Tl the contact owns a 2011 Chevrolet Cruze. The contact stated that while her son was driving approximately 45 mph, attempting to slow down the brakes began to lock. There was smoke coming from the dashboard of the vehicle. The driver pulled over and was able to stop the vehicle by applying excessive pressure to the brake pedal. The driver and the passenger of the vehicle were able to get out of the vehicle by kicking the doors to force them to open. Once the passenger was able to get out of the vehicle the passenger side of the vehicle was engulfed in flames. The fire department was called and extinguished the fire. A fire department report was filed. The vehicle was towed and deemed totaled. There were no injuries and no medical attention was needed. The contact spoke with fort Dodge Ford Toyota Lincoln (2723 5th Ave s, fort Dodge, IA 50501 phone: (515) 576-7505) who informed the contact of a recall for the brakes and low oil leaking causing a fire. The vehicle's VIN was included in NHTSA campaign number: 13v36000 (service brakes, hydraulics) however, the vehicle was never repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage 188,000.
Every time I put gas in my car check engine light, car stalls and wont start back up. I put gas in and either later that day or the next, I'm driving and it starts to stutter and I it's hard to accelerate. It begins to shake lightly and the it shuts down. In the past three months, I have spent over $1500 trying to diagnose and fix the problem. I have run out of tows from my insurance and am now paying out of pocket. There should be a recall on this issue, too many people are having the same issue.
My car needs 4 fuel injectors and gage was stuck open a driving hazard. Oil has neen leaking around valve covers amd replaced but do smell burning time to time got coolamt leak fixed last year.
My car is hard shifting and no gm dealer can figure it out they say nothing but take my money and my car will alert transmission hot idle engine very scary has even up and stopped going 35 miles in my hometown.
I have several issues with this car I have a mechanic looking at it now and I can give you a detailed report of every thing he finds wrong with it when he is done I do know that I loss engine power in the middle of the street while waiting to turn at a light.
It's been one year and my chevy Cruze has overheated twice. The first time the thermostat was wrong along with the thermo pipe that needed to be replaced. And now similar issue is happening where my car smells funny, I turn the heat in and the car will start to over heat and never warm the car.
1. Each time I get an oil change, the car smells like it's burning oil and it's really strong. 2. Had to replace the gas cap as it became stripped causing engine light to come on. Replaced with correct cap, light went out. Filled call with fuel, light came back on, now showing codes.
Vehicle has a very rough idle while stopped and while driving. When driving the vehicle will change roughly idle and speed up the vehicle. While in a stopping position the vehicle will roughly idle and the rpm indicator will bounce up and down. The engine light is on and the traction control warning and service esp warnings come on intermittently while in stopped position and then the vehicle will not accelerate properly. The most recent one revved and accelerated on its own, almost hitting the car at the stoplight in front of me.
Vehicle was on highway going to lexington ky from louisville ky. Car begin to smoke. Hose that was supposedly fixed on radiator was rigged and oil spilled from the hose causing it to go into engine. Engine overheated while driving on highway. Engine died. Had to get car towed from one city to the next. Got stranded in another town because could not obtain a rental car because they were closed. Since 2016 I have spent over $7000 on getting the same issues or related issues fixed. I have spent over $5000 in rental cars and I still owe $9000 on my car which I purchased from bales automall/bachman in jeffersonville indiana in 2014 with on 28,000 miles. I have kept my services up to date on the vehicle and have documentation for that. It seems once I begin to get oil changes at this location my car begin to decline. I would be told that I had one problem, they would fix it, and then something else would happen. In addition, I have a witness who is a family member who is experiencing the same problems with the same year and model car that she owns. I see her going through the same down spiral steps with her car as I did. It is almost like clockwork. I have read consumer reports about these vehicles and none have been positive. In fact, many who have a turbo engine will or have experienced this same issue. The car is a lemon. . . It needs to be recalled!! it is unfair that I purchased a car that was no good and that only ran good for two years before having to replace the turbo twice and the engine. Let me reiterate. . I still owe $9000 on this car. At this point I am clueless and I feel as if I was taken advantage of. When I reported this to the bbb;GMC and other sources they led me on for weeks knowing that they would not assist in the matter. Because of this whole fiasco I have anxiety in which I am taking medication. Please help dont know what to do.
2011 chevy Cruze waterpump recall- pace Chevrolet huntington, indiana dealership. My car overheated after the second visit trying to correct the poor recall repair. Please see below:. I took my 2011 chevy Cruze in for a waterpump recall. They completed the job in 1/2 of the normal time as quoted online. As soon as I pulled out of the garage it sounded like a waterfall under my dash! I pulled right back in. The tech lifted up my hood and said OH it was just burping the system and closed it. Second visit: 2 1/2 weeks later- I brought it back in. They admitted that air bubbles had become trapped in parts of my engine and they "bled" the system. Within 5 days my coolant was empty!! third visit: they called me and said that I had broken the coolant pressure release hose connector from my master mechanic husband butting some wires weeks before. How did I go two and a half weeks with it being completely full and coincidently 5 days after my second visit my coolants out and empty??? advised that gm will not pay for this and either will they. So I'll have to pay $185 for a $30. 00 part and 5 minutes of their time to swap it out. My husband's a mechanic, I would never go through all this trouble for a $30 hose connector. There was no accountability and I am so disgusted with them trying to blame me. Believe me, if it was me I would have no issues repairing it rather than to be disrespected like that. I also had squeaking coming from my belt, they neglected to look at that and didn't wipe up all the coolant under my waterpump until the third time. These are all things that are 100% expected of a dealership the first time in, especially for a manufacturers defect. I couldn't believe I had to waste all that time just for them to do their job and then try and stick me with a cheap part that they broke. Once a car overheats the pipes never return to normal.
Car does not properly accelerate, so much so that I need to use the hazard lights to avoid being hit by the car behind me when accelerating after stopping at a stop sign or red light. This is not safe. I have small children. I drove 40+ miles (city miles) and had no issues getting there, but then when I attempted to turn the car on again to return home, the temperature gauge showed the engine go from cold to hot very quickly, displayed the message "engine hot a/c off" and it started making a loud squealing noise. At this point I swerved the car off the road because my daughter and I feared for our safety and thought it was going to explode. I put the car in park, we both opened our doors and took off running from the car until we reached a safe distance. I had to have it towed 40+ miles to my home. The mechanic checked the vehicle again and found that the radiator had cracked and that the water pump needed to be replaced. He replaced the radiator and also the water pump, and ensured the proper amounts of all fluids. Also, whenever I attempt to drive on the highway, the front end of the car gets very hot and the "transmission hot idle engine" message comes on and the ac, which was working fine, does not work now. Still, the mechanic could find nothing wrong with the transmission! the heat from the engine and transmission come straight through the front of the vehicle, which with no ac gets super hot in addition to the 80+ degree weather in central florida (and it's not even summer yet!). Every time I have to have tried to refuel the car within the past 2 weeks of me having purchased it, the engine stalls and stalls and stalls. It takes 10-15 tries to turn the car back on every time I refuel. In addition to this, once you actually get the car back on the car jerks when put in drive. I have to keep my foot on the gas or the car will shut back off.
It's been going off and on every since I first got the car I smell a burning smell and it loses power is stalls and the dealership keep telling me it's just air getting into it but I know it's my turbo because my neighbor has one her turbo went out and I have two other friends that has one and both their turbo went out and now it's making a knocking noise and everyone that I have look at it say it's the turbo it's the wastegate I don't drive my car much and only has 26,000 miles on it because I'm afraid to drive it I've had it fixed more than 10 times it had a oil leak where would catch on fire but the dealership put turbo fans in instead of giving me a new motor so it's still flames up from the oil pan but they say the turbo fans is going to blow the fire out so it's not going to hurt me but I don't drive it far because I'm scared when it gets hot that's going to catch on fire and nobody would give me anything for it that's why I still have the car but I'm willing to just take a big loss and just let them have it back the doors open without touching the car with the electrical system the lights are just go out in the dash just random so I can't drive it at night I hope you can see the oil on the pictures it just shoots all over the place and when I take it to the dealership they say the recall is not on my car they have a recall on the turbo and the vacuum system but they run my VIN number and say it's not on my car when I first got this car it was quiet it caught on fire from an oil leak they fixed it now it sounds like a truck you can hear it three blocks away is stalls all the time and they tell me it's the gas I'm using I switch to premium gas and it still does it this car is junk I hope nobody ever buys it chevy should be shut down.
Check engine light shows up on dashboard, loud noise as though engine revving up, warning notification, a. C. Not working overheating. Car was in driving mode on city street.
It hasatates when exelorating and dass lights go light and dem for no rezen.
Takata recall the pcv valve is built into the valve cover, there is a spring in the pcv valve that fails causing the emissions computer to not work correctly. Failure of this spring cause rough idle, loss of power, and failed emissions test. Multiple reports have been made.
Picked up car from shop after paying over 800. 00 and the car stated to smell the car act as if it will catch a fire. Smoke coming out of the vents and under the hood. Called the dealer and no help the service manager will not return my call. I'm out of town two hours from my home. I will have to get a hotel room and I paid for rental car for two days already.
Transmission jerks extremely hard. When air is on car fails to accelerate at all. Idles on its own, jumps gears always. Fuel system is bad, it chokes constantly and wont start some days. It vibrates extremely hard and I had it serviced 1 month ago for shaft case. This is the worst car ever!!!!!!! its a danger to drive it wont pick up speed and when the air is on it wont move at all. If still at a light, it will jerk extremely hard to where it jerks me. When in park it idles itself. If I'm entering onto the highway it wont pick up speed even if the air is not on. When I reverse and go back to park it jerks extremely hard. I hate this car!!! sometimes it doesn't want to stop.
Fuel line connection leaks gasoline under right rear of car every time ignition key is turned on and will continue to leak when car is being driven. Failure can occur for no reason at any time. The location of the connector is highly susceptable to being damaged as it is unprotected and exposed extending under the vehicle. This is a known problem and no gm recall has been issued and is a possible fire hazzard.
These are some photos of the defective fuel line from previous complaint. The part number of the fuel line is 13269487 as shown in one of the photos. The entire description is listed in complaint, NHTSA id number: 10871417.
I bought the 2011 Chevrolet cruz in 2014, I used the car primarily for work so throughout the first few years I didn't notice anything strange as it remained parked most the time. When I did start driving it as a primary vehicle the first issue I had was the clutch and gear system seemed to be touchy when the car was in park, resorting to me using the emergency brake every time I would park it. At the time it didn't seem to be a big issue as it became a habit. In 2016 shortly after this my oil consumption and turbo failed, and the vehicles exhaust started blowing blue smoke and the car lost all power. As this was a new car I took it to a mechanic and had vehicles turbo replaced. Just over a year later in 2018 the vehicle is exhibiting the exact same effects such as removing and replacing the eco,1. 4l engine, turbocharger, evacuate and replace air conditioning system, and transfer of the fuel and electrical assemblies and engine mounts. I'm almost certain this car is defective and needs to be recalled.
When purchasing my auto 2011 Chevrolet Cruze I was not told that this 2011 Chevrolet Cruze had a coolant leak that the company could not repair. Before I purchased my 2011 Chevrolet Cruze a guarder plate was installed too keep the leak from burning off of the motor and no repair to stop the coolant leak. My 2011 Chevrolet Cruze over heated and I was sent a letter that Chevrolet company would replace the coolant once it get low. I told them that this coolant is also inside the cab of my 2011 Chevrolet Cruze and they said that I would be charged to have my 2011 Chevrolet Cruze checked for reason of leak but once coolant is leaked out or low they would replace it. This chemical is a labeled ¿a¿ poison for humans within it's label. Which I have had those affects from it's release at this point. I cannot get Chevrolet to fix this and they said that they'll not fix it just replace coolant just for 2016 after then they'll not replace leaked coolant. I asked them if I could have the 2011 Chevrolet Cruze checked without having a service charge and I was told I could not that I'll be charged a fee. I was offered a $2000. 00 voucher to purchase another auto. Being once stress of over heating or correct levels of coolant withing vehicle coolant functioning components cannot operate normally I'd have to replace those components and if not under components warranty I'll be charged service visit and parts and labor rendered. I mentioned that this coolant chemical burn off is causing sight effects and that it continues sending those chemical coolant fums into the cab of the vehicle and I'm taking medication for those sight effects of the coolant's chemical burn off. Again (general motors corporation legal agent said that's the legal offer and if not agreed active case file would be closed. On 3/10/2015 my case file closed with no resolution.
From a stopped position, I would accelerate through 1st gear, just before I change gears to 2nd. The whole car's electrical system goes haywire. All systems reset, most of the time this means I can a very bad jerk in between gears 1 and 2. A few times the car turned off. If the car does die, I am unable to start the car or jump it for at least 15 minutes. The longest I had to sit was over 30 minutes. Chevy's dic system tells me to check a variety of things, not always all of them. But usually check power steering and airbag systems. A few times it told me to check traction control systems. The check engine light has never come on in any of these instances. Chevy says this is due to a faulty ground wire, which they replaced and it continues to do this. This is a very dangerous situation, where if I was in a busy intersection I could easily be caught in an accident. Luckily, this has happened mostly in residential areas.
Practically every day I drive my car, I experience extreme shifting and transmission issues. Specifically, I have to floor the gas pedal for the car to move from 2nd to 3rd shift. This is an automatic car, and it drives like a poorly shifting manual. It is extremely unsafe to drive because it does not accelerate when I hit the gas pedal, rather the engine revs very high and loudly, yet the car does not accelerate. It also has made loud popping sounds from the engine, and the car fills with an exhaust smell, and during the winter coolant smell is obvious in and outside the car. I am very uncomfortable driving-and feel unsafe-driving this car and it is almost four years old with less than 50,000 miles! I have brought it to the dealership on the below dates and they cannot ?duplicate the issue?, thus have not fixed it. On one occasion, the dealership had my car for 3-weeks! I have no idea if the dealership is even daily testing, or driving, the car. I do know, however, it is extremely unsafe because the shifting and accelerating is unreliable and will most doubtable cause an accident injuring myself and/or others. I have also called gm and numerous occasions and they were very unhelpful, stating they never heard of a shifting/transmission issue with the chevy Cruze, when in fact the 2011 chevy Cruze was recalled for shifting lock cable. I have received, unsolicited; a letter from a lawfirm to sue gm noting this exact issues shifting/power issues (amongst faulty water pumps, which I also had replaced after only owing the car 2-years), so clearly there are many others experiencing these issues. Dates brought my car to (sullivan's oneills in avon, CT) 1/16/2015; 5/2/2015; 5/09/2015;5/13/2015; 6/24/2015; 7/17/2015 my gm service tickets are 71-1490864298 & 71-1490864298. The car is either a lemon, or needs to be recalled for shifting/transmission issues.
While driving the vehicle the engine light came on. The car only has 60,000. 00 on it but we took it in because the engine would just randomly stop and the car would stall. The vehicle when brought into the dealership, had been inspected and the car was missing parts. The intake manifold non return valve was missing. There was a vacuum leak at the pcv orifice external port. Water pump was leaking from bolt holes and cover plate. Coolant leak was found even though a few months prior to the leak, chevy "fixed" the recalled item. I believe that the vehicle has many faulty parts and this is the second time I have written a complaint about this company using faulty parts in there manufacturing process.
The first occurance happened on Jan. 20th 2015 on my way to work, twice. I noticed because the radio turned off and the service esp flashed with the traction light coming on with multiple other lights flashing. All of this including the radio flashed/turned off and on for about 2 minutes. Over the next week this happened 5 or 6 times. All of these happened while going between 30 and 40 mph and on trips between 30-45 minutes. I had about a week with none of this happening and then on Feb. 8th I was driving home, 20 mins from start to finish and twice the engine power reduced came on and I could not drive any where. I was going about 35 mph. I was able to pull over and turn my car off and on both times and make it home. Now my check engine light is on and I'm not sure if I can even drive my car or if it will die on me again.
As I was pulling out of my daughters school, my Cruze engine warning lights came on "reduced engine power" "check stablitrak" "service" warnings came on as well. My car lost all engine power and I was almost rear ended by a Dodge pickup, he was able to go up on the curb at the school and avoid an accident. Glad there was no one hurt on the curb. . Engine shaking violently while idiling. Stabiltrak warning on. Acting like it was going to die. Scared it would die while in traffic.
After the service date of April 21, 2014, for a coolant leak. I was notified by a service adviser that the engine service light was on which was not on prior to my visit. The engine service indicator light on the dash is still coming on and off based upon I would guess a number of starts and stops. I investigated what I could and found the gas cap was broken, not locking into place. So I purchased a new cap from the dealer and replaced it. I purchased a code reader and eraser, but still have the on/off indicator light on the dash. So, I have an appointment on 11/20/2014 with the dealer to check this third time coolant leak, change the oil and there inspection as well as the engine service light on my dash.
I was beginning to accelerate from at stopped position ready to enter traffic when the car hesitated to the point of stalling out. The problem is periodic. It's very scary to be pulling out into traffic and the car practically stalls. I told the dealership but they didn't take me seriously.
Mil p0171 code, replaced 3 valve covers because of the pcv and now I've been informed the intake manifold is defective.
2011 chevy Cruze transmission problem. Occasional hesitation accelerating, clunking jerking transitioning through gears accelerating or slowing down while driving on city streets and highway. Tried to accelerate on highway and car took a long while to get up to speed while other cars behind me were honking horns for me to speed up. Dealer says all is fine and that's just how the transmission and turbo engine is! can never duplicate this problem. Now no longer under warranty, the dealer is willing to keep the car for a longer period. Gm says it would "see" what they could do after the dealer physically inspects the transmission at my cost. The dealer charges $145. Per hr. Labor rate!! I went to another mechanic and had them change the transmission fluid because the dealer said the fluid doesn't need and he said it was black! had it changed after I read complaints on carcomplaints. Com. I am just afraid that it will quit on me while traveling at high speed! I can't afford to spend money on a new trans if I will continue to have the same problems. Gm should have a full recall on the 2011 Cruze. The car had only 29,000 mi. On it the first time I complained and now it has 69,000 and the problem manifests itself a little more frequently but not on a weekly basis. I am at my wits end and the problem is not in my head. People are in danger and gm isn't "owning" this problem. Extremely disappointed. I've maintained this vehicle faithfully with oil changes, etc. Since day one. . . Responded to all recalls. Not going to dealer again. Always have something to repair or replace.
I've had numerous of maniacal issues with the Chevrolet Cruze 2011. The most serious and deadliest is the coolant system issues the Chevrolet Cruze 2011 has. I was experiencing a cough along with migraines once engaging the air-condition nubs from heat to ac and some sleeping condition where I'd find myself speaking while asleep momentarily awaking. I'd wind my windows down while driving and I'd see that the migraines, coughing along with sleeping experiences would stop. I visited my Chevrolet Cruze 2011 dealership and explained the odor that was coming from my air cooling system. They cleaned my air cooling system and replaced my cabin filter feeling that this maintenance solved the issues I was having I felt I could use the cooling system with no problem. I was wrong. The migraines return along with the coughing and the odor when adjusting the cooling system nubs. I called the dealership to explain the ongoing maniacal problem. After a week of having my windows down my car ran hot and come to my dismay it was out of coolant. I received a letter from Chevrolet recall department that the vehicle has a coolant system issue were coolant leaks and that was the odor. The coolant was leaking onto the motor and burning off returning the odor into the cab of the car. I had it tested for repairs and had a water pump repaired for the vehicle, this did not stop the problem, the hose from the motor and coolant reservoir was replaced, did not fix the problem and the leaking of coolant continues. The recall stated that the only maintenance for this problem is refilling the reservoir with coolant intl the problem is found and fixed. That means I'll have experience each condition I mention above which has worsened. Now it's close related to seizure like encounters see objects move, feel weak, blurred vision and body jerks. I've asked for a rental intl the problem is found.
Many recalls on vehicle, over 5. Engine issues. . Car does not run well. . . I've taken the car multiple times in the past months. .
My 2011 chevy Cruze has an acceleration hesitation that causes me to feel totally unsafe in the vehicle. Starting about 6 months after I bought the car in 2011 the issue began. When I need to accelerate in certain situations such as pulling out on a road, passing another vehicle, accelerating after reducing speed, etc. Etc. The car loses power when I step on the gas for three-five seconds before slowly responding and accelerating to where I need it to be. It's as if the car dies for a few seconds. Those few seconds are always in situations when I need to be moving and I don't like it. I brought the car in to the dealership and was told that it was turbo lag. Thinking I didn't know much about cars, I let it go. The issue is getting worse (and there were numerous other little issues) so I brought the car in to another dealership right before it hit 36,000 miles and was told (on two seperate visits) that the problem was perfectly normal and that there was nothing they could do. They showed me a TSB from Chevrolet saying that the issue was normal. They also said they could not replicate the issue. Interestingly enough, when they had my car for a total of 7. 5 days (over two seperate visits) they gave me a 2013 Cruze to drive. The newer Cruze did not have the hesitation problem at all, it drove beautifully. This leads me to believe that gm realized there was an issue with the 2011 Cruze and was able to remedy it in the newer models of the car which leaves the many 2011 Cruze owners scared for their lives every time they drive their cars forever. That isn't right. There are thousands of people with the same year, make and model that have this same issue. It is dangerous!! just because no one that we know of hasn't died yet that doesn't mean that there isn't an issue. The 2011 Cruze is unsafe and someone needs to do something about it.
Ever since the purchase of the car I have experienced a hesitation upon acceleration at all speeds. I have also talked to a few people who have had the same complaint with their Cruze. We have been told that this effect is known as turbo lag. The dealers say the turbo charger takes time to catch up with the rotation speed of the engine. I have driven many cars with turbo charge in my life as an auto mechanic and have never felt this hesitation on any of them. Why would a turbo charger lag when it's whole purpose is to enhance acceleration. I took the car in to the dealer for the last recall and asked them to check into this phenomena while it was in the shop. They wrote on the repair order that they could not duplicate my complaint during the road test. I am concerned because a hesitation of this sort can be very dangerous especially pulling out into traffic. Please investigate this matter. I will continue to complain to the dealer because their stance seems to be that this is something chevy Cruze owners are forced to live with. I've already had some close calls due to this hesitation. Thank you.
