While accelerating the vehicle isnt shifting in the proper way it should. There is a chain rattling kind of sound from the engine as it accelerates, closer to the driver side. While braking, the brakes pads are all new, it will sometimes make a grinding sound and have little to no brake resistance if you hit a bump. All in a straight motion.
Vehicle randomly shuts off completely at different speeds while driving. It has happened once every three days up to 6 times in 20 minutes. It has occurred on the freeway and city streets. Had pcm reprogrammed, no luck. I have been testing different fixes. While doing so I noticed I am able to pull the key out at any ignition position.
I have had all kind of trouble out of this vehicle. First it was the wheel bearings. Change one an not long after have to change another. Have changed about 4. Three on one wheel an one on the other. And now have to change another that I can tell. Then it started with brakes recently. They would stick. Had brakes replaced that didn't fix the problem. Brake lights came on vehicle. Then went off haven't came on since but brakes have stuck more than one time. Very dangerous. Now to get with the air in the vehicle that I have seen several complain about. While car is sitting still the vehicle will stay warm an warm air blowing out. Where it has been cold when driving the car the temp would go down on vehicle making the air blow out cool an I about freeze to death driving. Windows fog up fast. Need a recall if so many people are have the same issue/issues. Can cause major problems if not addressed or fixed. I don't let me kids ride in the car with me anymore cause of this.
My 2006 Equinox initially began having start up issues where the starter would crank and the engine would idle roughly and then die. It would take several attempts to start. Then I figured out if I gave it gas when I started it up it would have a better chance of starting. Sometimes it worked. Then the issue went away for a while and came back with a new issue. The new issue is sometimes the car wouldn't start at all. The starter would click but would not start. It would do this several times and then it would start like nothing was wrong. This happens intermittently. It does not discriminate on location, time of day etc.
All is good until the reduce engine power and traction control light comes on then you can go about 10mph - also know as "limp mode", which around here would be "run me over" mode. This is dangerous and I have been very fortunate to not get hit when it has happened. October 11, 2008: 45,000 miles replace throttle body assembly March, 2011: 82,000 miles replace throttle body assembly August 2014: 125,142 miles replace throttle body assembly this is ridiculous. This repair at dealership is $700. 00 each time. This is a part that should never have an issue to the point the my dealer actually says I have the only car they have ever had to change out let alone change out three times.
