general problems of the 2007 Chevrolet Equinox

Everytime my vehicle is exposed to water by rain or car wash. It goes into low power mode or limp mode only accelerating to like 30mph. I was told there is water getting somewhere is shouldnt causing a short. Im not the only one with this problem . Ive read on several forums. I was just on the freeway recently and it rained for about 5 minutes here in fresno California which is extremely unusual because it is still summer and the vehicle did this while I was driving. I could've caused an accident I had to pull over and stop driving. I turned off and on the car several times and the low power mode finally went away, and also the service stabilitrak system. Chevy is aware of this problem and they need to fix before somebody gets hurt.

While driving suddenly stablitrak service light and engine light comes on. Door locks start unlocking and locking, all lights start flashing and car slows down. At the same time steering wheel becomes very tight and unable to turn. Happen while driving any speed. Have had many visits to mechanics: ecm replaced and programmed was the last attempt prior to that I had a new started put on. This is a known issue for Chevrolet's from my research. Recently bought a used 2014 chevy traverse lt and I'm started to see the same issues and I've only had it 1 week. I'm very upset these models aren't safe. To many times to count how many time it's happened maybe 30-40 in 1 year.

Vehicle heats up and causes water hoses to over heat and bust up. This can cause a serious burn injury. Apparently this is a problem causes because of the head gaskets that were used. The gaskets get damaged and start causing the lines to fill up with air causing alot of pressure to. Motor and then over heats. All the lines that bring water to the moter busted and vehicle wasnt even showing to be hot. Vehicle still works but cant be used because it overheats. I got this car from frederi k auto center in March. Ever since then I had problems. I told them I let them. Knkw about them and they always said nothing was wrong with it. The one time they were supoose to fix something they had the car for two days and rhey put tape all over the hoses ro stop the leaks. They also failed the MD inspection considering my wires are melted together and my ignition doesnt work right which wouldnt have pass. Then they repo it when I wqsnt late on my payemnt because I said I want it fixed sinxe it was sols that way or I will file a compalint. Everything qas illegal thatbthey did.

The engine light on and stabilitity trak needs service?.

I have a different type of ignition switch problem. I can't remove the key when the car is in park. This started maybe 1 year ago. I switched out keys (using my second key) and it worked fine until the last 2 months when the problem started again. It doesn't happen all the time. When it does, I have to turn on the ignition, put it in gear and drive forward a few feet and then put it in reverse and go back to where I need to park and turn off the key. Maybe it will work, but there have been times when I've had to do this exercise 10 times before I can remove the key. Just this morning, I had to do it 5 times at a gas station and the people next to me probably thought I was crazy!!!.

My 2007 chevy Equinox is giving me problems when I am going up a hill. My car hesitates almost every time when going up a hill what I mean when I go up the hill it is like my car is going to shut off. I have had it to the garage several time in the last month for the replacement of the fuel pump and then the O2 senor went bad right after I had the fuel pump replaced is when the hesitation started. They just replaces the spark plug and that didn't help it and they can find anything else wrong with it.

Engine power reduced light came on while we were driving on the highway at 55 mph. My vehicle dropped in speed to 25 mph and would not pick up speed. There is a common problem wrong with the chevy Equinox, I have a blown head gasket because of water in my dashboard. I was told to file a complaint, because so many individuals who by these particular vehicles all have the same problem especially if you purchased a Equinox between 2006 and 2009. This is a manufacturer defect and the vehicles should be recalled.

I noticed a gas smell when I got out of my car and when it is parked in my driveway. I took it to the dealership where I bought the car and they looked at it for me. They told me the gas tank was leaking a little bit from the top of the tank. I then did some research and found out that there is a recall on the fuel pump for the same reason. I live in kentucky and the recall is in the western states. Why is it only in those states it is a defect in the part itself and I feel as if it should be replaced just the same as the others. Also I am having a problem with the stabilitrack in my vehicle. A warning will appear on the dash that states service stabilitrack, stabilitrack off, and then it will state engine power reduced and the engine will reduce power. I have seen a lot of complaints online about that as well.

About a year and a half ago, my power steering went out on my Equinox. I haven't had any accident due to this but I find it weird that the recall of the gm automobiles have the same defects and problems as mines. Ive also had problems with my engine as well when the stibilitrac like came on. I took it to chevy but the didn't have the part and they said the would order it. I never heard anything else from them. Please advise me on what to do because if its a defect. I need to go get it fix. Im still having the problem.

In October 2010 while traveling in illinois, the vehicle "check engine" light came on. I was told by a dealership in illinois that nothing was found to trigger the alarm after they ran a diagnostic, and drove the car for a while. A few days later, while driving from illinois to colorado, the "service stabilitrack" light came on, but went out after driving for about 60 miles with it illuminated. Again I was told over the phone by the illinois dealership that it was probably nothing to be concerned with, and it should reset itself. In December 2010, I was unable to drive my car due to the loss of power steering. I received no alarms the previous day, and the car was working properly. The service stabilitrack light remained on at this point. I loss the ability to drive my car safely to the dealership I purchased it at in colorado. After towing my car to the dealership, I was informed by the service department that the "power steering assist motor" had gone out, and would need replacing at the cost of $1000. I was also told that there were several history codes indicating back to October, that there was a problem with the car. I have just discovered that chevy has recalled other vehicles with the same problem. This is a dangerous issue that should be addressed as soon as possible!.

Terrible odor that we cannot get rid of.

First problem happened recall on spark plug boot 1 cylinder wasn't firing, was fixed under warranty as was the gasket for the hatchback was bad. That lead to a gallon or so of water into my spare tire compartment. This has since happened again and I need another gasket. The driver side window stopped working, being a electrician I found to broken wires inside rubber boot on door hinge side. Abs light constantly comes on/off computer says abs needs service ( sensor problem). Gas gauge is reading incorrectly, I have to use the range setting on the computer. Speedometer readings incorrect sits at 60mph when the car is off. I bought this vehicle brand new and have nothing but problems, most of any vehicle I've owned. Current mileage 63,000 miles.
