I purchased this vehicle back last year and I put a lots of money into the engine and having troubles with it I’m just now finding out this type of vehicle I have has been recalled and I’m trying to see is there some type of way I can get it fix without coming out of my pockets like I already had engine light still on after I got the part put on and I don’t have money like that to keep getting it fix I have low income and trying to take my kids to school sometimes I be afraid to drive cause it keeps cutting off in middle of traffic problems with the catalytic converter and 02 sensors I change everything and still having trouble and out of money can somebody please help me no incidents just a recall and bad motor.
Engine cylinders & seals are faulty and easily crack causing the car to stop /stall while in drive! I nearly hit a semi-truck because the car stoped mid drive and the car jerked so hard that the wheel jerked to the side and then locked!! as the car continued to glide in a circle because it didnt stop all the way I could not turn the wheel to avoid the semi, what saved my life was the clear road that allowed the semi to go around me!! my car literally sat in the middle of the street across the yellow line! this issue persists and corrupts the entire fuel system, catalytic conveyer, resonator, and timing chain simultaneously! this causes each owner to replace the entire engine because it simply can not be fixed. Fixing or repairing one of the components does not fix the issue or stop the engine from failing, all must be replaced! even after replacing it all the same thing happens to the new engine! this is a engine malfunction. The entire car/engine/blueprint should be destroyed and recalled!!! even the mechanics and dealers are asking why these vehicles still exist and saying that the engine for this car is junk and it’s so common for this to happen to the point that there are no used engines for under $2500!!! majority of the mechanics are even refusing to repair/replace the engine in this car because it’s a waste of time & money because the next engine new or used will do the same exact thing!! no one is going to pay $10,000+ for a new engine or even $2500+ for a used engine plus $2000+ for labor only for the same exact problem to happen after spending $5000 - $12000+.
I have had my vehicle for only a year and bought it used from a dealership here in town. I understand that the vehicle is nearly 12 years old though I have seen vehicles that were way older and not have half the problems that I am having with mine and it has been well keep and maintenance has been up to date. Early this week my car had been warming up for nearly 30 minutes and I put it in drive and it jerk harder then normal. I just thought it was because it went from hot to cold outside overnight that that was the problem. Though as I was driving down the street my check engine light came on and the vehicle was stalling in between 35-40 mph. So I got it check out and the code said that it was a transmission shift solenoid. I then took it to chevy to make sure that, that was the issues and the dealership penske Chevrolet confirmed that it was and that many of the Equinox’s, cruzes, and traverses from the year 2009 until 2019 health exact same issue and that several people did the complaint form in their dealership I did research online and it’s true many people complain about this issue but I think they don’t know where to go to file a proper complaint. I think that this problem not being recalled is absurd because it’s costing people nearly 4, five, $6000 because of this issue when if many and I do mean many people are having this issue then chevy needs to fix this.
2. 4-liter ecotec engines suffer from the defect that consumes oil at a very high rate. The primary cause of the defect is malfunctioning piston rings, which are prone to premature wear, the judge's order states. The defect necessitates the need for the car owner to replenish the car's oil more frequently. We change oil every month because of this problem but now is worse because is coming now white smoke and shaking all the engine so its now out of road my Equinox so I am waiting for this solution from gm but not answers.
Driving down the road my power engine lite comes on and acts like it is going to cut off , some times it does. My abs lite comes on at anytime, when coming to a stop my brakes slip and acts like it does not want to catch, brakes are new! also the 2010 uses about 4 to 5 qt in between oil changes and there is no leaks. Defogger does not work at all. And know having engine problems. Have changed the O2 sensor still says they need to be changed, have changed the manifold and says that still needs o be changed, engine light stays on. Stabilliy track light comes on all the time as well. This has been happening for over 6 years!.
I had my Equinox repaired under the recall for oil consumption, yet it is still burning oil. The heat and ac are not working properly, to get heat I have to turn the dial back and forth and maybe it will work most of the time I have to drive about a half a mile for it to blow heat. The ac is just not working at all. The info panel in the center of the dash will go out and come back on later. While driving, the car will just slow down like I'm not pressing the accelerator at all. The transmission seems to get stuck in a gear causing the rpms to rise and stay until I take my foot off of the accelerator. The car makes a clicking sound when turning. It shakes at 60 mph. Also I have replaced headlights 2 times in the last year.
Vehicle is burning astronomical amounts of oil, even when car is sitting. Car runs rough and idles and acts as if it will stall out. The abs and traction control lights have come on. Car acts like it won't start and takes a few times before it actually starts up. Have replaced so many parts and of course at 155,000 miles for a 2010 Equinox we don't qualify under the pending lawsuit. Car is parked because it uses so much oil.
General motors have been at no assistance to me since my purchase of my 2010 Chevrolet Equinox I purchased it February/March of 2016 and have had continuous issue with the vehicle, I contacted the place of purchase and general motors numerous times about the complaint of my vehicle. Also with the attached proof of repairs I referred to the dealers who did the repairs and general motors of any current recalls. Back in October 2019 my check engine light came on because my converter went out and my 100k warranty expired, gm was not in understanding and would not assist. Then I did my own research and found there was a oil consumption law suite and a separate special extended warranty in the catalytic converter but only until 120k. My issue is general motors will not assist me due to me being over the 120k mileage even though I inquired about it time after time since the time I purchased the vehicle. I have kept up to date in my address even when I moved out of state. I'm just looking for assistance in why my vehicle is not covered under the law suite or covered with the special warranty with my catalytic converter. I never received any mail notification and all my repairs were done at a licensed certified general motor dealer and they are aware of this issue/recalls and I was not told of the issues. I would just like to get my vehicle fixed since I spent so much money on it as it is. I had to do my own research online to find this information which could of been avoided if I was contacted front the beginning. I was never notified of a recall but once back in 2016 for a windshield wiper recall.
Exhaust leak between the manifold and catalytic converter with only 57,000 miles. Dangerous odor and potential carbon monoxide exposure. There was no incident that could have caused this problem. Mechanic states that problem has been common among gm suvs this past year.
Our 2010 chevy Equinox was working fine. Last week we came to a stop at a stop sign. . . Heard a bang noise and it started to idle rough, and shut off at stop sign ( hard to even know. . . Since radio still playing). Also sounds like a thrashing machine. . . . Check engine light came on and has since gone off and back on and back off. What is the best correction for this safety issue. Continues to shut off at stop signs. ????.
Brought my SUV in delership for recalls from 12/5/2016. It's been in for mutiplable recalls plus oil consumption recall now received my car back had it for 2 days now service department telling me my transmission wave plate needs to be replaced. Service department had returned my car saying everything was fine to drive let me leave in it knowing they knew this would happen. Very upset plus am out around $800 dollars thought these recalls were covered nope had to come out of my pocket. Now they want $4374. 69!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
Constant transmission issues, rebuilt motor and still having issues doesn't change gears or will make constant putt putt noises like its going to quit, goes through quarts of oil constantly, no leaks found but adding large amounts weekly, heating/ac system doesn't turn on all the time I have to turn it off and on and it eventually works. Stabilitrak keeps turning on with check engine light the cars power then gets turned down all the way or off, I have to turn the car off and turn it back on to get back to normal. Very dangerous car stopping with traffic all around. Nothing but headaches.
Started my car on a normal day and it sounded like a motor boat, and when I turned on the heat the entire car smelled like gas!!!!!.
The contact owns a 2010 Chevrolet Equinox. While the vehicle was being serviced at the dealer, the mechanic noticed that fuel was cross-contaminated with engine oil. The mixture caused the engine to run continuously and roughly. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was 33,000.
Why don't you let a person tell the complete story? my entry about chevy Equinox could cause fatalities and you cut me off after I spend time to type it all out. I am saving it to a word file if anyone there is interested, contact me at sisson@consolidated. Net.
While turning left on a major intersection the check engine light and stabilitac light with a warning of reduced engine power came on. The car could only go 5 mph which was caused me to slowly go through the intersection. Two on coming cars had to slam on their breaks to avoid me. The dealer found a defective throttle body. They said the car is program to go into reduced engine power mode when the computer detects this issue. The safety issue is this come on with out warning, in the middle of intersections. Search the web and you will find that many with this type of car from gm are having this issue. I think there should be a recall for the defective throttle body for those not replaced yet and a reimbursement for those already paid. I had to pay $400. 64 for this safety repair so I could a avoid future accidents when turning at intersections. The repair details are on file at the dealer.
Excessive engine noise,pinging,misfires-transmission shift hesitations upon acceleration-backfires/tiny explosions coming from exhaust-suspension noise. Erroneous mpgs-defective air conditioning/intermittent/stale smelling air/not cold.
When accelerating to pull onto highway, engine stalls with no response from accelerator pedal and sometimes engine completely shuts off and you have to restart the vehicle. This is an intermittent problem that happens often. My vehicle has been to the dealer several times for this issue but the dealership has yet to find the problem. I have also contacted Chevrolet customer support about this problem and told them of my concerns of having an accident because of this issue. I have researched this problem on the internet and found owners of 2010-12 Chevrolet Equinoxs all over the united states are having the same problem.
