I am 62 years old and self employed. I do appliance service and drive over 25,000 miles every year. I have owned many different vehicles over the years. A year ago I purchased a new 2008 Chevrolet g2500 3/4 ton service van. I have never owned any other vehicle where I was more prone to hitting the gas pedal while attempting to apply the brakes. On numerous occasions I have found myself applying both the brakes and gas at the same time. I feel the problems is the close proximity of the two pedals and that they are very close to the same height. I have become very aware of this problem, but find that unless I am extremely alert, it still happens. I fear that at some point, I will find myself in some kind of accident because of this and really am fearful of what may happen if I need to apply the brakes in an emergency situation.
