The back window shattered in my driveway after getting in car to go to work. Happened when shut the door.
I can be driving at speeds up to 40 -60mph. The car will just shut down on high way, putting not only myself but children at risk of a crash. The car will start reduced power engine, and the engine will start to stall and completely shut down. I have taken it to nick chevy in tarentum PA multiple times regarding this issue. They state software issue. But every so many months it does it again. Putting my life and children life in danger for just stopping on major highways.
Within the past two months, I have experienced multiple significant mechanical failures that raise serious concerns about the reliability and safety of this vehicle. First, the air conditioning compressor failed at approximately 55,000 miles. This was an unexpected and costly repair for a vehicle that is only two years old and has been properly maintained. Shortly thereafter, the fuel pump failed. I became aware there was a recall related to the fuel system; however, when the dealership ran my VIN, it did not populate under the recall campaign. Despite this, the component still failed. Now, I am experiencing continued stalling and drivability issues, particularly when coming to a stop or when the automatic start/stop system engages at traffic lights. Based on the symptoms, I believe the secondary fuel pump may also be malfunctioning. A vehicle stalling in traffic creates a clear safety hazard. I rely on this vehicle daily, and repeated fuel system failures at this mileage are unacceptable. I am requesting the following: a full diagnostic review of the fuel system under manufacturer oversight consideration for coverage or reimbursement of recent repairs investigation into whether my vehicle should have been included in the applicable recall assurance that this vehicle is safe to operate I have maintained this vehicle appropriately and did not expect major component failures at 55,000 miles. I am extremely concerned about both reliability and safety moving forward. Please advise on next steps and how Chevrolet intends to address this matter.
Unable to respond to text messages verbally whenever you get a text. Initially the driver could accept and reply thru the radio if so desired but now this function does not work as before. Both the dealer and Chevrolet have not resolved the issue. Three case numbers have been assigned (9-14405693026, 9-14415635001, & 9-1445732776) without resolving the issue. The vehicle is well within warranty mileage. There is no safe way to safely respond to a text.
My trunk unlocked every time I put my vehicle in park. This has happened a few months ago as well.
I have confirmed with a reputable repair shop that my alternator is defective and is dangerous to drive. No dealership in my area will entertain that this is a possibility. I have consistently had problems with braking, accelerating and steering. My vehicle throws codes constantly for suspension, communications, safety restraints, air bags, rear differential, abs and more. This vehicle is a significant danger to myself and others. This has been happening since the day I purchased it. There is also an active safety bulletin regarding my fuel pump that the manufacturer will not address. Again, this vehicle will hurt someone.
When auto stop is engaged and letting off the brake the vehicle jumps forward when the engine starts again. In previous vehicles with this feature the vehicle never "jumped" forward.
While dinghy towing the vehicle behind a motor home the tires lock up, skid and screech when going through tight turns such as cloverleaf on or off-ramps. After turns are made the vehicle handling returns to normal. Posted/suggested speeds or less are followed for the turns. The issue has occurred on numerous occasions and could be easily reproduced under actual towing conditions. The written owners manual that came with the vehicle when purchased new states clearly the that dinghy towing is allowed. We purchased specifically with that in mind and talked to the dealer at length about our intention of dinghy towing it. A case has been opened with gm and the vehicle has been assessed by 2 different Chevrolet dealers. No obvious defects have been found by the dealers. The issue is unresolved and offers to reproduce the problem under actual towing conditions has not been accepted by the dealers or gm. This should be viewed a significant safety issue with possible damage risks to the tow and towed vehicles, towing equipment as well as safety of those driving/riding in the RV and also for other drivers around us.
When flat towing behind a motorhome, per manual instructions, going on or off a highway ramp. . . . Cloverleaf, the tires will squeal like they are dragging. This does not occur every time, however 75% of the time it does. A very loud screeching, dragging or braking, pulling the motorhome down from 35mph or 40mph to 10mph. This is also noticed occasionally on turns from one street to another, however short lived by comparison. The dragging/slowing is unnerving and dangerous to suddenly slow down with no brake action by the motorhome. This has occurred on several trips this summer (2023). ****several times this summer, most recent of 10/12/23. This car was purchased primarily because it states in the manual, it could be flat towed behind a motorhome. We are concerned that this may be damaging the vehicle and putting us and others at risk.
While towing my Equinox behind my motorhome, with properly installed equipment, I experience tire screeching when taking off ramps from the highway. From extensive research, I've found that many 2023 Equinox owners are having the same issue and many have started gm case numbers. This issue is happening with many different tow systems installed and the only constant denominator is the 2023 Equinox. I've read that gm is fully aware of the issue and is working on a fix. I just wanted to get my involvement documented to potentially show the scope of this problem.
We bought the car in July 2023. We had it for a month then it started to smell like mildew and mold. It permeated into our clothes. We took it to the dealership and they had the car for about two months. When we got it back it smelled like strong soap, but after a week or two it started to smell again. We took it back again. This time they used an ionizer. That lasted two days and it smells again.
2023 Equinox tires lock up on cloverleaf on/off ramps when being flat towed behind a motorhome. The safety concern has occurred several times on cloverleaf on/off ramps. Proper procedures for flat towing per gm user manual do not resolve the problem. The blue ox towing package was installed by professionals. Dealership has been in contact with general motors technician and no solution has been found. Safety of passengers in motorhome as well as other vehicles on the roadways are put at risk for accident due to skidding and visible tire smoke of Equinox. The skidding and visible smoke tire are concerns as excessive forces to the hitch, tow bar and baseplate as well as the Equinox front suspension and electronic system could compromise safety. It's likely a cumulative effect of repeated tire lock ups could accelerate and compromise safety even further. Internet research has yielded similar safety concerns for this same problem with no solution from gm. On September 7, a phone call complaint was filed with gm; we are awaiting a case number. Letters including a detailed chronology were mailed to the Chevrolet dealership and gm on September 9. Please contact me if you wish to see this information.
Went to the grocery store, bought $300 worth of stuff, loaded it all in the back. Driving home, one of the bags full of bottles of wine fell over. Upon arriving home, tried to slowly and partially open the lift gate to prevent items from falling out. Hit button to open lift gate. With left hand, tried to slow down the opening while with right hand, reached in to catch loose bottles. Apparently my providing resistance to slow the opening was interpreted as some kind of "problem" causing the opening to reverse and causing the lift gate to close on my right arm. I now have a large abrasion and bruise on my right arm where the lift gate tried to eat my arm. If the lift gate had a manual opening, I could have opened it at my desired speed but there is only an automatic opening with its default speed. When this is combined with the automatic reversal, you have a people eater. I tried to report this to Chevrolet but could not find anything in their many websites where a safety issue can be reported.

The van shuts off automatically after 15 minutes idling, I went in a store and left a senior in the back seat that the door was in child safety mode and the when the auto shut off, he almost suffocated from the heat. And wasn't able to open door. I felt he is safe since I left the engine on. Why is not installed a sensor that detects body heat in the auto and keeps the car running. Years ago, a baby was allowed in infant seat in the front and much less babies were forgotten in the vehicle the same question again why is not installed a sensor that detects body heat in the auto and keeps the car running.
Air recirculation button has never worked since I bought my vehicle brand new in 3/2023. It continuously brings outside air in.
