My heater only blows out cold air! I've read over 500 complaints on other sires how gm decided to replace a metal door arm to the heater component with a plastic one which almost certainly will break at one point. Usually 3-4 years of owning the vehicle! apparently their is a huge amount of labor involved to replace a $60-200 part which is only available thru the dealer and a min. Of $1000 labor to fix because it requires removing the entire dash and other vital components of the vehicle! it is common knowledge this is going to happen and chevy is now going to start using metal arms?! gm will not recall this item even though dealers all over the country agree this is a set up.

A few issues. . . . . . The biggest being the fact the vehicle was brand new it has had a shake in the steering wheel as well as the whole vehicle. You can visually see and feel the steering wheel shake while driving. Had it into the dealership on many occasions, they balances the tires, checked the wheels, guarenteed me it was the tires, replaced 2 and said all fixed! nope annoyed that this was the 5th visit, asked for 4 new tires and I paid the difference to upgrade from the hankook's to the michelin's. Picked vehicle up and the shale was still there, and they scratched 2 of the wheels while changing the tires. Advised the dealership I would address this when I needed an oil change as I had enough! took it in on a Tuesday am they advised me they were going to change a and try a few things. . . . Friday they call me and say they also had an engineer from head office look at it, and no fix! so I have to go pick up a vehicle that I bought brand new, and it shakes? I would have bought used! I am now going to talk to the owner and say this is not acceptable! apparently its a v6 issue? the 09 and 11 have the same issue? really? I also have had a sticky note on the dash to cover the chrome clip used to open the storage area on the dash. As it shines right in your eyes while driving? again has no one test drove these vehicles? not impressed that I spent 47k and have a lemon!.

My 2008 Equinox headlights are full of water which make the visibility at night very bad. The door locks will only open the locks part of the way and you can't get in the car, and this seems to be affected more when the sun shines on the vehicle. It acts like the locks won't work in the heat. I also have the passenger air bag light coming on anytime someone sits in the passenger seat. I have been told by the dealership that the air bag will not deploy in an accident. This is such a comforting feeling, and I really don't understand why these issues are not recalled by the auto maker. Can anyone help us? there are thousands of these vehicles on the road that are not safe. . . . . . . . .

My 2010 Chevrolet Equinox has an automatic door lock feature which automatically locks all doors when the vehicle is placed into gear. My concern is that if by accident, high water, or some other circumstance, the power locks and windows become inoperative as a result of electronic failure, and occupants become trapped in the vehicle. The door lock post cannot be grasped when in locked position. The dealer informs me this feature cannot be turned off. There has been no incident. I have to fill in the incident date in order to file the complaint.

Water leaking into the spare tire well. Six inches of water found! discovered when rear seat floor was saturated from the sloshing in the spare tire area. First 60,000 miles vehicle was kept in garage. Recently began leaving it outside, rainy weather occurred, hence flooding of spare tire area. Dealer does not accept as "factory defect" gm bulletin document id:2198426.

On 5/27/11 my rear wiper froze up in the on mode which caused my battery to go dead. In trying to jumper the car we noticed the driver door would not open even with the handle. The passenger doors would open. I had to crawl over the console to flip the hood release so we could start the car. My concern is if there was an accident & battery was dislodged you would never be able to get the driver out. This is a big safety concern for me as I am the primary driver of this 2008 Equinox. Has anyone else noticed this safety hazard? I talked with the dealer & he was unaware of this problem.

2008 sport Equinox nothing but problems since I drove it off the lot 2 years ago with only 6 miles. 2008 chevy Equinox sports & the transmission want at 40,000ish miles while I was driving in a snow storm. Took the dealer one month to repair because they couldn't get the parts. Also had the steering repaired 4 times, colar repaired. The old dealer did not believe me and the noise was there again & again. It turned out to be the rack. It was a grinding noise which should like my abs, but it was the steering rack and a loud squealing in the steering wheel. I found a nice dealer who finally believed me and fixed it last week even though it was out of warranty with the new dealer & gm's help. Just makes me nervous what else is in store for me since the truck is now out of warranty. There was other issues too, like the CO sensor, computer and brake is front heavy. The truck should have been recalled, makes you wonder while this model was only made for 1 year. But since I am a women I do not know what I am talking about! tried to take in, lol, not worth anything and do not have the money to start over.

Door locks do not unlock unless manually operated and steering box faulty causing loose steering.

I own a 2005 Chevrolet Equinox lt. I purchased it in March of 2005 and have been the first and only owner of this vehicle. Since April 2005 this vehicle has had trouble starting. I could turn the key to start the ignition and it would stutter and turn off all the way. Sometimes I could not get the vehicle started after several tries unless I pressed on the gas pedal while turning the ignition key. I had it looked at by the Chevrolet dealer but they did not find anything wrong with the car and at the time of turning on the vehicle at the car dealer to try to explain the problem the car turned on without any stuttering. These problems persisted even after having replaced the starter and battery. The dealer could not offer anymore explanations or suggestions. Additionally the key can be removed from the ignition while the car is on and while driving. The key cannot always be removed from the ignition smoothly. Sometimes it gets stuck halfway out and it takes some maneuvering of the key to remove it completely. Now the key will not turn at all in the ignition when trying to start the vehicle. I've tried straigthening out the tires before trying to turn the key as well as turning the wheel while turning the key but the key does not turn.

When the consumer put the car into park, the doors automatically unlocked. Felt that this could cause a safety hazard within bad neighborhoods. The consumer was able to switch the feature to off.
