Having a problem with my 2015 Equinox. . 2 days ago my interior light for my stereo and ac went out. . Me thinking it will come on after turning the car off nope didn't work im frustrated because its cold and I can't use my heat or cold air me led screen is on so I can see the time and temp but I cant adjust the volume for the stereo or the fan in the car just the steering wheels volume works and controls are fine still able to receive calls. . Whats wrong? ive had the car less then 2 months and already giving me my 1st project no bueno!!.

Using navigation with phone through infotainment display can switch to blinding brightness at night. Using phone navigation (both google maps and waze) at night will start with normal brightness which can be controlled by the dimming knob. If a phone call or text is received the display goes to full brightness and cannot be dimmed this caused me to swerve off of the road it was so blinding the condition can also be simulated by engaging the backup camera at night this was reported to my dealer over a year ago in the case of the phone call the vehicle was moving this problem has been mentioned on multiple forums so I believe this is related to the software and not an isolated incident.

Vehicle stopped unexpectedly no system warning and then check engine light came on. The mechanic says the steel shavings were going into head gasket from over oil comsuption.

The 7 inch infotainment screen does not respond to the light dimmer dial, remaining at full, blinding daytime brightness even at night. The screen can be turned off by scrolling through menus, a hazard while driving, however it has to be done because any adjustment to the heater controls, radio, phone, on star or back up camera turns the display back on. General motors knows about this problem but all they have done is put a �service note� in the system stating that the infotainment display in certain 2018 Equinox models may not respond to or respond very little to the interior light dimmer or the automated night sensor. This is totally unacceptable to know the displays aren't functioning as detailed in the owners manual and do nothing. The vehicle is dangerous to drive at night with a 7 inch led screen glaring at full brightness in your face! I spoke to a second dealer and they said gm will not issue a software update or TSB to fix the issue until �significantly more customers complain enough times to have dealer service calls to gm initiated. �.

2018 Equinox lcd screen gets stuck in bright mode. Upon initiation of the backup camera the lcd stays bright for as long as the vehicle is running. Nighttime driving is extremely uncomfortable. If the radio is reset (hold down home and fast forward, or turning off vehicle for the period of time it takes to completely shut down radio) it will stay in the proper dim setting until the backup camera is initiated again. I have tested this on several 2018 Equinox cars and found this to be a malfunction. Must view problem at night to see hazard. I had a service call to mark porter Chevrolet, pomeroy, OH, and they acknowledged the problem and instructed me to wait for a fix from Chevrolet itself.

Car completely shut down while driving on high way no signs of warning lights on dashboard my wife was stranded with my 1 year old daughter towed to a chevy dealership car only had 84000 miles on it was told my engine was totally destroyed from timing chain supposedly and needed to be replaced 6000 dollars later total replacement 😡 thank god my family was not hurt in this event called gm corp to complain and there is nothing they can do there should have been a recall not happy from what I read this has happened to a lot of customers I just hope no one gets hurt!!!!!!!!! also they said no recall and it's not under warranty.

Vehicle infotainment system screen is extremely bright. Especially in cell phone screen projection mode. Night time driving is hindered. Dimming is available from the interior lighting dimming switch. This sims dash lighting also which makes it hard to see the dash. Infotainment system is still too bright when dimmed at the lowest setting.

Once vehicle reaches 25 mph the stability control turns off and simultaneously the abs turns off and awd turns off ass well.

This vehicle frequently loses charge on battery battery and alternator are new. Vehicle has less than 70k miles also throws up computer codes radio turns on and off when it wants to. I purchased it used with 40k miles and has been a problem since. I have quotes for over 2k in repairs and was told at time of purchase all recalls were cared for. Was purchased certified preowned from a dealership. Every time I fix something there's another problem.

Wipers run continuously and don't shut off. Lights flash on and off. Smoke comes from dashboard when car starts and/or car won't start. Problem happens both while car is stopped or in motion.

I too have noticed that the lighting at night is not as good, actually terrible, with my 2017 Equinox as compared to my 2008 Equinox when driving at night in the country roads and surbuban neighborhood roads with little street lighting. I rarely used the brights with my 2008 Equinox. With the 2017, the same roads and highways that I drive to and from daily are difficult to see without flicking the brights in areas on the road which I was able to see clearly on the road in my 2008 Equinox. I avoid traveling at night if I can postpone for daylight due to lighting issue. My eyes vision has not changed in three years and did improve in vision from the past. I suspect this issue of bad lighting also affects the chevy cruz 2014 & 2017 which my son has both now and always tries to "get back before dark" to his home. That statement was never made driving the pontiac he drove in the past for years. I will speak to my chevy car dealership about this issue. I am concerned as this is a major safety' issue. Chevrolet needs to compare and resolve. This issue needs to be escalated! I will contact the manufacturer as well to put them on notice of this very dangerous and defective manufacturer condition.

Had fuses checked because rear passenger door light don't work window don't go down manuel shift don't work and rear liftgate goes up then quarter ways down then back up then comes down on you now it goes up by it's self also it won't lock. It will go up when it's stationary.

I bought my 2014 chevy Equinox new. I was in crash which I hit a full size chevy truck in the driver door and it totaled my car and not one air bag came. I was crossing east and west the truck was going north to south.

The front lights on the car comes on at night when car is parked in the driveway, not being used by persons. This car may not start in the morning because the battery maybe dead, due to lights coming on by it self. We had the defective switch replaced in the past week, and that's when the lights started to act up.

When opening the storage in the front seat the light burns so hot that it burns the right hip/leg of the driver badly. Steering makes a super loud rubbing sound when turning wheel left or right that dealership cannot seem to fix.

Check engine light will not go off. Had engine check, it always smell like gass is leaking. When down to 60. . . 70 miles to empty. When you open the gas tank there is air flowing or gas draining. When the noise stops, then you can pump the gas with out the gas pump stopping. The light and blinkers are constantly having to be replaced.

2 days after purchase, heard a strange noise in car but unsure where it came from. Returned to dealer, problem couldn't be duplicated. I hear a strange thumping/beating sound periodically; heat exits vents while fan is off; several electrical? incidents, including; heater fan went off while driving on 29 degree winter day. It went back 1/2 hour later. (a few days prior, sounded like fan was losing power); digital speedometer on driver information center went off/blank for a minute while driving; phone charger (lighter & usb) outlet blew 2 fuses after using outlet for a few months with same charger & phone. Inconsistent depends which phone is being charged & charger used; ignition key got very hot after 45 min drive; dashboard lights (instrument cluster?) go dim when driving under a dark viaduct or tunnel, shouldn't they get brighter? manual doesn't explain how dic & instrument panel lights should operate. ); interior dome lights went on 2x on their own; infotainment system screen has a delay. Does not consistently display current song title & artist that is playing; digital temperature not consistently displayed on infotainment screen (new problem); oil life not reset after 1st oil change (caused confusion as to when to do next oil change. ); excessive water exiting tail pipe (told is normal). Service center where car was purchased checked car out on 4 different dates. No repairs done (except resetting oil life & replacing 2 fuses on charger), problems couldn't be duplicated. Went to another chevy service center, noted on paperwork "no problems found at this time", no other explanation given. Afterwards, I chatted with a rep @ chevy. Com, who filed a case & was told a service mgr will call in few days. It's been a few days, no call yet. I have 8200 miles & continue to feel unsafe, especially when driving with my 4 grandsons. They are reason I bought a new car!.

While driving at 55 mph the bell started ringing, then the dash lights came on. Tc-abs-brake, then the steering wheel stiffened up as like standard before power steering. I pulled over it scared the hell out of me, we could have been killed. I went to a gm authorized repair shop the said it was normal for this car to do???? I was talked into putting a new brain in the Equinox several thousand dollars $$$$$ and it still did the same thing. Went back to the dealer (chevy) they had the car for a few days, called and said they found the problem, yea a bent wire?? worked fine for a few months and now its doing the same thing again. Oh by the way I was informed that I did not need to put a new brain in the car the old one was very good. Gm is a realy bad place to buy any car any more, they do not care about the customer only the $$$ they sold me a car they new full well had problems.

I had to start replacing head lights due to moisture in my head lights. This is a manufacturing problem. I have mention this to chevy several times when we had the car service. The response was this is normal. This is not normal. They wanted me to pay half of the cost. I refused. They said that because it's not under warranty. I pray one night that I'm not driving and get into a accident due to light failure. This should be recall to prevent accidents and added expense due to chey negligence. I have own many cars and never had moisture in my head lights. I would like this to be corrected by chey. I'm not able to provide dates from last year, when I brought it up to the chevy dealership. They would have that information when the car got service . Chevy Equinox 2008.

All interior and exterior lights will flicker when started and will sometimes do it when breaks are applied. Does not start on first try sometimes. Sounds like it is starting but just stops.

While driving at day light and then turns to dust the dash board lights go down by approx. 75% brightness and takes from a few minutes to over five plus to come back to bright. This is alarming while driving, Chevrolet says that is normal. If anything the dash lights should stay the same or go brighter.

The lights in the interior of my car go out intermittently. I have been driving down the highway going 70mph and without warning the car just died on me, I had to have someone push me off the highway because the car would not start. I waited about 10 mins and it started up again. The collision senor goes off when there is nothing around the car and boggs down the car while driving. I have taken it to 2 different shops and they can not get the problem to duplicate. They have had my car since before thanksgiving and gave it back to me the week of christimas. I drove it and had no problems until that Friday on my way home from work crossing over a busy intersection the collision alert started ringing and the senor is off and the car died in the middle of the road. I was able to get it started right away and get out of the intersection. I took it back to the shop and they still can't get the problem resolved. I say the gm obviously has electrical issues with their cars, because reading others complaints about the same issues. This is a major safety issue!.

I put key into ignition and turned toward the start position and key went about halfway and stopped and all lights and dashboard went black,all electrical power went off. The car would not give me the key back. It was stuck in the ignition for about 1 1/2 hours until ers arrived. I tried pressing the brake and turning the steering wheel but it would still not give me the key. Meanwhile, the dash board starting flashing on and off and I heard a constant clicking noise. I called emergency roadside assistance and they came and gave me a boost and car started right up with no problems. My battery and alternator are completely fine.

I purchased a 2010 chevy Equinox on 4/1/2013. I have since had a few issues with the vehicle. I had the timing belt replaced due to knocking in the engine. I thank the good lord that it was under a recall. I have also been experiencing oil loss. I have my oil changed on a regular basis and it has been using oil between those changes. The last time I had it changed, I was told that there was no oil on the dip stick when they checked it prior to doing the change. I have also gone without a defroster as well. Haven't thought much about it since I haven't needed it yet but now the weather is changing and I know I am going to need it real soon. But guess what. Even though there is a recall on that, mine doesn't fall under that recall. I f there are so many people having the same issue, you would think it would be covered no matter. It isn't my fault that it is not working properly. So, right before christmas I am going to have to shell out over $400 to get this fixed so that I will be able to see out of my front windshield. I guess it is my fault that I have waited till now to worry with it. I am also having issues with my dash lights going in and out and my air bag light stays on. There should not be that many issues with one vehicle.

Stability traction control light came on with other warning lights (can't remember specifically what they said) as I was driving 40 mph. Car slowed down to about 20 and would not go any further. Fortunately I was able to get it to the dealership and it was repaired. Since then, I've had nothing but troubles. The warning light for the same will come on periodically but only as I start the car . . Maybe 1x every 3 months without any other problems. The electrical in the car is crap. My automatic driver side window will not function at all. The rear wiper no longer works. Sound on the driver side no longer works. Electric door lock no longer works on driver side I have to manually lock that door. I've had my car broken into because it appeared unlocked. Fortunately the alarm system still worked. Every once in a while there is a strong smell of burning electric. The smell is obvious on the inside of the vehicle as well as under the hood. I'm worried the car will catch on fire and my door locks will not function and someone will be killed.

Water constantly getting in the encasing and bulb is blowing out. Replaced bulb 5 times in one month.

I have had my Equinox since 2008; it is a 2007 model. I have had continual repairs on the electrical rear lights and the belt tensioner, but this next repair is by far the worst. When the car was in park position the odor of gasoline was strong around the perimeter of the car. When driving, the smell of gas circulated into the air conditioning system penetrating the inside of the car. The smell was strongest on the outer side by the gas tank. I took the car to get a diagnostic test and found a leak above the gas tank. Further inspection revealed the fuel pump was leaking gasoline, about six inches from the muffler. This defect could have resulted in serious injury or fatalities as I regularly carry children in the back seat. This car is only 5 years old and it seems to require too many repairs for the few years/miles it has traveled. As a thoughtful vehicle owner, I take precautions to preserve the life of my vehicle through regular maintenance and covered storage from natural elements. Certainly these kinds of defects are not an expected occurrence in this kind of vehicle. Disappointed Equinox owner :(.

Lights don't turn off,high beam and low beam not working properly.

The front head lights look like fish tanks, they are always full of water. When it rains or the car is washed the water goes into the lights. I've had to replace light bulbs 3 times, there both bad.

I purchase the 2007 Equinox used from day one I have had problems the first one was the car would slow down on its on and when I speeded up it would slow down then it wouldn't start I replaced the battery and now the same thing it will not start, there is a noise that I hear when I drive like something is lose, the back windshield wiper works and not works the passenger seat beat light keeps coming on I will never buy another Chevrolet product.

Shortly after purchasing this new Equinox, the dash lights would go off and then come back on after a period of time and variable miles of travel. I informed the garage where I purchased this vehicle and they said the little knob on the dash needed to adjusted. This did not work. I have had this vehicle to three different garages and told them of this problem and to enter it into the history of this vehicle. None of them have solved the problem and it is a safety factor when driving at night. The vehicle now is out of warranty but the problem still exists.

The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that the seals for the head lights failed, allowing water to penetrate the head light assembly and cause the lights to continuously burn out. The contact spoke with the dealer but the vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was unknown, but the current mileage was 114,000.
