to be able to pull over without hitting anyone or being hit. I found the problem to be the low beam headlights only. The high beam still work and I was able to get it home . I found out on pc that I was not alone with this problem and like others they will work again when car is cooled down. They will go off again when engine is warm or hot at any given moment.

9 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 04/04/2014

My low beam headlights stopped working driving home at night very dangerious the next morning they worked for a while. Later that day they were not working couldnt drive home after work.

10 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 02/24/2014

In mid February of 2014 my right low beam headlamp on my 2006 Chevrolet Corvette starting turning off within 5-10 minutes of the headlamps turning on and staying off. Daily, each time the headlamps came on the low beam would work then go out. I took my car to the local Chevrolet dealership explaining the right low beam goes out minutes after it comes on daily at dawn or dusk below is what the local Chevrolet invoice c46040 dated February 25, 2014 states: concern: customer states the right low beam head light is inop advise cause: rf low beam bulb inop correction: replace rf low beam bulb, all lights operating at this time parts: 000 025735604 bulb tech: xxx I paid $441. 36 to replace a low beam headlamp that GMC/Chevrolet knew was causing issues since may 2013 GMC/Chevrolet has done nothing to this date about announcing a recall but admits to the government that the intermittent headlight failure was due to an electrical short in the engine bay. At this same time my low jack tracking device started having issues and low jack repaired the issue at no cost but Chevrolet charged me for their evaluation of the issue and said it was not the fault of the car. I disagree. I feel very strongly that the electrical short in the engine bay is also the culprit in this situation. I drive commute three times a week round trip 112 miles, the first 30 are before dawn and the last 56 are at night. I was driving with a faulty low beam headlight that could stop working at any time and presented a safety risk to me and other cars. I have called GMC multiple times asking for verification of this particular recall and have been told there is no recall. I feel that GMC/Chevrolet must provide a recall to prevent more Corvette drivers from experiencing situations like mine.

11 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 12/02/2013

Low beam headlights just turn off by themselves and would not turn back on.

12 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2013

My situation is unique, but it happens hundreds of times every. In Nov and Dec of 2013 and in Jan 2014 my low-beam headlights would go out periodically and I took my car to a Chevrolet dealership who could not determine the specific problem. And I was not told there had been hundreds of complaints about this same issue from other Corvette owners. Why do you think I was not told about hundreds of other complaints? did gm keep it a secret from all the dealers all over the world? when there are hundreds of complaints and problems on one single issue, is that not something that is passed to the dealerships as something to be aware of, to look for, as well as a clue as to how to find and fix the problem? the Chevrolet dealer in Jan they said they could fix the problem by replacing my electrical box at a cost of just over $1,000. 00. I declined, that shotgun approach. They did not find the exact problem as per their invoice. Their shotgun fix would have never made its way to become a gm recall issue. I was told yesterday by the gm dealer they found some wires that was causing my problem. When there is a recall & a gm customer has that recall problem & it's a known potentially serious safety issue and the recall has been announced, it seems the prudent, the reasonable, the common sense, the most cost effective way to solve yet another problem with the recall is for gm to authorize a fix when the the customer is in the dealership with the specific recall problem as in my case yesterday. That is the most common sense safe and cost effective way to handle a situation like mine. I am very disappointed that gm would not authorize a fix right then (yesterday) it would have in the long run saved money for everyone and it would have been cost and safety effective, it's a common sense approach that the best minds at gm overlooked.

13 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2013

Low beam headlights intermittently fail to illuminate. Attempting to toggle between the available positions on the headlight stalk will not cause the lights to turn on. Dash indicates that lights are on, but they are not. This is unsafe at any speed, but terrifying on the freeway at 70 mph.

14 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 10/06/2013

The low beam headlights do not come on and if you are somewhere after dark, you are forced to drive with high beams only which is distracting and dangerous to other drivers. I am taking the car in to the Chevrolet dealership armed with information on this issue with the Corvette low beam lights and that there are numerous complaints to the NHTSA and the problem is under review. There is additional information on sites like Corvette forum.

15 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 09/18/2013

The headlights of the car turn off after a period of time. The high beam has no issue but the low beam turns off. I have to not use the car for a period of time after which the low beam starts working again. This is on and off and I continue to have this problem. Most of the time if the car has been sitting idle they work for a short period of time and then they stop working. The lights turn back on if I stop using the car for a few hours.

16 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 09/16/2013

Low beam headlights do not go on at night. (in the dark).

17 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 09/10/2013

Headlights low beam failed causing me to not see standing water and car hydro planed causing it to hit a concrete barrier wall, lights has been going on and off ,I just thought after a dealer visit that they would be fixed,.

18 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 07/27/2013

Started car one night back in July and noticed low beam headlights did not work, drove with hight beams on. Over several weeks noticed they only worked intermittently. After several visits to dealer, about 12 hours of diagnosing, it was determined it was the fuse box and that it was likely over heating. I paid a total of $886. 83 (parts & labor) for repair.

19 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 07/16/2013

Driving on the freeway, my low bead driving headlights will simply turn off and I would have to resort to the high beams to continue driving. At other times, the headlights will work and after arriving at my destination, I would turn the engine off and upon my return the low beam driving headlights will not turn on. This has been a daily occurrence since the first incident. I read in one of the car magazines that the nhsta was in the process of approving a recall for the incident so I felt it was best to register my complaint in order to maintain the integrity of the data being collected by the agency.

20 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 04/18/2013

Headlights suddenly cut off at night while driving.

21 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 02/04/2013

Low beam headlights turned off while driving. This has happened several times after driving for 20+ minutes.

22 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2013

The headlight covers are crazing over which is materially reducing the light output. 1. The covers cannot be polished. Not only does that destroy the outer coating, the crazing is through-and-through. 2. The covers are glued on and cannot be replaced by any official means, although some inventive people have managed to succeed (usually after multiple failed attempts) by sticking the entire assembly in their kitchen oven. However, [see next point] 3. The covers themselves are not available for sale. 4. The headlight assemblies themselves, which cost around $1,000 per side, are specific to the color of the car, and are now discontinued. In other words, there is no legit pathway to fixing this problem. Gm made a throwaway headlamp assembly that cost a fortune to replace when it was produced, and now it's not available at all. This is not an old car. These cars were produced until 2013. Three and a half years later, you can't get essential parts to make the headlights safe. Thousands of c6 headlamp covers are starting to fail now. The NHTSA did a recall for the low-beam wiring malfunction on this car. This is a similar problem in its effect.

23 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 08/22/2012

Driving at night on my way home, my low beam headlights when out. High beams still worked, so when I got home I started checking the fuses and relays but they were all good. After 2 hours when the car cooled down I restarted the car and low beams were working fine, left the car running for 20 minutes and headlights when out again. Appears to be a heating problem at the fuse box. I believe this is a safety issue that can result in fatalities if gm doesn't fix.

24 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 07/29/2012

Driving at night on my way home, my low beams headlights when out. High beams still worked, so when I got home started checking the fuses and relays but they were all good, after 2 hours I restarted the car and low beams were working fine, left the car running for 20 minutes and headlights when out again. Appears to be a heating problem at the fuse box. I believe this is a safety issue that gm needs to fix.

25 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 07/05/2012

Low beam headlights would not turn off in 2012. Even with the key off the low beams would not turn off. Replaced the fuse box. In may 2013 low beam headlights turned off while driving and would come back on later. Drove with high beams to get the vehicle home. Fuse box including low beam relay gets very hot.

26 Headlights problem

Failure Date: 02/15/2012

I rarely drive my Corvette at night, but on at least two occasions one of my low beam headlight bulbs has failed to operate. The high beam bulbs will operate. After the first incident I replaced the low beam bulbs. After the second failure I checked the low beam bulbs the following morning and they both worked.
