Check engine light, traction control light, tire pressure light came on. Message on dash reported reduced engine power, service stabilitrak, and car slowed to 16 no more than 20mph and would not go any higher.
The contact owns a 2012 Chevrolet Cruze. The contact stated that while his daughter was driving at unknown speeds, the vehicle lost motive power after 45 minutes. The rpm increased, and the vehicle failed to accelerate. The driver was able to pull over. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, who was unable to duplicate the failure. The contact stated that after driving for 45 minutes, the vehicle lost power and went into limp mode. The transmission had seized in fifth gear. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the speed control sensor had failed. The contact was informed that the speed valve and transmission control module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000.
The car began to shake uncontrollably on the freeway at 55/mph . The car then marked "engine power is reduced", causing the car to no longer accelerate more than 5-7/mph. This is a very dangerous situation because it can cause a terrible accident on the road since it's a random inconvenience. I have heard that many of these types of cars "chevy Cruze" seem to experience the same type of problem. With that being said it's safe to say that as an owner this situation is far out of my control and it's definitely a collective problem with the type of car and make that it is. I ask for this to be immediately looked into.
While driving at speed the traction control light would come on engine would start to jerk and then lost power.
Driving down the interstate doing 70-80mph and the car starts dinging-stabilitrack, traction control, and reduced power all come on and the car loses power without any warning and couldn't drive faster than 5 mph and had to get to the shoulder of the road without getting hit by other vehicles doing the same speed. This vehicle with this issue that came out of nowhere should not be driven on the road. I have had several issues with this vehicle and cel lights on but nothing that almost completely stops vehicle without warning and almost kills everyone in the car! I get they are trying to save the engine or whatever from further damage but I am pretty sure that I would like to live and not kill anyone else in the process of this so called safety precaution the vehicle takes on.
I was driving and the reduced engine power, service stabili track, check engine warnings came on. My car would only accelerate to 5mph. Luckily I wasn't on the freeway, was only going 20 mph and almost home. Very dangerous. I put an end code reader on it and it's a p2135 code, throttle positioning sensor. I have been reading chevy Cruze forums as well as in chevy forums in the past week, a minimum of 1000 people that I can see have had this issue. Many have been in accidents because of this. Its occured in mainly chevy Cruze but also impalas, GMC vehicles. I took it to the dealer and I need a new throttle body, there is no special coverage although its occured in thousands of vehicles if not 10s of thousands! it's dangerous! there is a special coverage for pedal accelerator fracture but they say mine is fine and not related to throttle body. This needs to be addressed with chevy and it should be recalled or have special coverage. Here is a readout from the mechanic.
I was driving in subdivision at 20mph and vehicle went into limp mode. It had a message saying engine power reduced, service stability track and check engine light was on. It would not accelerate more than 5mph. This is very dangerous! luckily I was not going 70 on the freeway. I've been reading on chevy forums and gm forums of this happening to thousands of people. Many got in accidents because of reduced acceleration to 3 or 5 mph. I took it to the dealer it has a p2135 code and is die to a bad throttle body and throttle positioning sensor. The chevy manufacturer is not willing to do anything about it although it's a known issue to chevy and GMC cars from many years of vehicles, from what I've read 2009 to current year. Mine is a 2012 chevy Cruze lt. There is a special coverage of pedal accelerator fracture but the dealer said it's not related to my issue, I have a hard time believing this. Here is a note of what the dealer looked at and diagnosed.
On multiple occasions while car is driving, check engine light turned on and car was unable to accelerate. (also happened once after car had been parked) it only lasts about an hour before car can accelerate again and then check engine light will eventually turn off. Also, car feels rough shifting between gears and has trouble accelerating often.
My brakes keep going "hard" and not functioning properly. About a year ago I had my master cylander, brake booster, microswitch in the brake vacuum line, maf sensor and air intake hose replaced because the mechanic said those were the issues, I went 2 weeks without my vehicle, including breaking down for multiple days out of state. Now here I am with the same issues. Before I had them replaced I was told that the microswitch in the brake system was already recalled and replaced. But since then it has failed again. I was told by chevy that they only do the recall once, but if they are replacing it with a faulty part shouldn't that be recalled again? I have two toddlers in my vehicle regularly and losing the power brakes could end very bad. The power brakes fail almost every day, usually the first time I hit the brakes after starting to vehicle. Witch make me think that its going to completely fail again soon.
Tl-the contact owns a 2012 chevy Cruze. While driving at 4 mph the Cruze control seized and the vehicle continued to accel. While in reverse the vehicle will do the same thing. The contact stated that in order to stop the vehicle the brakes had be jammed down hard. The part was fixed in 2014. However, the brakes still failed and the vehicle will not stop while in reverse. The dealer informed them that this is due to the brake micro vacum switch failing. The vehicle was taken to riley cheverolet Buick GMC 2033 christy dr, jefferson city, mo 65101 where they informed her of the problem. The manufacturer was informed and they told her that the parts are not covered under the recall. The failure milage was 34,000. Jw.
Car does not run right. When accelerating the car does not budge and stalls out. Found out if the ac is off it is less likely to stall out after stopping. Was told it is a possible clogged catalytic converter. The stabilitrak and traction control wanings pop up. Took it to auto zone and they told me it was bad gas. Something is off and it's not a easy diagnosis.
"transmission defect" a year ago I brought my 2012 chevy, Cruze to be inspected for stalling problems (hesitates) when increase in speed and jerks especially driving up a hill. I had to pay out of pocket for a diagnostic to indicate why it was hesitating when driving. Mechanic could not find code indicating any problem with the trans. Today, I'm without my vehicle for more than a week because my transmission went out in the middle of the road as I was driving. General motors is only willing to pay a third of the cost to get it repaired. I want restitution. I should not have to pay for something I warned them about a year ago when I still had a warranty at the time. If a mechanic doesn't see a code reading, it does not justify charging the customer after the complaint was reported. I have receipts showing proof of documentation indicating what I was bringing it a year ago. I believe they should take into consideration the customer's complaint, regardless codes not reading.
This car has had issues since we purchased it brand new in 2012. Does not accelerate when merging on freeway or trying to pick up speed. It puts the driver at a very high risk of an accident. This car was purchased for my daughter to attend college and she feels very unsafe. We have had to have it towed and taken into shop several time for check engine light and loud shaking noise. This car has been nothing but a nightmare and seem to think based on reviews that these cars fall into the lemon category. We will be taking it to a very reliable mechanic this week and will wait to see what they find.
I was driving down the interstate and my car started to lose power. The engine reduced power and service stabilitrak messages came up and the check engine light and traction control light came on. I got of the interstate and putted along, barely able to accelerate at stop lights, until I made it to my local chevy dealership. They don't seem to know what is going on and I'll probably end up doing a trial and error with sensors and throttles. A few weeks ago a similar incident happened while I was driving down a residential road (25mph), but everything turned off (dash, a/c, radio, digital speedometer, etc) and my car powered off for a few seconds and then came back on again. This is seriously a scary problem to have.
Chevrolet Cruze 2012 delayed steering when turning, then sluggish would not go past first gear. I was driving on city street noticed difficulty turning and slowness so stopped at nearest gas station. Got vehicle towed to dealer and diagnosed with transmission failure. This was sudden, always kept up with regular maintenance, oil changes & tune ups! this should not happen to a car barely 5 years old car and well maintained!.
Car when in park with parking break and idiling in neutral. The steering wheel will jerk, the speedometer will spike at max speed and doors will lock and all dash lights flash on. While driving down the road between 25 to 45 mph the radio will turn itself off and then back on for no reason. Also while turning at slow speed, car will reset itself. As in it will lose all power to the power steering, ac, radio, everything and you will have to restart the car. Not safe at all when driving in traffic.
The contact owns a 2012 Chevrolet Cruze. While driving 70 mph, the engine revved but the vehicle failed to move forward. The roadside assistance indicator illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer were it was diagnosed that the accelerator pedal was fractured. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 134,474.
I was starting to cross a busy intersection when the engine loss power light and stability control light came on. Car would not go over 5 miles an hour. Just about 90 days ago it was at the chevy dealership for same problem where the throttle body and all sensors were replaced.
61,000 miles and car is showing repeated p2135 codes for throttle/pedal senor issue and places the car in limited power mode. Event has happened during warm-up, at stop signs and lights, local street speeds, and during highway travel/speeds. I have cleared the issue using obd ii tool and phone app.
The contact owns a 2012 Chevrolet Cruze. The contact stated that after starting the vehicle and shifting into reverse, the vehicle drifted and accelerated independently, causing the contact to crash into another vehicle. The contact shifted into drive and crashed into the garage and the toolshed from their residence. A police report was filed. There was one injury reported that required medical attention. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 23,300.
I have noticed that the acceleration takes alot to go from 0-30 mph and when it does the car feels as though it will stall. There is a half tank of gas, and no indication it should be doing this. Oil is changed regularly. This has happened a few times before this incident of today. The gas pedal needs to be almost to the floor for it to even pick up and when it does accelerate it jumps between the gears and the rpm goes beyond 4-5 to get it to even 20mph. I did have an incident when the car stalled as I was in reverse. That happened at around 30-35k miles. I decided to google the acceleration issue and see I am not the only one. My car itself has had 3 recalls fixed.
Tl- the contact owns a 2012 Chevrolet Cruze. The contact stated that while waiting at a complete stop and upon pulling into the driveway, the contact applied the acceleration pedal which suddenly had fractured with no warning. The failure slightly caused the contact to bump into the rear of another vehicle that was in front of the contacts vehicle. The contact attempted to reverse the vehicle but the acceleration pedal was completely fractured. The insurance company towed the vehicle to the dealer and they were waiting for instructions from the manufacturer to repair the vehicle. The VIN was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 35,000. Dyd.
My chevy Cruze has been experiencing similar problems from past repairs and would shut off while driving. While driving the car would lose power, multiple warning lights would flash on the dash, the car would lose the ability to accelerate and the doors would unlock while driving. This has occurred several times yesterday (6/23/15): while driving over a bump at a low speed and while merging onto the freeway at about 60mph. During yesterday's incident I had to go into the emergency lane and put my emergency lights on as my car lost the ability to accelerate. The car lost power for a few seconds and the car would gain power immediately after. There have been two prior incidents where my car has lost complete power while driving, both times a safety report has been filed. This is a very scary issue and hope that this does not occur again.
I received my chevy Cruze in November of 2014 used with aprox. 59k miles. April 7th driving down a highway at 55-60mph it suddenly started slowing down and would not accelerate. It would jerk and the engine would rev like if you were to be idle and in park and press the gas that's the sound it made. I did not notice the check engine come on or any other lights as I was trying to control my car. The speedometer and rpm indicator started acting erratically while doing so. The gauge would go up and down and the car was slowing down. The steering also became very soft. If I were to take my pinky finger and turn the wheel it would have moved that's how soft it was. All this happened multiple times during a 30 minute time period. After I slowed down and tried going over 30mph it would start to act up again. While this was happened I only had 66k miles. I got it towed to the dealer instead of taking my chances driving it there. It was sitting there a week before they even touched it and they claim they cant find anything wrong with it. I think chevy dealers claim they cant find anything when your car is still under warranty so they don't have to fix it.
I was driving, and the radio dash began to flash on and off. Then the steering became very difficult, and the power steering light came on, the words "service power steering" came on, then the car began to pulse, and then "service traction" came on, then the car shut off completely.
While driving approx. 40 mph, vehicle stalled, traction stability and check engine lights illuminated, and steering locked. The radio shut off and the radio screen/ env control panel flickered on and off continuously. I continued to drive the car since I was a short distance from home. Checked the battery connections and all seemed to be tight. Drove car to work today but didn't have the issue. I literally just bought this car a week ago and it passed MD state inspection. I am wondering now if the inspection included a obd check.
Reduced engine power. This has happened several times to this vehicle temporarily, then automatically resets. This is unsafe because you need the engine power in making turns, and especially on the highway in the city of atlanta. The engine throttle failed and I had to come out of pocket for that, and for a failed wheel bearing and for a turbo explosion on the highway. That is a lot for a car that is 3 years old, and purchased brand new. This car has been recalled for air bags, brakes, and the oil pan. I consider it lemon and would like to report this. I won't buy american again until I see some major progress.
While driving to work I was signaling to switch lanes for my exit off the freeway. Began to merge and my steering wheel locked. Luckily it's wasn't for long and the freeway was not busy. However the fact that my newly purchased vehicle has a glitch is saddening. What's even worse theirs no maintenance light or check engine light, something to make the dealership believe their is a problem. Only a flashing light that says check stabilitrack, traction control, powering steering and at the same time my abs service light begins to flash. Really hope chevy puts out a recall. .
This is a very well known problem with chevy owners. I have done countless hours of research and seen hundreds of forums and articles related exactly to this specific issue. Now it has to be brought to the attention of the federal government to issue a recall. I own a 1. 4l turbo automatic 2lt chevy Cruze 2012. This problem has been happening since the first year I purchased the vehicle however is getting much worse. Reduced engine power. The engine light comes on, a "!" shows up on the screen and the cars speed is reduced to 4 or 5 mph with in a matter of seconds. This has happened to myself as well as hundreds of other people from what the internet says. This is very unsafe especially considering some people have families and drive with children such as myself on highway systems. I experienced this while trying to accelerate into an intersection and got an immediate engine speed reduction. This could have killed my daughter and I if the vehicles in the intersection were unable to stop in time. Please do what is necessary to get this vehicle part or issue recalled and or recognized immediately!.
I bought my 2012 chevy Cruze in September 2014. Since I have had it, when driving any where, when I press the gas pedal to drive, the car sounds like it rares up to loud. I have to take my foot off the gas, then press gently and drive slow, inorder for the car to not make that sound. My car is not a straight drive, it is automatic, therefore it should not be making that sound as if it's in the wrong gear. Is this going to be a very bad problem down the road?.
When the speed of the car starts to reach 50 miles a high pitch sound occurs. I cannot determined if it is related to when air conditioner is turned on. The noise will diminish when speed is lowered to about 45 miles. I cannot recall if this happens in the colder months but it does seem to happen in the summer.
The contact owns a 2012 Chevrolet Cruze. While preparing to park, the contact depressed the brake pedal and the vehicle accelerated. The failure occurred while driving 9 mph in a parking lot. The clutch and brake pedals were applied simultaneously to stop the vehicle. The failure occurred regularly when the vehicle was in second or third gear. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was 45,000.
2012 Chevrolet Cruze. Consumer writes in regards to engine shield modification the consumer stated after the recall was performed, all the lights on the dashboard illuminated , power was reduced and the word engine power reduced appeared illuminated as well. The consumer took the vehicle back to the dealer. After checking all the wiring near the locations of the cuts of the shield, the dealer tested other possibilities and informed the consumer, that cause was a bad potentiometer on the gas throttle.
Purchased 4/25/2012. After driving a little, noticed lack of power, easily stalls, something rolling around in the trunk lid, console piece gaped out, passenger side tail lamp inside trunk bent, engine shutters (after 500 miles it started) when turned on and off. The lack of power and engine stalling are the major safety concerns. When in a stopped position, the car will stall when the clutch is operated correctly. While making a right hand turn from a stop sign, onto route 30, at a blind intersection, the car would not move, once I let the clutch out and was in 1st gear, the car just did not move, I had the gas pushed to the floor and I was only moving inches forward. I was scared, I had my child in the car with me, a tractor trailer could have come up on me 50+ mph hit me or swerved to miss me and hit someone else. The car finally moved after about 45 sec. I then got up to speed in 6th gear. The car then again lost power, I had to down shift from 6th gear to 4th gear to get speed built back up. I got home, about 2 miles, was upset and scared, called apple Chevrolet, the car sat until I drove it to the dealership 35 mins from my home the next morning. I told them that it does not happen every day so the chances of it happening again are slim. This would be the 3rd visit to the service dept for the lack of power complaint. I drove with the tech anyway knowing that it was not going to be duplicated. I told the service rep that I wanted a turbo boost gauge put on it because it does not seem to be boosting all the time. When I was called that my car was done and nothing was duplicated, I was told that it was boosting in range. When I picked my car up the next day, there was nothing on my bill that stated that the turbo was even checked. I was told that they cannot put every piece of equipment that they use on each car on every bill. Etc. . .
Tl-the contact owns a 2012 Chevrolet Cruze. The contact stated that while driving 5 mph the vehicle would lack power to accelerate to second gear. The rest of the gears function well, however, changing from the first gear to the second gear sounds like the engine would stall. The problem had existed for two years. The dealer was notified of the defect. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 44,000. An.
