In 2016 the rear passenger door latch failed. Thinking it was a natural wear & tear type thing, we ordered parts online and re[paired it ourselves for about $100 with in 6 months something inside the door failed, we opened it up and thought we repaired it again, but something is wrong and it just wont open. Has not opened in over 5 years, but I can live with it. After all it is the rear passenger door. In 2018 the front passenger door latch failed and again we ordered parts online and repaired it ourselves for about $100. In 2019 the spring inside the front passenger door broke, but since the door still opened & locked, we let it ride. I can live with the interior door handle feeling loose as long as it still opens the door. In June, 2021 the front drivers interior door handle broke off in my hand while opening the car door. I took it to the dealership for repair at a cost of $237. . . . Should have just ordered the part and replaced it myself. . . . Or switched out the one from the rear passenger door (lol) since we dont use that door anymore. Wednesday, 11/17/21, the driver front door latch failed. It would not have been much of an issue, but we were not home and I had to drive home with the window down and holding the door closed. This caused my husband, who already has anxiety issues, much anguish. I now also had to deal with his having a panic attack while driving, with the window down and holding the door so it would not open while moving. We did stop at the local mechanic and their initial parts search says $245 for parts, plus labor, so roughly $400 this time. I am starting to wonder if the door latches on chevy cars are just defective and needed to be recalled way before 2016? I know there was a recall on Ford door latches. I have heard instances where the hatch latches have failed on 2011 Hhrs, so I know it is just a matter of time before my hatch latch as well as the drivers rear door latch fails.
Someone has hacked my vehicle. At night I can hear my car doors being unlocked and locked with a remote and items have been stolen from my car. My car was parked over night.
I noticed a stick on the window from the recent storms, and when I went to open the driver's side door to remove the stick from the windshield, the handle just came off in my hand. This happened in my driveway. What if this had happened in an accident, and I had been trapped in my car? sudden temperature changes and the plastic connector's shape probably doesn't help. Connector isn't designed well, it's close to a 45 degree angle. So, any stress all goes to the same point on the connector.
When stopping and putting car in park, key will not turn to off and cannot be removed. If key left in, battery went dead and we were stuck in a RV storage lot.
I was driving down the interstate at about 70 mph, when I began to get the messages service esc esc off, traction control of, engine reduced power and not to mention all my lights lit up like a christmas tree. Also when all of this started to happen my vehicle jerks reduced speed drastically and was shaking vigorously I hurry up and exited the interstate and turned off my vehicle I waited a few minutes and the vehicle started right up 3 miles or so down the road the exact same thing happened only this time I was turning unto a busy intersection and I was left stranded in the middle of the street because the car would not budge I had to end up getting it towed. This is something that it's very dangerous and if I would have had my kids with me I wouldn't be as calm as I am now. I am livid and outraged as to why this has not been recalled. How many complaints does it take until this type of situation gets addressed the way it needs to? now haven't spent over $600 my problem still exists but only now my vehicle is inoperable and parked. Please someone give us answers the correct answers the answers we've all been searching for and do the right thing.
Both front inside door handles broke off on separate occasions. The only way out was to lower the window and open from the outside. The situation could be an extreme hazard should the vehicle be on fire or under water. What if in a cold climate the window was froze? what if the vehicle was in an accident and wouldn't start therefore the window wouldn't work. What if a elderly person or a child was in the passenger seat and was unable to lower the window and open from the outside? internet research shows numerous other incidents of the same problem. The potential for life and death is likely, not to mention nearly $600 for repairs. Vehicles are equipped with door handles for a purpose.
The interior driver side door handle broke off while trying to open it while I was parked. I had to put the driver side window down to open the door from the outside. If I had to get out in a emergency I won't be able to get out safely and become trapped because if this safety issue.
I have owned 2 chey Hhr. On both vehicles, the inside driver door handles have broken within a year of ownership. Cheap plastic door handles did not last as they should. It is not replacing just the door handle, but you have to take apart the whole door and replace the complete mechanism. I very expensive fix. I had to roll down driver window in order to reachoutside and open door from outside the vehicle.
I was driving down the street and all of a sudden the car light went on for the traction warning . Its a yellow triangle with car in the middle started flashing , car making a noise while driving and when I was trying to stop it was making a craking noise and couldn't stop easily. It was as though I was driving on ice and sliding or something and had no traction. It was scary. Thrn it stopped and I proceeded home then it fid it again then it stopped then got home and had to fet my son at work so its my only car. I took a chance and went in car and it drove fine. Taking to orileys to check computer today. I don't have any money to tk it to dealer and chances are they won't know what is wrong cause it's working fine now and I'm so scared cause I don't know when its gonna happen again. I also have read where many people have had the same issue and no one really knows what's wrong. I dont what to do.
Left turn signal activated without touching the turn signal to use it, the the hazard lights turned on and of twice without ever touching the button to activate those. Recently the batter just died and new replaced. But the key also was stuck in ignition til was towed to dealership where ignition recalls were repaired. Now this.
Drivers inside door handle snapped off. Have to open window to open door. Called gm they told me this problem wasn't on a recall. This was also not covered under my extended warranty. I have to purchase a handle and have it installed. This is a safety issue to get out of the car during an emergency, what if my electrical system shuts down, how can I roll down the window, I'll have to climb over the passenger seat to get out and that could be to late. They need a recall on this problem.
Was traveling at night on interstate 70 between kansas city and st louis when the check engine light can on along with the traction control light at the same time the on dash message center said engine power reduced, traction control off, and esc off. At the same time the car lost speed and before I could get off the road I was almost rear ended by a truck, at the time it was raining. Since then it has happened numerous times with no warning. After stopping the car with the engine off for a very short time it will start and run fine with the traction control light off. But the check engine light remaining on. The code for the check engine light is p2135 which is a code for the throttle pedal position sensor, this has been replaced and the problem remains to happening. I think this could be very dangerous and could cause accidents resulting in injuries. The vehicle has been to a number of mechanics and the problem continues. I spoke with gm this week and they said that they had never heard of the problem, I think they should look online you fill find many posting complaining of this problem covering many model years other than 2011.
I work two jobs just bought my 2011 chevy Hhr just over a year ago and started getting reduced engine power light and then lose power and have trouble going over 20 struggles to get to 40 mph I have 3 young children that ride with me and there safety is numbe one and if I can't trust my new vehicle then how can I trust chevy.
While exiting the parking lot, pulling onto the street, my driver side door swung open and I nearly fell out of the car had it not been for my seat belt. The\at was 3 months ago. It happened again today while I was driving and pulling out of a store parking lot onto the main road, my door flew open on me again, it scared the living daylights out of me.
I was parked in driveway when I went to open my drivers side door the silver handle broke right in half cut my hand but I just cleaned and bandaged my hand. I couldn't afford to fix it so I looked up the part . Its a $50 but they want $250 at the dealer. I finally got some money together and because it was winder and one tome the window was frozen and the door didn't close good when I got in so I had to stop and climb out of tbe car from the passengers side with a bad back too. Im disabled. It could have bern a dangerous situation but anyway I has to gather the money and fix it because I knew I couldn't continue to climb out the passanger side and with the handle broke and the cold weather causing the window to be frozen I had no choice. Everyone is right GMC should be responsible and we should be refunded our money and and issues we went thru. Its not a cheep car and this part is like made of plastic and its $50 and the dealer is ovr charging. Its all wrong. Im tired of chevy. I don't know why I bought this car.
I was driving home with my 2 children in my vehicle and hit and slight bump in the road and the service air bag notification came on. This startled me and I became very scared because I have never had a vehicle say service air bag? I am very concerned about this issue that if I am in an accident god forbid that the airbags will not deploy if needed I took my vehicle in to be serviced for ignition recall today after waiting almost 5 months for part and informed service technician about what had occurred and the response I received was" we can do a diagnostic on the issue for $89. 00? " I do not feel that I should have to pay to have this defect to researched and fixed due to danger that this poses to the safety of myself and my children. I am requesting that authorization be given to have the issue with the service air bag light to be researched and repaired at no charge due to all the inconvenience these issues are causing me and the time that I have to be without a vehicle in order to have necessary repairs completed so that my family and I can have a safe vehicle. Also, the driver side door handle just broke upon opening door and I am requesting assistance with discount to have this part replaced. I am a single parent and I have limited income and cannot afford to keep making repairs on the vehicle due to faulty or defective parts. Please assist me as soon as possible. Vehicle will jerk really hard when shifting gears, car is an automatic, very scary to drive. Don't know what is wrong. Jerks then check engine light comes on.
Went to open door to get out of car and the handle came off in my hand.
I am 1 person, and my door handles on the inside are plastic and have broken off! I have to climb to the back and have 1 door that still has a handle working! I only have 48000 miles on it! the handles are cheap plastic and I live in fflorida and it gets hot!.
My husband and I purchased a vehicle from a chevy dealership and within a couple of months the driver side door stopped opening from the inside. Therefore we have to open the door from the outside to get out or crawl to the passenger door to get out. This is a safety hazard for anyone who gets in a car accident, or anyone having a car issue. I have talked to many people I know who have the same car and they have the same problem. I would get it fixed but we don't have the money. My husband would fix it but then it would void my warranty. Also had my car brought for ignition recall got it fixed and told them about my air bag light coming on and off. This is also a major problem and needs to get fixed, I have 3 children and they wont tell me which one is faulty if any. As well no money to fix it. $100 deductable every time to just check is not very reasonable.
I grabbed the door handle to open my chevy 2011 Hhr driver's side door to exit my vehicle and the handle completely broke off!!! I have never had this kind of thing happen before and am not sure why a car manufacturer would be allowed to make one of the most integral parts of a vehicle out of cheap material. To add insult to injury, the dealership is hinting that I may have to bear the responsibility of paying something to fix this issue by bringing the car in to see if the issue is covered by an extended warranty or covered at all. This issue should be a recall no brainer, I should not have to cover the cost to fix this in any way. Also to my surprise, this appears to be a common complaint amongst chevy 2006-2011 Hhr owners where they have been told by the dealerships that it would cost them between 300 & 400 dollars to "replace the entire door panel" or they have been told by gm that a "diagnostic" has to be done that might cost them out of pocket money. Both scenarios are absolutely insane. I am not sure why this has not been made a recall issue, thereby forcing gm to fix this problem at no cost to the consumer???? it is a manufacturing issue as well as safety issue. If something happens and I need to exit the vehicle quickly, I will not be able to do it. Also, I live in chicago and as everyone knows it is coming upon the winter season and if last year was any indication, we could be in for another brutal winter where below zero temperatures have a freezing effect on power windows, which is my current method of exiting the vehicle. I purchased this car in Mar. Of 2014 and this is not something I would have known to even consider to think about because I thought this is the kind of thing that your agency should be on top of. Please help!!!.
I have already filed one complaint last month!! have not recieved any reply back by no one. My tcn was fen1-47867. This car is dangerous to be driving, cops have pulled me over several times due to some the problems! all 7 officers gave me their names and badge numbers n they told me if I need to take this to court, they will be n court. . They told me the car needs to be completely fixed or put n a different car and not this same make n model. I have a lil girl and I will do what I have to do to protect her and otger innocent lives round me, if it means I get a lawyer n take this to court. So please do something very soon bout this car!!! ive been saving all complaints ive sent so I will have them for my records in case I need to take further more stronger action to get this car fixed or put me in an ext cab Dodge truck please. I wanted a truck to begin with, but this car was just forced on me or dealer wasnt gonna give me nothing at all. . Thank you, madonna white!!.
When I bought this car the back doors where a little hard to open I chalked it down to it still being not broke in well ive had this car for a year now and the back handles do not work at all from the inside sometimes one will work this is a big safety issue if there is a accident who ever is sitting in the back cannot open the doors I really think chevy needs to fix this issue before they get sued only hope no one gets killed / hurt over the back doors being opened ive had it checked 2 times they said its just because of lack of use that's bs considering its been well used for the year ive had it and now the check engine light is coming on great.
