1 Ignition Switch problem

Failure Date: 03/06/2020

Please consider this communication as a formal complaint against general motors. My name is john abbott. I own a Chevrolet Hhr. I want to relay to you my current frustrations with general motors. I have been trying to get my Hhr fixed since last December. Apparently, general motors has not been paying it's dealers adequately to make these repairs. I did not understand that this defect within my Hhr could result in my possible death. I live in ketchikan alaska. Vehicles have to be transported by barge or by ferry to the only gm dealership which is mendenhall auto center located in juneau alaska. . And, there would be no reason whatsoever why anyone in their right mind would ship their car to juneau for a simple $100 repair and lose the utility of their car. My car is a 2007 Hhr. The VIN number of the car is 3gcda15d87s639438. The recall calls for an ignition switch replacement - number n140063 and replace ignition lock cylinder and ignition key number n140113. Parties: john peters, owner of the auto works, ketchikan alaska, phone number area code 907-225-5632. Don roguska, service manager, mendenhall auto center, juneau alaska, phone number area code 800 478-1386. Car owner: john abbott, 1016 north point higgins road, ketchikan alaska 99901 9433 phone number area code 907-225-9495. Action requested to be initiated by the national highway safety administration is the following: call the parties referenced in this letter to validate information I have given you. Next, use your enforcement tools to convince general motors that it is in their best interest to get my car repaired as soon as possible. My safety should not be held hostage over a monetary renumeration matter. Gm must resolve their disputes with their dealerships in a fair an equitable maner and honor their safety commitments and decree order. Yours truly, john abbott.

2 Ignition Switch problem

Failure Date: 09/29/2015

My husband was injured in an accident on 9-29-2015. What happened was my husband was stopped on the interstate and a truck slammed into my husband. He said his car turned off as soon as the first impact, airbags did not deploy. There was a second impact from the same truck, which was on my husbands passenger side. The car is completely totaled. My husband was lucky to walk away from this accident. The Hhr was recalled for the ignition switch last year and we had the new part installed 2/2015 when the dealership received the parts. We have two issues electrical, why did his car turn off when it was hit from the rear? did the impact knock the ignition switch out of place? also why didn't the airbags deploy? now I know if the car is off the airbags are off but why did the car go from on to completely off unless it was a faulty new part that we received in our car.

3 Ignition Switch problem

Failure Date: 06/22/2014

In June of 2014 my cars ignition turned off as a result I almost impacted with another vehicle. Also after this my temp guage no longer worked. Took it to bill holt Chevrolet where they replaced my ignition switch after I got it back my drivers door will not lock or unlock consistently not even with the key, my service airbag and power steering lights keep coming on, and now radio and instrument panel lights go off. I have to stop turn the car off and restart they might come back on and they might not. I am reluctant to take the car back to bill holt Chevrolet as they kept the car for 3 and a half months to repair the ignition. Also I can get no satisfaction out of them when I picked up the car the last time my temp gauage still wasnt working they said it had nothing to do with the recall. I am reluctant to drive for any distance as the power steering fails often. I have contacted gm on several occasions and can get no satisfaction from them either. Are they not goverened by an agency that makes sure these repairs are done and done correctly. Please email me who I need to contact to get these issues resolved. Carterbrenda53@yahoo. Com.

6 Ignition Switch problem

Failure Date: 04/16/2014

The recall I have had so far was with the ignition switch and that took the dealership over one month to repair. After my car was repaired and apparently rekeyed I am locked out of my car, the key will not unlock my car door. I called the gm roadside assistance, with hopes of assistance. They inform me they will be a $59. 95 fee to unlock my car and they accept all major credit cards. I explained to them this was not my error it as a result of the ignition recall they stood firm of their fee and suggested I call the local authorities. When I contacted gm about the recall I had shared with them I was having power steering issues. While I am driving my car my power steering goes out and it becomes hard to steer as well the is a display on the dashboard "power steering". On several occasions on the street, freeway and while turning into a parking space. I then became aware of a recall on Hhr power steering, however they say it not with my vehicle. Later I read an article stating that jeff boyer was offering a lifetime warranty on the vehicles that have not been recalled. Gm also said 309,160 non-turbocharged Chevrolet Hhrs from the 2006-2008 model years model year that are not subject to these recalls will be given lifetime warranties for replacement of the electronic power steering motor. So then when I call the 800 number to find out how I may have this power steering issue addressed with my district advisor he shares with me there has been no statement made that he is aware of I feel unsafe driving in this vehicle and with the round around and non assistance I am getting from gm I am not sure I ever will. Best regards, burgett mcbride.

12 Ignition Switch problem

Failure Date: 11/20/2012

We took our 2007 Chevrolet Hhr into the dealership as the recall noticed prescribed. My wife waited 1 1/2 hours for the repair. The dealer ship personnel returned asking my wife for the, quote: "old keys because they will no longer work after the repair" then handing her a new set of keys after surrendering the old keys. When my wife returned home the ignition switch still did not work as the switch tumbler would not release the key in the park position as before the "faulty ignition switch had been replaced". I still had one of the original ignition keys , as told by the dealership "it wouldn't work". . . I placed the old key in the ignition switch and it started the car. It would not release the old key as before the "r&r". All we received imo was a new set of keys & false hope that the general motors defects had been resolved. The Hhr still has the same defects as it did before taking it to the dealership. (smoke & mirrors no resolve).
