1 Power Steering Pump problem

Failure Date: 09/15/2019

Add random speeds 30-80 mph the electric power steering pump with shut off, resulting in no power steering with no warning other than the little chime beep after it shuts off. The pump was replaced at my expense and I want reimbursed by dealership. At times I was doing over 70 miles an hour going around curves and turns and it would shut off. ## #vpic# 1 - check digit (9th position) does not calculate properly #vpic#.

2 Power Steering Pump problem

Failure Date: 04/16/2018

Like many pthers, power steering indicator on dash and no power steering. Works for few seconds when car us restarted then out again. Have replaced pump twice already .

3 Power Steering Pump problem

Failure Date: 03/24/2014

I have a 2007 chevy Hhr. I've had the fuel pump replaced. But not many others. Until now there is a chime and the power steering indicator on the dash comes on and the power steering assist goes off. At first it was once in awhile. Now I can drive 30 seconds to 10 min and the power assist goes out. I restart and it comes back for a moment or so. All the way to work no power steering assist. On the way home it worked fine. I can't find any pattern to it. Key in the ignition only as stated in the recall notice I received about the power steering going out. Everything on the key chain it seems to work more often than not. I have contacted a chevy dealership and chevy. But since my VIN is not on the power steering recall I will have to pay for it out of pocket. Which I do not have the money after I did my taxes. This is obviously an issue and needs to be fixed. I found a notice on the gm website that listed the 2006-2007 Hhr to have lifetime warranty on the power steering. But since there is no recall on it I am out of luck. I sent the article to the chevy dealership and they won't do anything because the VIN isn't listed. As far as I am concerned this should be covered. Far too many people have had this issue fo it not to be covered to some extent.

4 Power Steering Pump problem

Failure Date: 07/09/2013

On August 28, 2012, the electronic power steering motor went out on my 2007 Chevrolet Hhr. We went across the oncoming lane and it was extremely hard for my husband to get it back into the right lane. On 8/30/2012, we took it to a gm garage and they replaced it with a reman. Powering steering motor, giving us a one year/12,000 mile warranty. . On July 9, 2013, I was driving the Hhr out of state and was coming out of a slight left hand curve when the power steering motor went out again, which I was not able to steer the car and it ended up in the right hand bank/ditch. Less than one year and less than 12,000 miles later, the gm garage said that they would replace the power steering pump if we brought the car back to them. That is impossible because the damage was more than enough to total the car and it happened in another state. They said there is nothing they can do. Plus, now I have points against my insurance.

7 Power Steering Pump problem

Failure Date: 11/25/2011

Two days ago, while driving 25 mph in my parents' residential development, I received a "power steering" alert on my information bar and immediately lost control of my steering. I was in the process of making a left turn and luckily there was no one else on the street at the time or I surely would have hit them rather than just driving onto the curb before coming to a stop. It was extremely hard to turn the steering wheel in any either direction. I was able to regain control only after turning the ignition off and restarting. After the visit with my parents, the power steering went out three times in a twelve mile drive home. In two days this has now happened six times without rhyme or reason at varying speeds and at different lengths of drive time. I first discovered the problem on Friday night and immediately began to research the problem on the internet. I discovered that the chevy cobalt and chevy Hhr from years 2006-2010 share the same steering motor (not a pump with fluid) and they are a known problem. Apparently there has been a recall for the cobalt but not the Hhr? there was talk of a recall in canada for the Hhr but not in the USA? I don't understand why when this is a very serious safety concern. I contacted my dealership early on Saturday morning. I told him what was happening and he said that "the serial number on my particular vehicle was not eligible for part replacement coverage". How are some covered and not others? I cannot drive the car without fear of again losing control in the middle of a turn, but this time causing a serious accident. This needs to be investigated immediately.
