While driving 60 mph with the cruise control activated, the contact depressed the accelerator pedal, but the vehicle failed to accelerate and remained in first gear. In addition, the air bag, traction control, and check engine indicators illuminated. The vehicle was serviced per manufacturer recall number: 08016. The vehicle was taken to an unknown dealer where it was diagnosed that there was an air bag failure. The vehicle was repaired, but the contact stated that the vehicle experienced the same symptoms. Approx : March 2016 - - 48000 miles, my cruise control system stopped functioning completely ,when turned on. Indicator light still works, researching I've found a simple burnt out brake light bulb may be the cause for this defective unrelated failure. Either way I'm not seeing any error messages or warnings alerting me to what problems I might really have so that they can be addressed. I purchase chevy Hhr in good conditions until I got on the freeway. As I was immerging in to the freeway the accelorator got stuck on 6rpm and was speeding 60mph I tried to slow down and the brakes didnt go down at all. It was all locked up my kids and I freak out with the speed that the car was picking up and how the breaks werent working I decided to use the emergency handdle and some side bushes to slow down the car and nothing worked! I checked to see if the cruise control was on and nothing then I checked to see if it was on drive it was the I pushed hard on the breaks but never once it went down at all it was so hard I force my foot so much and the break handdle emerged off the freeway and immediately hit something more solid to stop the car. It was then we headed to a building but I hit a palm tree. The car exploded black smoke and the airebags went off the front door didnt open and my daughter and I jump off through the small little windows. We thank god we are alive!! my two kids 11 and 8 could have died w me in that vehicle if I didnt exit the freeway before the car kept picking up speed. Was a very scary situation. I would never ever ride a chevy Hhr or any other chevy as I live. The car is completely destroyed in the front and the windows are cracked.

I recently started getting a dashboard message saying "reduced engine power" and the car loses power and will only get to about 10-15 mph. I was driving at round 45 mph when this happened and the car behind me almost hit me because the car slowed down too fast with no break lights until I hit them. Since then it happens randomly a few times a weeks. It doesn't seem to happen while on cruise control so I have been trying to use it as much as I can. I have read forums and this issue and it seems like no one can pin point the exact problem as it can mean a number of different things. I don't have the money to try out all the different fixes for this in hopes that I get the right thing fixed before I spend thousands of dollars. With the number of other people having this problem there should be a recall to at least have the car checked out to pin point the problem free of charge.

Cruise control on at 70 mph went up a medium hill the speed went down to 65 mph, transmission dowmshifts ,cruise control accelerates flat out to 75 mph before it releases. Unsettling when behind another vehicle. Dealership says all hours act the same way and is performing as designed.
