Parking Brake problem #1

The contact owns a 2020 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that the vehicle was designed with two electric parking brakes. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the electric parking brake engaged independently. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the rear brake calipers were defective and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated while driving 45 mph on a slippery road, the electric parking brake engaged inadvertently, causing the rear wheels to lock, and the vehicle spun. The contact stated that he was able to regain control of the vehicle and drove to the residence at slow speeds. The contact stated that the failure had been recurring increasingly while driving. The contact stated that while investigating the failure online, he learned that it was a common failure that occurred because the electric parking brake was not fully retracted. The dealer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000.

The contact owns a 2018 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated while driving approximately 45 mph, the brake pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to stop as needed. The contact was able to steer the vehicle safely to the side of the road. The parking brake warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was driven to the residence. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 66,000.

Tl the contact owns a 2018 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated while starting the vehicle, the parking brake seized in the activated position. The contact stated that the parking brake warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was not drivable. The vehicle was towed to berger Chevrolet (2525 28th st se, grand rapids, mi 49512; (616) 949-5200), where the vehicle was diagnosed and the contact was informed that the parking brake cable needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to joe holland Chevrolet (210 maccorkle Ave sw, south charleston, wv 25303; (304) 744-1561) to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the rear brake assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 28,000.

Parking Brake problem #4

The contact owns a 2012 Chevrolet Equinox. While the vehicle was parked with the door open, the vehicle began to roll backwards. The vehicle knocked the contact down, dragged her down the driveway, and rolled over her right leg. The contact sustained injuries that required medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but the failure was unable to be determined. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 60,500.
