After an oil change at a Chevrolet dealer I drove to get gas. After refueling I got in and was preparing to drive away when I noticed the clutch pedal was on the floor and would not pop back up ready to be used. I had the car towed to the Chevrolet dealer where I learned the hydraulic clutch master cylinder had failed. I was lucky this didn’t happen while o was driving the car on the highway. I am not sure how that would have affected the drivability of the vehicle but it could have been very dangerous. I had received a letter from Chevrolet years earlier that described the problem and said if it happened within 10 years or 100,000 miles they would repair it. Mine failed after the 10 years but at only 8,500 miles. This system of not actually recalling the car for repair but instead issuing the owner a “notice”, doesn't seem fair for someone who doesn’t drive their vehicle many miles but is still costly and potentially dangerous when it occurs while the vehicle is being driven.
Broken gear shifter cable.
Automatic transmission shift lever cannot be shifted from its "park" position upon starting the engine and trying to drive away. Applying the brake pedal in order to disengage from "park" position of shifter still won't allow lever to be moved from "park". The electrical circuit can't be completed to allow disengagement of shifter. This happens perhaps one out of every six or seven times you wish to drive the car. One must sit and make several attempts over several minutes to free the shifter. Very embarassing if you are in a line of cars at a gas station or fast-food take-out line. Many other Corvette owners have this same issue from years 2005 up to 2013.
