Every time I drive my car theres a message on the dic that tells me to service actuve handling system. This light comes on whenever it wants to. I have done some research and it looks like there are multiple Corvettes with this problem.
While pulling/turning into traffic on a busy street. . My car's traction control system malfunctioned, and I was unable to accelerate, thus almost causing an accident. Since the incident. . I have experienced this issue a number of times. It can be very dangerous, as I now have to consider my car unstable while turning.
Lr tire began loosing air (overnight while sitting in my garage), I filled the tire only to find it low again the next day. I took the car to the tire shop expecting to find a nail in the tread, no holes were found in the tire so the technician sprade his solution on the rim only to find air leaking from a crack in the chrome rim. Further investigation uncovered multiple cracks on the rims at the rear of the car where the spokes attached to the rim. I thought if these rims are in this condition there must be more. This car is in brand new condition 27,000 miles garage kept and well cared for. The manager at palmen's Chevrolet sent pictures to Chevrolet with an explaination no bruses on the rim no idea of how it happened. I am guessing bad heat treatment, Chevrolet told me I am on my own.
My husband was pumping gas at a gas station on an interstate access road. Car was not running and was locked. He had been at the pump for about 5 minutes and then walked into the store for something to drink. All of a sudden I heard people yelling and turned to look and then saw my husband's unmanned car slowly rolling out of the gas station into the access road during rush hour. A couple of individuals tried to stop the car but it was locked and my husband had the keys in his pocket. Several vehicles swerved to miss the car but it eventually hit an individual's vehicle in the center lane of the access road causing damage to both vehicles.
The vehicle came to sudden stop, steering locked, and the active handling light came on. The vehicle was shut off for a few seconds and then restarted. It was a scary situation.
This vehicle (corvette) was parked , gear in reverse, with the emergency brake fully engaged , vehicle not running . While reaching in to press acess. Button inadvertanly pressed the start button which put the car into a strong violent moving reverse action, the Corvette hit my truck which was parked two-three feet behind Corvette and drove my vehicle a good ten feet before the Corvette stalled, the truck was not running ,truck was parked in gear with the emergency brake applied --the skid marks from my truck being pushed are still in my driveway and road.

Case is closed conclusion steel never installed the bypass, if so the steering lock actuator would not be need on 17 Dec 09 due to by pass installed on 15 Dec 09. This was a problem that could have cause a crash without any warning per gm recall#51397 plus steel charged gm for work never done, and me for parts and labor not needed. This year I decided to buy american,so I decided on Chevrolet Corvette zr1,I have contacted the dealer findlay Chevrolet and interestingly they want 20,000 above the sticker price,is that legal?no wonder american car companies are going under due to there greed.
Accident on 8/9/2008 front impact hit another vehicle in virgina, 2/2/2011 accident left side impact hit a curb, and an object. 12/15/2011 consmer bought. Found out that cooling fan has been glued, cooling fan has been wired which makes the fan to be always on, air filter missing bolts, sterring wheel locks and car gives error message and then just stops, informed dealer and they stated just to double click unlock b/c is just a security issue. Car was sold with broken rack and pinion. Dealer stated that is why you bought a 18k car and not a 60k car, you get it as is. They are using a bbb award and on website they are rated and f. Had one of their application processers check the car and stated everything was fine, he does not have certified mechanic license and was told that on 12/28/2011. More issues. . .
The contact owns a 2008 Chevrolet Corvette z06. When the vehicle was started and while driving at any speed, the contact noticed a strong chemical smell coming from the entire vehicle. The smell was first noticed when the vehicle was purchased and became stronger the more the vehicle was driven. The vehicle has not been diagnosed by the dealer. 2006 Corvette coupe, roof delaminating, dealer took car and is holding indefinitely, gm won't act any faster, won't issue a glass roof until new roofs come in. I was told I can't have my car until new roof arrives and they don't know when that is.
2004 Chevrolet Corvette power window regulators keep failing. Window will either not roll down at all, or sometimes the regulator cable will fray and window will partially go down. I have had two regulators on the passenger side and the current one no longer works. And I have just installed the third one on the driver side. This car only has 48,000 mile onit and it is babied. Yet these parts keep failing and the repair cost is $550. 00 per incident. 5 regulators in under 50,000 miles seems like a problem to me since I have owned 20 cars in my life and have never had this problem until now.
The consumer believes the recall remedy of removing the column lock also removes on of the vehicles theft deterrent features. Recall#04v060000.
Car incident, dated December 8, 2001. Highway exit, 8. 00 p. M. , on a straight street, start from the stand. After about 100 metres, going into the second gear with a speed of about 80 km/h, the car suddenly skidded to the right and rotated. Crashed against the guard rail with the right rear wheel. When the car was 3 or 4 months old, I was entering the freeway on the on ramp. I accelerated, but didn't put my foot to the floor, and then every light on the dash came on and the car completely shut down. Stopped. I turned the key off and restarted the engine and it proceeded normally. I reported it to scott irvin Chevrolet soon afterward but they found nothing. The lastest incident happened a few days ago. I was driving on the freeway at 2:30am. I was going about 70 when the warning bells started to sound. Then on the dash, the warning. . . Reduced power alternating with service traction system warning lights came on the dash. The yellow emissions light was also on. I had just had the car in the shop 3 weeks ago because that yellow emissions light was lit on the dash. Anyway, when all this started happening, I could feel the car lose power. I had no control. I was coming to a freeway interchange where there is a hair pin curve to connect to the next freeway. I had to slow, but coming out of the interchange to enter the new freeway, I could not get the car to do more than 20mph. I stepped on the gas but there was nothing. No power. I pulled over on the freeway and stopped the car fearing I would be hit from behind. I restarted my car, but still no power. I proceeded to the nearest off ramp at 20mph, and exited the freeway. Mind you, I am a woman, it was 2:30am and I had to stop on a deserted street. I waited for about 1 minute and restarted my car. It proceeded normally however the yellow emissions light remained lit on the dash. I again entered the freeway to get home and set the cruise control at 69. I got home and parked the car. I am going to take it in tomorrow for service. I purchased the car at martin Chevrolet but now terry york Chevrolet has been servicing it because it is close to my home. I have lost all trust in this car. It scares me to think that at anytime while I am driving, the car can malfunction where I have no control behind the wheel. Had it been.
Low coolant message flashes across the driver information center freqently because of unknown cause. Yh.
