Air Bag Not Deploy problems of the 2008 Chevrolet Equinox

The contact owns a 2008 Chevrolet Equinox. While driving 70 mph with his daughter, wife, and nephew, the contact stated that the steering wheel failed to turn without warning. As a result, the contact crashed into a road sign. The air bags did not deploy. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact's daughter sustained a contusion on the chest wall and his wife sustained shoulder pain. The daughter required medical attention. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 160,000.

The light indicating the passenger airbag is armed doesn't go on anymore. I had this diagnosed and the code b0081 shows up indicating a faulty passenger presence module. With the module not sensing a passenger, the air bag probably will not deploy in the event of a crash. The dealer said it's not under recall, although the 2007 Equinox was recalled for this defect.

I was involved in an automobile accident; I was hit on the driver side, when a driver attempted to turn left in front of me and and the air bag did not deploy.

Passenger side airbag does not turn on when person is sitting in the seat. I've had people up to 250 pounds sitting on passenger side and it still won't turn on airbag. This is a very high risk of injury or fatality to passenger if air bag does not deploy if in an accident. So many others are saying same thing how is this not on a recall list yet or at least being investigated.

Air bag does not stay on! driving over 20 mph air bag did not turn on and seat belt warning light remained off. First incident, steering failure. Service stabilitrack warning appeared and steering went out making it almost impossible to steer. Took to dealership who stated steering module went out and replaced at my own cost. Very dangerous to loose steering control while driving. Entire steering and interior control module was also replaced a second time. Dealer stated it was normal for this to wear out and need replaced. Service stabilitrack warning still continues to come on occasionally. Took to dealership again and they said they could not find any issue. Hopefully the steering will not go out this time while I am going down a major highway at higher speeds. Have also continuously experienced issues with water in the vehicle. Can hear the water sloshing around. Water in the headlights making it difficult to see at night. Door locks only work intermittently. Car was involved in an accident, front end collision and air bags did not deploy. Serious safety risk.

In a separate incident the contact stated that while the vehicle was stationary a second vehicle crashed into the front end of the vehicle. During the incident the seat belts malfunctioned and the air bags did not deploy. The contact suffered neck, hand and knee injuries and the front passenger suffered head, lung and rib injuries during the crash. A police report was taken at the scene. The manufacturer was not notified. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 50,000. Jft.

This caused the passenger side air bag light to illuminate and the passenger side air bag would not to deploy in the event of a crash. The contact took the vehicle to a dealer for a diagnostic test. The dealer could not identify the issue. The contact stated that the air bag light illuminated intermittently. The failure mileage was 32,000.

Was involved in a mva and driver was traveling 50-60mph when her car hit the front end driver side and air bag failed to deploy. Since then air bag sensor turns on and off when there is a passenger in the seat . Passenger weighing over 130 lbs. This is a big safety hazard and is scary to think that this car has yet to be recalled!! will the air bag go off next time something like that happens again??!! gm is wrong for recalling every other vehicle but this one!! power locks do not unlock or lock ever! I always have to manually lock and unlock each one. Safety issue again! and last but not least, there is an electrical issue causing everything in the car to go out every month or two. Recall this car before someone else gets injured.

The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated the vehicle should be taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The VIN was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 34,000. 2008 chevy Equinox passenger presence sensor system is defective. It was recalled on the 2007's but not the 2008's even though the exact same issue persists. There are thousands of complaints about this issue but gm will not recall it. This is a critical safety issue as the airbag will never deploy as the sensor and/or pressure mat is defective. The "service airbag" light is always on. This is about a $1,000 charge at a dealer that is due to an electrical defect. They admitted on the 2007's and should be forced to fix the 2008's also. Light has been on for 40,000 miles waiting for the recall.

My 2008 Equinox headlights are full of water which make the visibility at night very bad. The door locks will only open the locks part of the way and you can't get in the car, and this seems to be affected more when the sun shines on the vehicle. It acts like the locks won't work in the heat. I also have the passenger air bag light coming on anytime someone sits in the passenger seat. I have been told by the dealership that the air bag will not deploy in an accident. This is such a comforting feeling, and I really don't understand why these issues are not recalled by the auto maker. Can anyone help us? there are thousands of these vehicles on the road that are not safe. . . . . . . . .
