Car started fine, pulled it out of the garage, shut it off, went out to start it up two hours later, it started after cranking a bit but stalled, started for a quick second again but stalled again right away, just kept cranking as I tried it, the check engine light on, I put a code reader on and code told me it was the code for fuel pump module, my vehicle is a 2022 Equinox and only has a little over 9300 miles on it. Definitely not something that should’ve happened with that low of miles but yet somehow my VIN was not included in a 2023 recall, I was told it wasn’t anyways!.
While driving on the freeway at approximately 75 mph my 2022 Chevrolet Equinox lost power, the engine stalled, and I was forced to pull over into a construction zone. The engine would not restart and the check engine indicator was on. Onstar messaged me via email that a fault p129f was detected. I had the vehicle towed to my home where I performed some additional diagnostics and determined that while similar to product safety recall n222372310 inadequate fuel pump flow, the issue was not with the fuel pump but with the fuel pump controller module mounted under the vehicle. I replace the module with an official gm replacement module part number 13554821 which resolved the issue with the fuel system in my vehicle. I still have the faulty fuel pump controller module in my possession (see attached picture).
The fuel pump module was a recall under n222372310 - safety recall in 2023. This recall was complete by a dealership. The recall fuel pump module assembly it was replace July 2023 with part number fuel pump module 84782007. On April 13, 2026 (33 months later) the car would not start, if it did start it was stall and die. When it also run rough if it would start, then die again. I had to have the car towed to the dealership. The dealership said the fuel pump module was out again! the exact same problem the first recall was suppose to correct did not solve the problem. At this time there is not a new recall on this matter. The part that replaced the original fuel pump module did not solve the problem. The replacement part appears faulty as well. Had my car ben in traffic or on the highway it is possible I would have lost all power to the car which could have resulted in crash.
The vehicle's fuel pump failed. Like many 2022 chevy Equinoxes, ours has a fuel pump that failed while on a road trip 10 hours from home. However, ours was also not part of the recall batch for failing fuel pumps. There were no warning lights or lamps or other signs, and at 27,000 miles, we would never expect for our fuel pump to fail. It seems quite clear that this is part of the overall failure of 2022 chevy Equinox fuel pumps, and this batch should be included in the recall.
Engine stalled possibly due to a faulty fuel pump. I was able to drive the vehicle without issue until I pulled up to my house, when the engine stalled. No warning signs prior to the incident. Proceeded to put the vehicle in park and start the engine again. The engine had trouble starting again, sputtering even when the gas pedal was pressed (no response to the gas pedal). No sound comes from the fuel pump when trying to start. Battery in good condition. Lucky vehicle did not stall while driving down the road at 60 mph. Vehicle will have to be towed to a mechanic.
Vehicle unexpectedly stalled 10/5/2024 while driving at 45 mph on a highway. It would not restart. We were able to get to the side of the road and call for a tow truck. It was towed to the dealer where we purchased. It sat in the parking lot for a few days and they were able to restart it. The dealer could not find anything wrong. On 12/19/2025 the vehicle again unexpectedly stalled doing 50 mph on a three lane highway. It would not start. With a lot of beeping and cutting off upset drivers we were able to get the car off the road. We again had it towed to the dealer where we bought it new. They found there was a faulty fuel pump driver module. They replaced the module and we picked up and paid $386. 62. It seems to be running fine now, but found this issue is a recall for many Equinoxes with the same car years but my VIN is not listed in the recall. I also see the replacement modules are being recalled. This is a dangerous situation for myself, my family, passengers and others on the road. This vehicle dies with no warning. No lights go on. It just plain stops running. No one should have to pay for this repair no matter the VIN. Note this Equinox has less than 60,000 miles on it.
Faulty fuel pump caused my vehicle to shut down while driving.
Car would not turn over only grinning noise. Stranded in parking lot. Had to have car towed to dealer. They replaced the fuel pump. The car would not start again 2 days later. I was stranded again. I kept trying and it finally started. It stopped intraffic just died on the way home. Before help came I got it started and made it home. I had it towed to the dealer again. This time they said it is the fuel pump modular. The fuel pump cost me $1300. 00 and norw the charge will be $400. 00. Some 2022 Equinox were recalled but mine was not included. It should have been reca. Led. My Equinox onlyhas 13,000 miles this was a very dangerous situation. Diane tesson.
My vehicle has trouble starting and once it starts it dies within a minute or less. Check engine light is on. Code was showing the fuel pump module. Had it towed to the dealership to confirm exactly what the issue is.
Driving down the interstate my 2022 Chevrolet Equinox lt lost all propulsion and shut off. I was able to get pulled over to the side of the road had to have my vehicle towed. Vehicle was repaired after a week at the dealership the problem was the fuel pump module again. This is the 2nd time the fuel pump modulehas went out in 2 years.
I was driving on the highway at a fast speed 75+ miles per hour. I was in the left lane. My car turned off and there was no acceleration. It was not getting fuel. I was able to make it to the right lane and merge off the highway before it stopped moving by momentum alone. Cars had to slow down and go around me almost causing an accident. It is not okay to let people drive around in an unsafe manner when, now I found that this is a common problem. Having an accident on I-95 is no joke. It could have cost me my life.
We were in our pharmacy drive thru pick up lane when our car suddenly died, and would not restart. No engine light came on prior. We waited three hours for our tow truck in 99 degree weather to take it to the nearest dealership. Had the fuel pump power control module and also the fuel tank fuel pump module replaced. Now back at dealership, as the fuel gauge is being repaired. Our car evidently didn't show up as needing the fuel pump module recalled. $2000 later, I wonder why not?.
The fuel pump is not consistently providing fuel to the engine and causing the engine to stall while driving. The fuel pump is not properly functioning.
While driving on the highway, the vehicle lost power with no warning. Was able to get it to the side of the road and had it towed to dealership. The found the fuel pump module was at fault. Had it replaced and 2 weeks later the check engine light came on and same diagnostic code came up for the fuel pump module. (had just been replaced). Took to dealership again and they replaced the module again stating it could be a faulty part. Now again 3 weeks later the check engine light is on again. Same diagnostic code came up again stating it is the fuel pump module. Car is currently at the dealership for the third time in 6 weeks for the same issue. Thankfully there has been no personal injury involved but the car stopping while driving on a highway is very dangerous and scary. This is definitely a crash risk for the driver /passengers and others on the roadway.
On August 16, 2025, my 2022 chevy Equinox experience an engine stall while I was driving with no warning, no prior check engine light. This was very scary for my own safety but more importantly my child’s safety who was in the back seat. Had I not been able to move my car to the side of the road or had we been on one of atlanta’s major interstates this could have been a fatal accident for the both of us. I immediately took my car to the dealership where I purchased this car brand new off the truck and have had it serviced ever since. Not only did I take it, I took it there with a recall notice (n222372310) for 21-22 chevy Equinox experience engine stalls due to a faulty fuel pump module. The dealership informed me that this recall “did not apply” to my VIN. And I had to place it under my warranty and pay my $200 deductible for them to diagnose that in fact my fuel pump module was bad and needed to be replaced, nothing else.
On two separate instances the vehicle stalled and shut off. Once on a highway at 65mph. Second failure was on a private road at 15mph. Both instances were in a 1 week period.
We where driving to do some errands I noticed the engine light came on. Then the engine cut off. Took it to a garrage near by they did a scan said it is my fuel pump. I was told to check to see if there was a recall on this. I checked there is a recall on this problem. I called the number it said to call. Gave them my VIN. Number said my VIN number was not on the list. 2022 chevy Equinox lt. Why isn't it on the list it has the problem described on recall. Michael bethea dillon SC.
On July 23, 2025 my Equinox quit running as I was pulling out into an intersection. After several attempts to restart with no success I called my roadside assistance provider and had the Equinox towed to a repair facility. After diagnostics on July 24, 2025 it was determined that the fuel pump control module had failed. The module was replaced and reprogrammed. After the repair was completed it was brought to my attention that there was a recall issued on "some" 2022 Equinox 's but not all 2022 Equinox 's. My VIN was not included in the recall but suffered the same failure as the recalled units. No warning lights or symptoms prior to the failure. This continues to be a safety issue because without warning the vehicles just stop running. The Equinox had 45,939 miles on the odometer at the time of the failure. This in a know safety issue and gm should have included all 2022 Equinox 's or at least a broader range of vins in the initial recall.
While driving my 2022 Chevrolet Equinox, the car suddenly stalled on a city road. This occurred in a busy area with multiple stops and traffic signals. I was accelerating after a stop when the engine cut off abruptly, without any prior warning lights or error messages. I was able to coast to a safe stop, but the incident was frightening and dangerous. The vehicle was towed to a dealership and inspected. They diagnosed the issue as a failure of the fuel pump control module (fpcm). The part was not covered under my powertrain warranty despite being essential to the operation of the vehicle. The dealer confirmed this failure and replaced the part. The total repair cost was $592. When I attempted to check my eligibility for the NHTSA campaign number 23v013000 (regarding a fuel pump defect that may cause stalling for same 2022 Chevrolet Equinox), my VIN was reported as not currently eligible, even though the issue I experienced matches the recall description. The vehicle has since been repaired and has been operating fine, while I didn’t experience any stalling, I’ve noticed the gear shifts more closely now — they feel very quick or more noticeable than before, but no warning lights have appeared. I am filing this complaint to formally document the safety issue I experienced and to request a review of my VIN in light of the recall. A sudden stall on a city road puts drivers and passengers at significant risk, and I believe this is a serious safety concern that should be investigated.
Fuel pump went out.
At a stop sign while waiting for passing traffic, the car shuddered and the engined died. Attempts to restart the car failed. The car had roughly 1/4 tank of gas. Towed to a mechanic who put 2 gallons of gas in it and started the engine. Two days leading up to this, with the instrument panel on the screen that shows estimated distance remaining and fuel economy, I observed the fuel economy number changing wildly as I drove, going up to 99 mpg every time I let off the gas and coasted to a stop. Seems to be an electronic component for fuel has failed. When the car had died, the engine light came on. It was off after adding more fuel and restarting the car. Nhtsa website says there are 0 outstanding recall repairs for this VIN. So if the faulty fuel pump was replaced under NHTSA campaign 23v013000, it has failed again. Nhtsa website does not show any date/location of said prior recall repairs, so I have doubts whether it was ever actually repaired.
Vehicle engine ceased operation suddenly at highway speed on busy interstate highway making it very difficult for operator to safely get vehicle to shoulder of interstate and creating a dangerous situation for vehicle occupants and everyone involved in transporting occupants and removing the vehicle from interstate shoulder dealer service repairing vehicle indicated problem was fuel control module failure and occurs often in many late model Chevrolet vehicles.
Keep having fuel pump issues.
Stalling when braking and then accelerating. Car sputtered while on highway and then it stopped running . The car indicated to try to put it in neutral and start again. This did not work after several tries. The car will not successfully start up.
Driving on the highway at 65 mph when engine stalked and died. Engine light came on trying to get the vehicle to the right shoulder lane with a hard time braking with engine off and steering problem also. Engine dx code p129f from o'reilly auto parts store. They told me of the complaints with the fuel pump driver control module a alot lower mileage vehicles. Bought the fuel pump module at fiesta Chevrolet and it's running great for now.
My parents are elderly [xxx] ). While driving on [xxx] the engine just stalled without any warning. No warning lights or anything. After many trys, was able to restart the vehicle and it sputtered to edge of the road (emergency lane) and shut off again. After that, vehicle would not start again. Towed vehicle 27 miles to uvalde TX. Dealership confirmed fuel module. Warranty was expired by 2 days. Cost quoted at $650. Currently working to get extended warranty to cover the repairs. Called 911 and medina county / uvalde sheriff dept responded to get them to safety. Stalled approx . 2 miles west of [xxx] west of d'hanis, TX. Between d'hanis and sabinal. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
While driving at interstate speed the car slowed and presented a 'engine decelerating' light on instrument cluster. We were barely able to get off the interstate without getting hit. Car coasted to a stop and died. Half tank of gas and no recent work other than oil change 6000miles prior. Had it towed to dealership where they found the fuel pump module had died. Same as recall 23v013000. However, our VIN is not included in that recall. Dealer repaired at no charge.
Employee was driving on a state road in the right hand lane going about 45 mph. Short of a red light and a right hand turn lane, the engine began to rumble and promptly shut off. Employee attempted to restart the vehicle, but to no avail. Traffic began piling up and the employee could not remove the vehicle from the road. This was an incredibly dangerous and life threatening situation. Vehicle ended up having to get towed to the dealership per the repair order detail attached, the technicians found that it was a fuel pump issue; found in 3 other of our 2022 Chevrolet Equinox vehicles (4 total). This is a major concern.
I recently paid 2100 for my engine to be repaired because it was burning too much gas now. It never had a check engine light on now it won’t go off. My car smells like gas and stalls a lot.
Car shut off going through busy intersection.
Vehicle stalled and stop running while accelerating at a busy intersection and created a hazardous situation in traffic. Had to push the car off the road. Car would not start again so called for a tow. The Equinox was taken to a nearby Chevrolet dealership. I ran a tester on it and the error code was p129f, fuel pump driver control module, fuel pump speed signal incorrect. In doing a search, I discovered there was a recall for 2022 Equinox for this issue however I never received a notice for my 2022 Equinox. This put me in danger as well as two of my children who were riding with me. I'm extremely dissappointed and alarmed that chevy did not send a letter with the recall. The dealership apparently repaired it under warranty and not under a recall which is disturbing to me since they may be "under-reporting" this problem.
Vehicle stalled and stopped running while turning at a busy road and created a hazardous situation in traffic. I had to have a mandatory tow off the road to my residence. I called the dealership, and car would not start again so called for a tow (which was covered by gm). The Equinox was taken to a nearby Chevrolet dealership. The second tow and repair were covered by gm under warranty as I had less than 7000 miles on my SUV. Per the documentation provided by the Chevrolet dealership, the fuel pump driver control module had to be replaced in my 2022 Chevrolet Equinox. On doing a search on NHTSA, I discovered there was a recall for 2022 Equinox for this issue however it did not apply to my particular VIN. Overall, this incident, in my opinion put me in danger as well as the public who were commuting home and had to avoid my stalled car.
The fuel pump module failed as I was driving 65 mph on the interstate. Thankfully, I was able to pull over without an incident. My safety was at risk stopping suddenly at this rate of speed and I was thankful I was in the right hand lane and able to pull off the road. After waiting an hour, my car was towed to the dealer and the fuel pump module has been replaced. There were no warning lamps or other symptoms prior to this failure. My car was covered under the warranty and I have contacted gm and filed a complaint regarding this situation as my car only has 9,000 miles on it.
Employee started vehicle, backed out of the parking space, drove 4 - 6 feet and the engine died. Employee was able to coast back into another parking space safely. Attempted to restart the vehicle, engine would not start. Support services within the organization was informed and was able to get the vehicle to the dealership for inspection. Per the repair order detail attached, the technicians found that it was a fuel pump issue; found in 3 other of our 2022 Chevrolet Equinox vehicles (4 total). This is a major concern. Luckily the vehicle malfunctioned while still in the parking lot. Could have been a major life threatening situation if the employee was on the road.
While driving along the road the engine suddenly, without warning shut down. My wife and I were left stranded in the travel lane of the road. The fuel tank had about 3/4 of a tank of gas in it. The engine would not start. When the engine quit, we did not have any control of the steering and we just coast to a stop. We were moving at about 25 to 30 miles an hour on a twisting, hilly road when the engine quit. We were left stranded in a very dangerous curve on a hill. Visibility for oncoming traffic is hampered by the curves and the hill, a dangerous stretch of road. The vehicle was taken to central Chevrolet via flatbed. The fuel pump module was replaced, and I got my car back the next day. My wife was a nervous wreck. Our Equinox was just over two years old with only 7634 miles on it. To have the engine quit is one thing but to not have control of the steering afterwards or even get into neutral to get it off the road is dangerous to say the least. Central Chevrolet did an excellent job repairing the vehicle and getting it back to me quickly. My concern is will this happen again and if it did happen on the highway, it could be disastrous and possibly deadly.
