Other Fuel System Tank Filling/charging problems of the 2011 Chevrolet Corvette

I am a one-time owner of a 2011 Corvette grand sport vehicle. I have noticed that following a filling of the gas tank to full, a significant and persistent gasoline smell appears in my garage. I eventually brought my vehicle in for service on February 3, 2021 in order to determine the cause. I was told that a gas leak was observed from the top of the tank. In addition, I was told that the expensive replacement of the gas tank could not be found. I am now very reluctant to drive the vehicle.

Car has a very strong fuel odor when filling tank over half full. The fuel gauge will sometimes go to empty prompting a " service fuel system" message on display screen for 30-40 seconds, then goes back to previous level reading. I've owned car for 4 years, I remember getting a g. M. Recall notice in the mail about a fuel system recall shortly after buying it, but I can't find it now.
