I bought a 2010 Chevrolet Equinox in July of 2010. It had 5,500 miles on it when I started seeing patches of thousands of tiny cracks on the windshield. You could only see them when the car was facing the sun. I washed the car all summer myself, and I was very careful. I took it to the dealer, and he pointed out that it covered the windshield and all the side and back windows. It looks like someone sanded all the windows with a fine sandpaper. He said that he has seen this many times before, but gm will not do anything about it, because they say it is not a defect. They said the cause is frequent washes at touchless car washes, or some mileage. Gm knows they have a problem, because they put out a service bulletin on it. It is #00-08-48-005d. It covers 2011 and prior gm passenger cars and trucks. It says in the bulletin that the repair will require replacing all the glass on the car. When you drive into the sun, the thousands of tiny cracks blind you and sunglasses don't help. They said as a gesture of good will, they will replace the windshield, but none of the other glass. I am stuck with a car with 6500 miles on it with defective window glass that gm says is too bad, but it is not covered under the 3 year or 36,000 mile warranty.
