The contact owns a 2008 Chevrolet Hhr. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, she noticed there was a puddle on the ground located on the rear driver's side. Upon inspection, the contact detected a fuel odor and noticed there was a fuel leak coming from the fuel lines. The dealer was made aware of the failure and scheduled an upcoming appointment for diagnosis. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The contact related the failure to NHTSA action number: pe20011 (fuel system, other). The failure mileage was approximately 113,000.
Two issues: key won't remove from ignition, searched google and got keys out. Second ; power locks ,car won't unlock, not even with keys. So far, this has cost me $150. 00.
Stored car in garage from October 2020 to March 1 2021. When parked there was a fuel leak of 3-5 drips per second at lh rear wheel. When started and moved out of garage on March 1 there was a steady stream of fuel. The enclosed picture shows puddle of fuel under car after keying-off after the 40 foot move. Prior to garaging the car I contacted Chevrolet about the "very common" leak and was told to call my local dealer, all to no avail. I've been waiting to hear if the July 2020 NHTSA investigation will turn into a recall. When will a ruling be available? I'm at the point where I will be doing a shade-tree-mechanic repair in lieu of waiting on NHTSA. Gm (Chevrolet) have been building cars for 100 years. The company knows many vehicles are driven in rust belt states. There is no excuse for fitting cheap un-coated mild steel fuel and purge lines to vehicles that operate in this environment. Note that this vehicle currently has a check engine light on. The code is for a purge system leak. I have found that the purge line running parallel to the fuel line is just as corroded as the fuel line. This is likely where the purge system leak resided. So this vehicle fails to keep liquid fuel in it's fuel line and fails to keep evaporative fuel in the purge system. Please let me know when the recall will be enacted so I can stop needlessly polluting the earth with hydrocarbons. I'd rather have Chevrolet foot the bill for the repair rather than me. Thank you!.
I were driving it and he's just stop bullying and I will press all way down the gas always down to the flow in the pool again without the first time I did it and that's what happened.
After the recall on the ignition switch and the key fob no longer worked, I started having problems with the drivers doors not locking properly. Several times I locked it and went on only to come back and not be able to get into car with the key. It took awhile for me to figure out that I have to watch the latch when I lock it and if it does not go down all the way, I have to unlock and lock again and pull the latch up and then lock the driver door from the outside. Always parked and out of vehicle. There is not just one date this happened. I have had to call for assistance to get in.
Power steering failure while moving down road.
Wed. Dec. 21 car flooded when rained. Took to dealer was told over $4000 to fix. Rewiring, carpets ripped out and replaced need to be done. Checked online. Seems to be a common issue with this model. No recalls. Could not afford so picked car up. If this is a problem that affects wiring (potential fire) does it not also affect brakes, steering, etc. Is this not a hazard?car has less than 36,000 mls on it. Seems to me to be a defect in manufacturing as mine is not the only car that has this issue. Shouldn't manufacturer be responsible for this problem. A customer should not have to drive with their feet sitting in two inches of water while driving in the rain. Should they?.
Door latch failure while merging onto freeway. Door flew open.
I am original owner bought in 2008. I have 38080 miles on my car and have to replace the gas tank. After filling my tank, I smelled gasoline for several days, when my grandson went underneath and felt the top of the tank and found it leaking, from the top connection. I am having it replaced, @ several hundred dollars and feel this is a very unusual for an 8 year old car.
There are several blind spots in this car makeing it difficult to see cars on the side of you I have been almost hit 14 times in one day I almost hit a pedestrian on cross walk to the right side this car is so dangerous to me and others this car needs to be pulled of the the road car was in motion each time and on highway as well as town roads.
No one can pinpoint what the cause is, but my power steering cuts off suddenly while driving. This has happen numerous times. I have searched the internet and noted several articles and postings that detail the same problem with similar cars in the Hhr 2008. This happens when the car is in motion. Tread quarters thinks replacing one of the tires would help, but it has not. Chevy needs to look at this issue since it seems more electrical than anything. There is something defective or faulty with the car. The power steering always cuts off when I am either turning, driving, on the highway, etc. Parking is horrible when this happens. It takes so much effort trying to turn. It needs to be investigated since other owners complain of the same thing. I even tried balancing and rotating the tires before but it keeps happening. . About 2wks ago all the sound in my car went out for about 5mins then came back on! tonight 1/4/15 about 8:50pm I stopped at a gas station to get gas I put my foot on the break and went to put it in park and it wouldn't shift it took me 5mins to finally get it into park! once in park I tried to take the key out and it wouldn't come out it was stuck in accessory mode! I kept trying to take it out finally after about 10/15mins I got it out! went to leave to and my car wouldn't start! it will turn to accessory mode but wont turn over and actually start! I had to call roadside assistance to tow me home! I had the recall for the ignition switch fixed but now its doing this? I don't know what it is but this is currently my only car!.
My repairs to my recall was not done correctly back when I had lived in new york at an albany, new york named depaula Chevrolet and two of the recalls I had called depaula Chevrolet about and I had told them that it was doing that problem and they had refused to correct the problem about I now presently reside in athens, GA as of today and so forward.
Head on collision. . . On state highway. . . Fire was result, ending in fatality.
It was a chilly morning, and I drove the car almost all the way to work (I drive approximately 25 miles, back and forth 5 days a week), and I heard a horrible boom. According to gm, it was the rear-window defroster getting too hot, and causing the window to shatter. It is completely in pieces, shattered. I've never heard of such a thing, but after a little investigating, mine is not the first to do this.
My wife was driving we had pulled out of a parking lot on route 207 in the town of hamptonburgh,NY. No more then 20 feet from exiting the parking lot the car shut down and pulled to the right causing us to hit a telephone pole and totaling the car. It is my contention that power assist steering failed thus causing the accident. We where notified of the ignition recall had that taken care of in August of 2012. However chevy/gm contention is the ignition did not fail. The body shop mechanic and gm/chevy's own service advisor at the local dealership said that a catsophic malfunction took place causing the accident.
I was driving and the car died and I lost my power steering and hit the ditch and apparently hit something in the ditch and busted my oil pan. Now I cannot tell if my motor locked up or what. It will not start. This is not the first time my car has died while driving.
I was approaching a business driveway that required me to make a left hand turn, so I braked (at which time there occurred a heavy side-to-side shimmy of the steering wheel, a "clunk" or "pop" from the area of the engine compartment or front suspension, and a chime from the dash) and began the turn into a driveway across lanes of oncoming traffic. The steering became extremely difficult midway through the turn, which caused me to drive partially through a ditch rather than completing my turn safely and entering the driveway fully on the pavement. I then had to park, turn the key to the "off" position and restart in order to reactivate the power steering. We have been experiencing this randomly for several months and have even acquired some minor body and cosmetic damage due to having lost power steering in a curve. When I contacted the dealership, they told me it might be from a faulty ignition switch that is now on order and may take quite awhile to become available. Today, I ran an internet search and found hundreds of mentions of this same problem within my year model, including a number of recalls that seem to affect the electrical power steering of this model and others. However, when I again called the dealership to inquire, they informed me that my VIN is not included in any of the steering recalls, and that I would have to pay them or someone else to make the repairs and attempt to get reimbursed if it ever does become included. The advisor also instructed me to call 1-800-101-0220 to complain, which only gets me a recording stating that the call cannot be completed, which sounds as if it has been disconnected. This is a serious safety issue not only for the drivers and passengers of these cars, but also for other drivers and possibly pedestrians who might find themselves in harm's way when this completely random event occurs.
I was turning left on the corner of my house, driving less than 15 mph and then the back glass of my car exploded without reason and the glass was destroyed in pieces. It was very scary because sounded a big an explosion.
Champion Chevrolet -athens al dates and witnesses can be provided 3 times ignition locked 3 times key would not work in the door-locked out one each since the recall ignition was replaced Aug 7th the first ignition lock in April/may was towed to mclanders mcclardy huntsville al -repaired under the first ignition recall- have recall letter and the repair ticket. The ignition housing was busted in that incident and champion discovered it lockouts- I was an hour late for a fasting ultrasound. Late for homecoming at church and food ruined locked in the heat. Twice on ignition stranded late evening in parking lots. Once after back surgery on a walker. I am genuinely concerned for my safety at this point. Gm case number is71-1343411715. Gm insists I pay the $300 for the housing or take it up with mclanders-mccardy?? I have used all my roadside for 2 quarters. Gm has not refunded the $50 lockout charge 3 days after the 2nd ignition was replaced. Isn't the ignition housing part of an ignition? today from . I just hung up with the dealership and they mentioned that the ignition switch housing is damaged and that is what is causing the key to hang up. The dealership mentioned that this needs to be replaced in order to prevent your key from getting stuck. Once that is completed they can proceed with diagnosing the cause of the lockout concerns you've experienced. I understand that you said that a previous dealership was the one who worked with the ignition switch housing last. Unfortunately, this is not something we can offer cost assistance for, as it is not an item included in the recall. Since you mentioned it was in mclanders/mccardy's possession when the housing was damaged, I would recommend getting in contact with them to discuss available options. ,.
I was in my 2008 Hhr cheve and crashed into a concrete wall the car was totaled. Air bags did not deploy causing a hip fracture and major surgery and ongoing therapy resulting in a hip replacement later on.
The ignition is locked in the on position. It will not shut off, the only way to turn it off s to removed the fuel pump fuse and then disconnect the battery. The battery is located under the spare tire in the trunk area.
Capitol tires 215/50z radial tubeless all season sport uhp 12/27/12- purchased 4 tires 1/10/13- bubble on side of tire 12/27/14- bubbles on sides of 2 more tires I have never had this problem with any other tires.
This vehicle has problems picking up speed. It jerks constantly and when idling it shutters. I have looked at message boards and seen others with same complaints. These problems need to be addressed. This is a huge safety issue when I'm trying to merge.
Our 2008 chevy Hhr just starts to shake on the highway once it hits 60 mph to about 64 mph, then it goes away. The shaking is really bad it makes the whole car shake and my hands began to shake pretty hard on the steering wheel. We've replaced all the tires with brand new goodyear eagle gt and them balanced and wheel alignment was done. But the car still shakes at that speed.
