Wheel problem #1

I have a 2016 Chevrolet Cruze and the turbocharger intercooler hose basically broke from where the end of the hose starts and a little bit down in the middle area of the end part of the hose. And this caused my engine's power to be reduced inmensly. To the point that I had my foot pressing all the way down on the accelerator and it could not go any further down, and my car was moving slower than a turtle, and this is not an exaggeration! and also, at times when I have been at a red light my car turns off. One time my car turned off while I was driving on the street with cars behind me. Luckily, I was able to pull into a shopping center. And the air conditioner is also failing because I keep putting free on so it can be colder and all that comes out is hot air. I did not know that this intercooler hose was a major part of my vehicle's function. Also, the traction light came on, when I already had it off. If Chevrolet Cruze owners do not know about this issue, they need to know. Because this issue could eventually mess up the entire motor and possible blow it out. Which we all know a new motor is very expensive.

Wheel problem #2

On [xxx], the right front passenger side control arm/ball joint broke as my daughters were driving home. The car was in motion on a major street in kansas city, KS when the control arm/ball joint broke. My daughter was in the right-hand lane when it broke as the car was in motion. The front of the car forcefully propelled in the air, landed, and jerked my daughter into the side walk. Afterwards, she fought the car over to the left-hand turn lane to stop in a somewhat safer spot on a major street. My oldest daughter driving suffered neck injuries from the seatbelt and my youngest daughter bumped her head. Both were hurt. An independent mechanic diagnosed the issue as well as hendrick Chevrolet in shawnee mission kansas. The parts are available for inspection. Hendrick Chevrolet failed to properly diagnose this issue when my car was in their care and service department on 06/14/24. I paid for an inspection but hendrick Chevrolet's technician failed to record play in the broken wheel and if the car was in need of an alignment. This is unacceptable behavior considering the technician had both front tires off to inspect the brakes and was paid to perform a complete inspection on my car as described in chevy's inspection literature provided by the dealership. He also provided an incorrect brake pad measurement. Through several Chevrolet/chevy Cruze online forums, Cruze owners have asked several questions and recorded several comments regarding having a broken control arm and having to replace the ball joint bolt. Also, recalls were previously issued with other gm vehicles having a right-front passenger side defective control arm, which potentially could be a gm fabrication issue with control arms. No warning lamps, noises, or messages alerted to this issue. This would have been a fatal incident involving my daughters and other drivers if it occurred on the highway at a higher rate of speed. Wheel problem #3

Purchased a 2016 Chevrolet Cruze on [xxx]. [xxx]. As of July 26th I paid $862 on repairs for the car to be smoking this morning on my way to work [xxx]. In total I’ve spent almost or close to $2,000 in car repairs. This purchase was for my 17 year old daughter as a graduation present and for college. She was driving and car started to run hot and cut off in a busy intersection. She was unable to take the car to north carolina. The owner blocked me and the staff haven’t been accommodating since this process. Nor will they look at the car. This has put me in a financial burden and the safety conditions this vehicle is under. And damage this could have cause my daughter. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

Wheel problem #6

Noticed all 4 wheels are starting to rust on my 2018 chevy Cruze. Owned many, many cars and have never had wheels rust. If this continues, over the years worried wheels will crack and accident will happen. I took car to leader automotive service and they were aware of problem. Said they could coat each wheel for approximately $180. 00. Why is this my problem when the manufacturer of the wheel should replace defective wheels. Thank you for listening.

Wheel problem #11

Own a 2018 chevy Cruze, purchased off showroom floor in July 2018. Since then the tires have all been replaced 3 times due to blow outs or buldging. That is 12 brand new tires in less than a year! when received a blow out the car was in motion. The type of tires are hankook ventus v2 205/50/r/17. The date span is approximately January to the present.

All has to do with electrical. Noticed brown rust on inside of driver side back wheel. Passenger front tire continues to deflate.

Wheel problem #16

Routine tire rotation performed by Chevrolet dealer (schumacher Chevrolet, little falls, NJ) rotated tire but failed to reprogram tpms. The tmps system identified slow leaks in both rear tires but in reality the front tires were faulty.

Wheel problem #17

I, chasity combs, was driving and was stopped at a stop light. When the light turned green I proceeded to excel forward. The car was only going between 10-15 miles per hour when without hitting or curbing anything my tire blew. Right after the tire blew all (6) six of my airbags deployed. When the airbags deployed the car quickly filled with smoke like air. The airbags caused me to not be able to see and I steered the car off the side of the road. At such time, onstar came across the speakers and asked if we were in an accident and if we needed the police &/or an ambulance. We yelled to the onstar person that we thought the car was on fire because of the smoke like substance and that we needed the police that we were on only vehicle that had been in an accident. I still have no clue what transpired in the event of the tire blowing especially since I didn't hit anything or curb anything. And I still don't know why the airbags deployed when they shouldn't have. I am educated on the requirements of deployed airbags and never at such time did I ever meet these requirements especially for all (6) six of the airbags to deploy. I never hit anything at a speed of 14 mph, nor was I tee boned from both sides, nor did our car role over. Which is the main reasons for all (6) six of the airbags to deploy. On another note the airbags on the drivers side, my side, deployed with such force that the airbags broke my glasses, my cell phone screen, and broke the ignition key off in the ignition. The airbag that protects the drivers knees left a bruise the size of a grapefruit on my leg. I never seemed medical attention. As for the passenger side airbags, they didn't have any force behind them. The airbags never even touched my wife at all and she didn't have any injuries at all. The tire in which we are discussing is the front passenger tire.

Wheel problem #18

I was experiencing trouble with accelerating and I pulled over and the engine burst into flame and totaled my car. Called 911 and the fire department put int out.

Wheel problem #19

I had my car serviced at a local gm dealership (suburban Chevrolet in ann arbor, mi), where my tires were rotated, oil changed, and a recall fixed. As I left the dealer/service department that day I felt my car pulling slightly to the right. I didn't think anything of it until the following day when I was driving in to work and the pulling continued, with my steering wheel slightly wobbling. I left work for an appointment a few hours later and as I was driving my steering wheel started shaking more violently. I immediately pulled off at the first available exit, which was luckily the one for my father's work. I drove to his place of employement where he came out to check to see if my wheels/tires were ok. He found that all lug nuts on all four tires hadn't been properly tightened and were only "finger tightened. " once he was sure to properly tighten all lug nuts I left and returned to the highway to get to my appointment. The steering wheel was no longer shaking, and while it continued to pull slightly, it was nowhere as severe as it was prior to the lug nuts being tightened. Majority of driving was highway.

Wheel problem #21

Takata inflators, car crashed for unknown reasons, injured 3 children, outside the car, and not one airbag deployed.

Wheel problem #22

My tires kept splitting as if my tires were being cut. Kept having problems with tires having cuts/splits. I kept getting tires balanced thinking tires were off balanced or needed rotating but problem continued. Tires would go down after being driven and then parked. Happened more than once. I had to change original tires to stop the problem.

Wheel problem #23

The outer rim of the wheel broke off from the inner 'star' of the wheel leaving the inner part of the rim and the lug nuts attached to the car. The tire and outer rim detached from the car causing damage to the car's body. The car fell to the pavement when the outer rim broke away causing body damage to the front end of the car. This occurred around 7:30pm on 2/29/2016. The pavement was dry, clear and free of debris.

Wheel problem #24

All the wheel hubs went bad at 40k miles. They all made very loud vibrations while driving at speeds between 25-75. They are supposed to last 300k. Not covered under any warranty.

Wheel problem #25

Vehicle began with squeaking noise as I drove home and when having it checked out, I was told I needed new struts and the tires had worn out due to struts. The vehicle is a 2013 Chevrolet Cruze lt with good driving and 37,000-40,000 highway miles. Never had struts wear out on a vehicle this early.

Wheel problem #26

Three weeks ago, I started hearing a noise from the back left tire. Two days ago the esp and traction light went on as well as the brake fluid light. Everything just started hitting at the same time. I think the car is rigged to have everything go bad once the warranty period is up. Would like to know if this is covered since so many people are having problems with it. I can't afford to fix it but this is my only means of transportation.

Wheel problem #27

Tpms went on thanksgiving morning tire pressure was 10. Filled tire up to 32, went back out later tire pressure was at 10. Check it before going to sleep, tire pressure was at 4, filled it up to 37. Checked it in the morning and it was 4. Took car to discount tire, technician said there was a bubble on my tire and it could not be repaired needed a new tire. 163. 00 later. This car is only six months old and I should not have to be replacing it. They are firestone tires and I am very angry that I have to put a new tire on my brand new car.

Wheel problem #28

I was driving down the freeway at 65, the car jolted to the left unexpectedly and then corrected. It didn't feel right so I got off freeway exit and pulled into a parking lot. As I entered the lot the right front wheel severed from the axel and car skidded to a stop. The car had a recall right after I bought car in may, for a front axel right half shaft fracture. This was repaired in August.

Wheel problem #29

Vehicle turned off in the middle of taking a left turn. Caused the car to go off the road into a graded lot. At this point causing my tire to go flat and damaging the fender and passenger door. This is not the first time the car has turned off on me. I have had it in the shop 3 times in the 4 months that I have owned this vehicle and still nothing is resolved.

Wheel problem #30

I parallel parked my car on a hillside street with the front wheels angled to touch the concrete curb per the city's hillside parking rules. I removed the key and locked the doors. When I returned to drive home after the car was safely parked for about 1 hour ( time was about 6:30 pm--still daylight) I could not turn the ignition key to unlock the electric steering lock. None of the electrical accessories worked because the steering wheel was locked. I couldn't open the electric windows, so I was sweating with all the windows closed. I was able to call onstar with my cell phone for help and they confirmed that my battery was fully charged and they had me try my other ignition key and to repeatedly turn/rock the steering wheel forcefully to unlock it with the key in the ignition. After nothing worked, the onstar service person said he would call a tow truck for service. After we hung up, and I was waiting, I tried the ignition key again, and the key turned and unlocked the electric steering lock. I could start the car to drive again. I called onstar back to cancel the tow service call. I took the car to my Chevrolet dealer 3 days later for a routine maintenance appointment I had made 3 weeks before. Nothing they could do, except advise me not to angle the front wheel when I parked & locked the car. This does not seem like a safe way to design an steering ignition lock. It took me over 45 minutes to finally unlock the steering wheel & start the car.

Wheel problem #31

Tire blew out in tread area hole the size of a quarter. Second tire blew out a hole size of fifty cent piece in sidewall approx two weeks later.

Wheel problem #32

I am a very frustrated mother with this vehicle purchase. I purchased a Chevrolet Cruze for my son as a gift for his high school graduation February 2, 2014. A month later there was a stop on sales because of the dangerous recall for the front axle right half that can break. The car has been sitting in the dealer for 2 months and I am making payments on a vehicle that we cannot even use. I know it is not the dealers fault , it is the GMC manufacturing company. I know someone needs to be held accountable for this. This is a disgrace to our country. How can one of the biggest car companies in the united states be so irresponsible? after all the bailout money that was giving to them out of our tax dollars. I do not even feel safe for my son to drive that car any more even if they replace the parts. I would probably need to get a second or third opinion. What am I my supposed to do trade in the car for what? for another vehicle that has more recalls. It looks like all of the GMC vehicles have recalls. We purchased the Cruze because it was economical on gas and look I have a frustrated teen that is starting college in less that a month and cannot drive his brand new car. I keep getting messages about other recalls, the recent one was the defective air bags. Please tell me what I can do to feel better. I called GMC asked to talk to a supervisor and waited and waited and they wasted my time because no one wants to hear a mother complaining about her child's safety. If everyone would do their job correctly, no one would be having these problems. I really hope someone is held accountable for all of this. How can they replace the parts with used parts? I really hope that all of us being affected by these get some incentive to keep our cars and to help us to ease our frustration. I am really concerned about my son's safety. Help!!! thanks so much for your time.

Wheel problem #33

My 2012 chevy Cruze suddenly developed vibration in the front end as well as pulling to the right. Pulled over to inspect it and found a large bulge in the sidewall on the front passenger side tire. I drove it to discount tire where they said it was not safe to drive and it needed to be replaced. They wont get into any warranty/defect issues they referred me to the chevy dealer for that. I did have them put the old tire in the trunk. When I got home I pulled it out to look at it and on the inside of the tire right where the bulge is the tire is cracked on the inside. Ugh! I called continental and they said I need to take the car to chevy and have them inspect them and they will contact continental to see if they are considered defective.

Wheel problem #34

Tl- the contact owns a 2011 Chevrolet Cruze. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle the tire monitoring system would erroneously indicate that the tires were not fully inflated and after inspecting the tires there was no problem found. The contact also indicated that the driver side mirror could not be adjusted therefore the driver was unable to see out of the mirror to view oncoming vehicles. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The failure mileage was 25,000. Jft.

Wheel problem #35

I was driving to work around 6 am my dash board blinked off and on and showed an error "traction control/stabilitrack. " I have taken the vehicle to the dealer at least 3 times and they tell me when the vehicle is in their care it does happen. The last time I let them keep the vehicle for a 1 1/2 weeks and it happen the next day I drove it. Now I'm trying to figure out who is going to reimburse me for the rental I needed.

Wheel problem #36

After driving this vehicle for 660 miles, I've noticed that there's a grinding or knocking feeling on the accelerator. I first noticed it while pulling it out of my driveway. I felt a knocking on the accelerator. It's not weather sensitve and gives the same feeling regardless of speed. It's no predictable for the knocking feeling I get on the accelerator. I drive on highway for much of my time and notice the feeling similar to my old car when the bearings started to go bad. It seems as though it's coming from the front left side. I have reported this to my dealer and they quickly have looked at it as well as taking it for a drive. After checking the car over nothing has been found to be wrong. It is now documented with the dealer. Currently I have over 1k miles on it and seems to have gotten worse.

Wheel problem #37

Hello, my name is asaf foox and I am an israeli citizen. I own a Chevrolet Cruze 2011, israeli VIN: 2904875. I read the articles regarding issues found in the vehicle's ignition switch for some Chevrolet models but I haven’t read about cruse as a suspect to such an issue. I wanted to pay your attention to an issue I had with my car around 1. 5 years ago which is similar behavior to what you found out with the other models. After starting the engine while in parking, I switched the gear to reverse and started to drive back to get out of the parking space when suddenly I lost the steering of the wheel (like there was no oil pressure) and lost the brakes (the paddle was stiff and did not control the wheels). During the incident my family, including my wife, was with me in the car. My wife immediately understood that something was wrong and started to ask me what is the matter (she was an eye witness to the scenario). I had to shut down the engine (turned the key to off) and started the engine back again in order for the car to start reacting properly again. Needless to say my wife and I were shocked by this and I took the car on the morning of the next day to the formal Chevrolet garage to report the incident and request them to check what went wrong here (as the formal garage – they hold an historical record of my complaint). After I was told by the garage that they couldn't find any problem, I had no choice but to accept the car but it bugged me until present time. In order to make sure your investigation will not skip a possible fatal issue with the cruse model (if the issues are the same), I simply wanted to point your attention to my small “adventure”. Please feel free to contact me and I will be happy to assist you further (if needed) – email: asaf. Foox@gmail. Com cellular: +972-54-2254222.

Wheel problem #38

Tl- the contact owns a 2012 Chevrolet Cruze. The contact stated while driving 30 mph he heard noise coming for the wheels of the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the dealer for diagnosis. The dealer stated that there not sure what was the failure. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure and the current mileage was 6,000. Jp.

Wheel problem #39

The contact owns a 2011 Chevrolet Cruze. While driving approximately 65 mph, the contact noticed that the tire pressure light was illuminated, indicating that the the front passenger side tire was flat. After inspecting the vehicle, the contact noticed that the rear driver side tire was flat and not the front passenger side tire, as the warning light indicated. The contact replaced the tire with the spare. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing or repairs. The approximate failure mileage was 26,861.

Wheel problem #40

I just bought a 2012 chevy Cruze. At take off and turning around curves at low speed the steering and the wheels shake. I took it to the dealership. And couldn't find anything wrong with it but it continues to do it. Very upsetting that it is brand new and already having problems. I really like my car but wish it was fixed.
