general problems of the 2010 Chevrolet Equinox

I took the chevy Equinox to the chevy dealership to have the oil changed. The house technician said it was unsafe to put it on a lift. The entire frame was corroded. On 02/28/2023, I had the dealership do a multi-point vehicle inspection. This is their findings: #1-1010: inspections inspect/check inspect due to customer request inspected unit due to customers request found excessive rear under body rust and left rear upper control arm is held on by two bolts, but structure is unstable due to corrosion. The rear drive shaft has been removed for unknown reasons. This assessment is visual and at this time. Unit looks unsafe and unstable to drive due to rear under vehicle rust. L would recommend to park the unit and get alternative transportation and replacing the vehicle due to rust. Customer has been advised of our findings. I called gm and reported the problem. They couldn't do a buyback on the Equinox. I filed a complaint with bbb auto-line, they closed the case said the vehicle was to old. Gm said the Equinox came from up north, and since I live in arkansas the climate change made the vehicles frame rust rapidly due to the moisture. The emergency brake cable, and control arm is rusted into. The vehicle went from excellent condition to unsafe to drive in one day. Their was no visibility of rust in december2022.

It uses oil like crazy. We have changed everything,besides getting a new motor. I was driving home from work tonight and the abs and traction control light came on out of no where. My brakes where trying to lock up. When you crank it now it makes a funny noice.

Brakes apply by themselves, bringing car to a stop. Can happen at any time, including when trying to cross a busy highway, etc.

I have to replace throttle body because my car would just stall while driving in the middle of the road as well as replacing my muffler. Currently I have a new set of brakes that squeal like no tomorrow and my check engine light just came on giving me codes to replace 2 camshaft positioning solenoid actuator and finally the car it turning into a complete rust bucket. .

Driving down the road going 55mph and all of a sudden I loose speed control to almost 20 mph. I try to press the gas to accelerate and it feels like the brakes are being pressed down. Have to press gas pedal almost to the floor to get it off the road safely. Immediately turned on emergency flashers to alert vehicles behind me. Stabilitrk light and tc light comes on. I have read plenty of forums having this same problem with the 2010 cheverelet Equinox and nobody seems to know the solution to this problem. Have had several mechanics and break specialist look at the problem and they are confused to why this is happening. I have a small child in the back seat. Thank god we weren't on a 70 mph highway and that happened. There could have been fatalities. I dont have any mechanic receipts because they dont know what to start to fix the problem with. They said it could be numerous ideas( brakes, throttle, electrical, etc). This should be investigated immediately!!.

Once vehicle reaches 25 mph the stability control turns off and simultaneously the abs turns off and awd turns off ass well.

I had exited i75 and was driving on a 35mph county road when the incident occurred. I was driving at a slow speed in anticipation of stopping at a red light at a major intersection. Stepped on the brakes on my 2010 chevy Equinox and the pedal went all the way down, but car was still rolling. No warning sign from the computer in the car. I'm sure there are others out there with the same complaint. Major driver/road safety issue!!.

I have to replace one of the tire hubs on my car because the stabilizability track is messed up. Costing me over $650. The lights came on one day to get it serviced. That is the only reason I knew something was wrong.

On August 21,2015 I was coming home while driving on the road I entered a curve and my steering wheel did not turn with the curve my car continued going straight I had no control of the steering wheel and I tried to brake and the brakes did not stop the car so I went into the ditch wrecking my car it was totaled and I was hurt the car was totaled the Chevrolet dealer told me to bring the car in and they would fix the problem at no charge they had a special warranty fund to cover the cost of repair of the steering problem there had been others with the same problem--needless to say my totally wrecked car could not be brought to the dealer --I was told to call roadside service to tow it in and fix the problem--a recall should be issued on the power steering and the brake system--I could of been killed and at the age of 71 years very thankful that god was with me and saved my life thank you --god bless!!! patricia tucker.

The contact owns a 2010 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that the vehicle experienced a loss of power, the vehicle would not shift into gear while being operated, and the abs warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the transmission, abs sensor, and motor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however the check engine warning indicator illuminated. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was contacted however no further assistance was offered. The failure mileage was approximately 115,656.

Traction control malfunction and made the car go into low power mode, had to pull over on the highway, restart it many time to go again.

Coming off of exit 50 on sunrise hwy in long island n. Y. A cross street light turned red and the traffic was stopping so I applied the brakes on my car, the brake peddle went to the floor while trying to stop. I had the car towed to the dealership for repair. The car has 51823 miles on it.

Just bought and being told it is not covered by any warranty having issues with the defoggers and all the windows are fogging a lot . Tried to crack the windows to vent the out the car no help.
