My key to my car won't turn. And when you do get it started by hitting it the key falls out while driving. This is my third time replacing it but saw there's been recalls for the lock ignition switch for this model. It's started happening again a year after I last replaced the lock ignition switch.

Bad ignition switch.
A loud pop occurred during operation of the vehicle at appproximately 40 mph and then a noticeable change in the suspension was felt. In testing the vehicles ability to travel to a repair center the brake peddle would drop to the floor as if it lost compression. This occurred after carefully observing the troublesome behavior of the turning capabilities and suspension of the tires. It seemed to make an awful grinding noise when making right turns but not left turns. Previously before these problems arose, the apparent issue of the electrical system and its functioning parts(power doors, windows etc. ) were malfunctioning, including the radio. At the initial purchase of the car the only seemingly harmless thing to mind was the sticking of the ignition switch at times. To date, the car is not able to reverse from parking position, and has a new issue of locking up totally and not able to engage forward. The car is not able to be driven and when searching for cheaper insurance (byvin) we were immediately, under no uncertain terms alerted that the car was unfit to be insured. This was told and sent in written form to us from a reputable insurance agency.

Also, the check engine light would come on and the vehicle would suddenly shut off. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who replaced the fluids in the vehicle. The ignition switch in this vehicle is defective. The key may be removed from the ignition at any time, even if the car is running. The ignition switch may lock at any time so that the car may not be started. The ignition switch damages the car key causing the cylinder to be filled with metal shavings. This is an ongoing, well known problem. Gm's answer is to clean and lubricate the ignition cylinder. This does not remedy the problem.
I had to have my battery replaced today. My battery had to be replaced due to the ignition switch that is not completely turned off when I put the car in park. For a year or so I have been able to drive down the road and my cars key has been removable from the ignition switch. I have asked about the ignition switch before to my dealership over the years with no resolve. Since the recall of other gm models during the same year my car was made recently I have read over these issues and my Equinox is having the same issue. I do not have to put my car in park for the key to be taken out of the ignition switch. Now my battery is being compromised due to it not completely being able to shut off.

The key fails sometimes to turn in the ignition cylinder, went to mechanic, ignition switch needs replacement.
Ignition switch has problems - the key will not go in at all, or partially goes in and gets stuck, goes in fully and gets stuck, or comes out while the engine is still running. Currently the key will not go in rendering the car totally inoperable. The car is hard to start at times - it takes several tries to get it to turn over, even though I have regular maintenance done. The headlights may or may not go to high beam and the dash lights may or may not turn on at all. There is constant fluctuation. Due to the countless complaints I have read with regard to the same problems I believe that this fact alone should mandate an instant recall. I am disabled and this is my only means of transportation to my doctors for frequent treatments the cost to repair my vehicle is not within my reach.
The right front wheel brake began to lock up causing the vehicle to pull to the right. The abs and traction control light came on. I had to have it replaced twice now. The electrical harness keeps falling off do the metal clip it hooks onto rusting. The wiring harness clip on the end where it connects to the hub is shot. The abs light is constantly on. I've tried to clean it many times to no avail. I'm sick and tired of this problem. No matter what I do, it still causes problem. And I am a PA certified inspection mechanic. I've never seen such a poor brake system in my life. I have replaced the front rotors and brakes 4 times now, and probably will have to replace them again in August of this year, 2015 when my state inspection will be due. The joke of it all is that the rear brakes are still the original brakes and stand at the last inspection at 8/32. This tells me that the brake distribution equalizer is not working. All my stopping power is on the front brakes. My Equinox is 10 years old. Surely by now the rear brakes should have been replaced a few times. There is only 38,300 miles on this vehicle now and it looks like new. I take exceptionally good care of my vehicles. Every 3000 miles the oil and tires are rotated, and everything else is inspection by me. I was going to buy a 2015 Equinox, but was torn away by the delays of Chevrolet on these problems. In the end, these vehicles should be recalled and the entire abs system should be completely re-examined and repaired. Finally after 3 years, I now got a new ignition and 2 new keys. Ya. Thank you !!!!! if I have too, I will make a video on this, as I did the ignition switch and send it in. This is not the first time for the brakes its been happening for years and its on going.

Driving on smooth road at about 60 mph when the ignition key fell out of the ignition switch onto the car floor. The switch was still in the run position and I was able to reinsert the key into the switch. The engine did not stop and there were no warning lights. This has happened several times since. Current mileage is 73500. I noticed I can manually pull the key from the switch at anytime. I have not tried to move the steering wheel while moving to see if it will lock when the key is out and the switch is in the run position. It does not lock when the vehicle is stationary and the switch is in the run position with the key out. I had the car into the dealer for a brake issue and in a follow up phone call brought the key issue to the service writers attention. She said to have a new key made by the dealer using the vehicle VIN. I did not do this yet. I have have three keys made by local hardware stores all with the same result.
2005 chevy Equinox LS. Can take key out of ignition while vehicle is traveling down the road. I'm afraid the key could fall out of the ignition and the steering wheel would lock up. Or, if in an accident, the key fall out while the motor is running and you won't be able to turn off the motor, which could result in fire. Had the key replaced once, about 1 year ago. It is happening again. I bought the car new, so I know there has been tampering or replacement with the ignition switch. Gm's solution is go to dealer. Dealers solution is replace key. Obviously replacing key is not a long term solution nor one that fixes the problem. It is, however, and expensive one that could be is fatal if not fixed in time. It also appears to be extraordinary. I have driven for 42 years and owned many, many cars. I have never had to replace a key because I can pull it out of the ignition. Now, it appears I'll have to do it every year.
Brake noise, thumping and grinding. Steering wheel is very tight and loosens at any time. Rotors are faulty. When starting periodically ignition switch sticks in the cranking position once manually started unless you jiggle key, causing possible fire hazard.
2005 Equinox , issue with ignition. Starts normally after two or three tries. Key sticks in ignition switch, on second key now. Have to order a third key for when the one I am using wears out. Took vehicle in to certified service station they could never find anything wrong until it was out of warranty then the say I need a new shifter which is over $500 to replace. Issues with brakes and rotors. . . No on e can seem to replace them without the vehicle making a noise when trying to stop and while driving, ever the certified gm service center. Issue started early 2005 appros 2 months after purchase.
