The electronic power steering motor assist system is not working. I start the car and within 2 minutes the car is saying that the eps is not functioning and steering the car becomes extremely difficult. All the time. Very unsafe at any speed especially turning. I would like my car to be included in the national recall.

The esc has gone out and the turn signals work, but now I have to turn them off manually. The ignition has been replaced twice. Once when it was new because the ignition would not turn off. The second time was a recall. The digital display which includes the radio, and information system turns on and off intermittently.

While driving at a speed of 45 miles per hour , all of a sudden in the dic a esc active started flashing and my car start losing speed and it felt like the traction kicked in. I immediately looked down to make sure it had not jumped out of gear. It was in the correct gear. The esc active went away after about 45 seconds, and about a mile down the road it did the same thing again and I had to put on mu emergency flashers and pull off the road. By the time I got it to the side of the road , the steering wheel started to lock up and it act like it did not want to stop when I applied the brakes. By this time the speed had dropped to about 15 miles per hour. The road conditions when this happen was dry , and the tires and the brakes on my car was in good working condition. Once it was towed to my house I drove it around my neighborhood about 5 times and nothing happened. I am too scared to do in highway driving of this car, because if it happens while I am on the interstate driving I could possibility be in a accident if this happens. I have read other reviews about this happening , but have not got any reasons to why this is happening. The car has roughly 87570 miles on it. I will be contacting the Chevrolet people tomorrow, before I take it to a repair shop.

Esc activation light comes on, car vibrates badly and hard to steer. Happens mainly on dry roads, at times going around a bend in the road. It is speratic, but last week happened almost everyday. Its been at the dealer 6 times to try to fix, but to no avail.

I have a 2009 Hhr and I have been having a number of problems the esc and the abs warning lights come at low speeds around 5 to 15 mph and the brakes make a growling noise I drive 80 miles a day back and forth to work in stop and go traffic on the interstate and the turnpike I am afraid I will rear end somebody or worse I don't want to let my wife drive the car because when it occurs she might not know on to react. When I turn the car off and it goes away for a while but comes back. And the service air bag light comes on from time to time when it is raining or heavy dew I had the recall performed on the air bags and it still is happening the passenger air bag display on the dash will come on when there is no one sitting in the passenger seat. The service abs light also comes on at the same time as the esc and the traction control light I don't feel safe I have 179,000 miles on the car the electrical system in this car has a major problem and it needs to be addressed by gm before more people are hurt or killed as I have read in other comments I don't want to take it to the dealer and just go thru the remove and replace tango trying to get lucky and fix the problem or play car doctor and treat the symptoms and not address the malady.

My husband was injured in an accident on 9-29-2015. What happened was my husband was stopped on the interstate and a truck slammed into my husband. He said his car turned off as soon as the first impact, airbags did not deploy. There was a second impact from the same truck, which was on my husbands passenger side. The car is completely totaled. My husband was lucky to walk away from this accident. The Hhr was recalled for the ignition switch last year and we had the new part installed 2/2015 when the dealership received the parts. We have two issues electrical, why did his car turn off when it was hit from the rear? did the impact knock the ignition switch out of place? also why didn't the airbags deploy? now I know if the car is off the airbags are off but why did the car go from on to completely off unless it was a faulty new part that we received in our car.

The contact owns a 2009 Chevrolet Hhr. While driving at 50 mph, the cruise control failed to activate and the brake lights remained illuminated. The electronic stability control indicator illuminated prior to the failures. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the issue. The VIN and failure mileage were unknown. Was traveling at night on interstate 70 between kansas city and st louis when the check engine light can on along with the traction control light at the same time the on dash message center said engine power reduced, traction control off, and esc off. At the same time the car lost speed and before I could get off the road I was almost rear ended by a truck, at the time it was raining. Since then it has happened numerous times with no warning. After stopping the car with the engine off for a very short time it will start and run fine with the traction control light off. But the check engine light remaining on. The code for the check engine light is p2135 which is a code for the throttle pedal position sensor, this has been replaced and the problem remains to happening. I think this could be very dangerous and could cause accidents resulting in injuries. The vehicle has been to a number of mechanics and the problem continues. I spoke with gm this week and they said that they had never heard of the problem, I think they should look online you fill find many posting complaining of this problem covering many model years other than 2011.

My 2010 Hhr service esc and service traction warning came on engine power reduced and had little brake control. I had to pull off as it reduced my speed and was hard to steer. Very dangerous. How can this be fixed it seems like there isnt a service stated in all the reports here.

I work two jobs just bought my 2011 chevy Hhr just over a year ago and started getting reduced engine power light and then lose power and have trouble going over 20 struggles to get to 40 mph I have 3 young children that ride with me and there safety is numbe one and if I can't trust my new vehicle then how can I trust chevy.

I start my car and go to pull out onto the road and there was no power steering which could have caused me to wreck. The power steering light came on. I pulled over and shut the car off and restarted the car. Same problem. Very very dangerous!!!.

The contact owned a 2008 Chevrolet Hhr. While driving approximately 50 mph, the vehicle veered to the left and crashed into the front end of a truck. The driver was killed. A police report was filed. The vehicle was destroyed. The contact stated that the VIN was included in NHTSA campaign numbers: 14v047000 (air bags, electrical system) and 14v171000 (electrical system). The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 315,000.

Power steering goes out while driving. This is a recall item on the 2008 model year, needs to be a recall on 07-08 years also. Inside door handles brake, making it impossible to get out of the call without rolling down the windows. Both are broken on my car. Been to many chevy Hhr forums and this is a common problem. If you lose power you can not get out of the car.

We were on vacation and I was traveling on a road at the posted speed of 30 mph. I was going around a bend and immediately my power steering light came on, there was a chime, it became very difficult to manage the bend I was going around and I hit a light pole damaging my front bumper. At that same time, my mhp and rmp needles began bouncing back and forth and the car was "jerking". I turned the car off. It was still drivable, but within a few seconds the power steering light came back on, the needles bounced and car jerked. I called gm to see if there was a recall on the power steering. They informed me that there were several gm power steering recalls on several years of Hhr, cobalt and saturns. They all have very similar power steering mechanisms. However, my year, 2006, was not on that recall. I have researched and found thousands of people with 2006 Hhr's complaining of the same issues but not understanding why that year is not included in the recall.

When notified regarding the recall of the vehicle in April, I contacted the local Chevrolet dealer in upland California and ordered the necessary parts to repair the vehicle. I was told that the parts would in in the dealership within two months. Calling the dealer in may, I was told that the parts had not come in yet. Yesterday the car would not start due to the ignition switch. The car was towed to the mountain view Chevrolet in upland, where I was informed that they had no record of the parts being ordered, and that it would take two months to get the parts. I called Chevrolet customer service and was told that recall parts could not be expedited. It means I have to wait two more months to drive the car again.

Second incident dealer stated not due to recall but more of a common problem, however unable to replacate stall and deterimine where faulty wiring. Getting lots of error codes with no real cause as to why car stalls.

The contact stated that the vehicle was not repaired in a reasonable amount of time. The dealer indicated that the parts were not available. There were no failures the manufacturer was not notified of the delay.

While driving down the interstate at 70 mph,I had a warning light and the display read svc esc. Shortly after, the power steering display came on in the vehicle. I then immediately lost control of vehicle. It took great force to steer the vehicle off of the highway to a safe location. I then used the onstar service, they ran a quick diagnostic - result came back that they were unable to connect to the power steering system - the power steering system had lost electrical connection or had failed completely - they were unable to let me know without having it diagnosed further at a local chevy dealership. The vehicle was then towed to the local chevy dealer. They ran a diagnostic and found that my entire steering column needed to be replaced. They also explained that other models of the Hhr were recalled for the same issue that I experienced, however my model was considered "safe".

The ecm came on with no warning causing the vehicle to veer off the road to the right and skidding this happened three times in the past year which is scary at best also there is a smell of exhaust and fuel in the cabin.

Lost power steering very hard to turn steering wheel.

The esc light cae on and it became difficult to steer, turn, and jerking when I apply the brakes. I've taken my Hhr to the dealership on 3 and 4 of April 2014 for software update. Back to dealership on 7,8,9, for computer, however there was no additional charge. 17 April same issues as the 3 rd. 21 st to tweek the esc problems. On Wednesday 3/19/2014 I was foced to purchase this Hhr that I didnt want. I drove off orr lot n it was pulling to the left bad, n was jumpin all over the road. I told orr bout it next day, n was told im stuck wit the car. Kept getn pulled over by police, on Monday 4/30/14 sheriff pulled me over cause car nearly went into ditch, he told me n my bf that this car is a road hazard n dangerous, for the manufacture to fix the the problem or put me n another vihicle. Took it back to orr n they wldnt even look at it!! I ha, so he got a truck. Ve a 3 yr old lil girl n if we have accident, someone will pay! the right front tire is wore on side only, front pops, motor shakes, and u can smell foul fumes comin n car. I wanted a Dodge truck, not the Hhr cause I knew something was wrong wit the Hhr, my uncle done the same thing n it never cld b fixed, so he got a truck. This needs to b fixed or put me n a truck, if have accident, there will b trouble. Theres too much wrong wit this car, it needs to b totally recalled in my opinion, or lawsuits b piling up!! thank u n please respond ASAP, my lil girl life cant b replaced, or n e one elses life either.

This has happened a few times with this vehicle, usually at speeds in excess of 50 mph. When being cut off by another vehicle, hitting the brake hard and steering away from the offending vehicle cause the Hhr to fishtail and get very squirrely. It just starts going back and forth in a rocking motion and only settles down by taking my foot off the brake. It feels like the car could easily go into a roll over. I have had it inspected by les schwab and they replaced the struts and shocks, but saw no real problems. This latest incident occurred many months after that work was completed, so that apparently was not part of the problem. It will also occasionally give me a shimmy in the steering wheel when decelerating from a moderate speed. However, that does not occur most of the time. . . Rotors appear to be fine.

I have never received a recall notice relative to my car and feel that I should have. What options do I now have ?.

Tl- the contact owns a 2011 Chevrolet Hhr. The contact stated that twice while driving approximately 50 mph, there was an abnormal noise and at the same time the service traction and the service esc warning lights flashed randomly, the vehicle suddenly reduced speed and hesitated as if the vehicle may stall. The acceleration pedal was not responding each time the failure recurred as the vehicle jerked voilently and reduced speed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer more than once and they were not able to replicate and diagnose the failure. The dealer test drove the vehicle and found no failure and had the vehicle for a week. The dealer did not send a technician from the manufacturer as the condition continued to happen. The vehicle was continuing to ride extremely rough, hesitated and constantly reduced speed with no warning. The contact indicated that upon turning off the vehicle and restarting the vehicle the computer reset the vehicle and then the warning lights went off but the failure may recurr. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacture was notified of the failure and they provided no remedy. The approximate failure mileage was 65,000. Dyd.

My car started with the ignition switch back in October with the key not shutting off the car and having to disconnect the battery to shut it off, took it into the dealer and they fixed it, but now things are getting scary. Every other day my car is telling me that the abs systems needs fixed and that the traction control needs serviced. The breaks were replaced in December of 2013 and we were told that there is nothing else wrong with the car and now this. . Took it back to the dealer and they informed us that there is nothing wrong with it, but the lights come on and go off for no reason. . The passenger seat belt locks all the time and even after you unlatch it, it stays locked for some time. I am so frustrated over this issue and can't get any answers on it.

The electrical system in the car has shut down and has caused my power steering to go out while I am driving. It dings so I have some notice. But none the less really scary and very hard to turn going 20 mph. My brakes are very hard when this happens. My thermostat/ coolant information is currently displayed as dashes (----) across my dash, making this really difficult to know if it is hot or has run out and my ac is connected to this also so when it decides to work my ac will work. It will turn off and on while driving too. My mph reads my speed going 20 mph over what I am actually driving. My car has completely shut off while driving. The check engine light comes on and off making it more difficult to get codes.

My 2009 Hhr has what is referred to as the may 15, 2014 gm tail light malfunction. The malfunction is caused from faulty wiring and causes the brake lights illuminate without touching the brake pedal and they remain on while driving. This malfunction also disables safety features like electronic stability control ¿ which tries to correct for skids ¿ and panic braking assist, which is designed to make sure the vehicle¿s full braking power is being used in an emergency. It also disables the cruise control and the traction control. In 2014 g. M. Said it knew of hundreds of complaints and 13 accidents associated with the problem. I have had several near accidents and several issues of road rage from other drivers since my Hhr began the malfunctioning in February 2014 which is when I first contacted gm to get it fixed. Since then I have filed complaints with the NHTSA, the federal trade commission, the state of wisconsin consumer protection agency and gm but have not yet had anyone step up and fix the problem. Since the malfunction causes the bcm to lose memory with the brake positioning sensor I did take the vehicle to a certified gm dealership and had them re-learn the memory between the two. This solved the problem temporarily and lasted about two months. I cannot afford to have this done every two month as a solution. Gm needs to be ordered to fix the issues correctly before someone is fatally injured.

I,was driving on the fwy!lucky on the exit at ramona blvd from the 605 fwy my car power wheel star to turning hard to turn right and the light on the panel show power steering and lucky me! I,manage to turned very hard but,I did turn the wheel and park my car on shoulder, I,turn off the car and turned on again and the wheel turn soft again!so I,cut drive safe to my home from there!!but I am afraid going to the fwy again!!this happen 01_14_2014 please give to me any feedback from this matter!!scare driver. . While driving my Hhr ss a service esc message appeared in the dic along with a chime like the dinging of no seat belt. Then a power steering message came after that. When this happens my steering wheel locks up and is hard to turn. I have heard that some of these steering columns have been recalled! why not the Hhr ss!! I have been told that it is the angle position sensor and the entire steering column has to be replaced! when this first accurd my vehicle did have a warranty but they said that because it was deemed an angle position sensor that warranty would not cover it even though the whole steering column has to be replace because of it being a ss. This is a major problem that I have seen alot of Hhr owners are having and this should be recalled!.

Please include repairing this issue in the recall of 2010 Hhr vehicles. This is the most recent of multiple incidents where the electronic stability control (esc) activates while traveling straight on dry pavement at speeds between 15 and 30 mph. As a chime sounds, and a message is flashed on the display, the vehicle briefly loses steering and pulls to the right while brake is involuntarily activated. On this occasion, the servicer found the female connectors to the abs speed sensor were not making proper contact. He crimped the new ones tightly when installing the replacement ends. The service advisor admitted that my car is not the only one with this issue, he had seen this problem repeatedly. After turning the car off and restarting, the car continues normally. Fortunately, this has not yet caused an accident. The dealer has variously attributed the problem to mismatched tires (replaced with all new), bad hubs (both replaced), bad speed sensors (replaced), bad alignment (fixed) and a wrongly calibrated steering position sensor (re-calibrated). The vehicle has been towed, repaired repeatedly, and the problem is back again.

I was driving the car got up to 25 mph and the steering went out, the car was hard to steer I turnaround for home. I turn the car off took the key out of the ignition put it back in started the car up and it work for one minute and went out again.

When I parked my car in the driveway my keys got stuck in the ignition and I couldn't turn my car off. I had to get it towed to a dealers who replaced the ignition. The next day my security light went on so I took it back to the dealers they we're very busy so they checked to see if my keys were programmed then the light went off so we thought it was ok. I left the dealers and within 200ft my Hhr stalled and doors locked with me inside the vehicle. I called them back with my cellphone from inside the car then the doors suddenly unlocked and I was able to drive back to the dealers. They gave me a car to use. I left my Hhr there so they could hook it up to the computer to see what was wrong. Alot of codes came up they said but they cleared them and said they reprogrammed my keys. The only code left was a icp code but they said I didn't need a icp panel so I took my car back. When I came out of work at 1am I unlocked my car and started my Hhr up. It stalled immeditatly. With the keys stuck in the start position I tried it again after about 10 min and it started up and I drove home. I called the dealer again and they said bring it Monday again but they cant lend me a car until its fixed or promise that they can fix it. I tried to start it now and I can but I really am afraid to drive it but I have too to bring it back to the dealers. Very scary and bothersome thing. I increased my insurance and will be only taking sideroads until someone figures this out.
