My 2007 Hhr has made noise while driving since I purchase the car. Every 6-12 months it seems that this car needs new brakes I have had the vehicle since 2008 and had to replace the tires twice due to bad traction. Recently I had to replace the stabilizer bar which was the reason the car made noise while driving, I know that chevy is aware of this problem, but to continue to tell customers that it is nothing wrong with the car. Three week ago when putting on brakes the anti-lock brakes kick in and cause the car to tail spin and inturn I end up in the guard rail. I really this that this vehicle and alot of issues that when not tested before consumers really started buying this model. I have spent alot of money out of pockets for this car, tires for this car from sears run $150 a tire and the stabilizer bar cost me $325.

There appears to be a large amount of cobalt and Hhr owners with complaints about suspension clunking noises. Research shows there is an issue with the stabilizer bar parts and also the intermediate steering shaft. These problems occur at many intervals of mileage ranging from 10,000 miles and up. Gm has since sued the manufacturer of the intermediate steering shaft for those replaced under warranty equaling $30mil. I am unlucky as my vehicle was out of warranty (3yr/36000 miles) and could not get any of my suspension and steering problems fixed by a known issue from gm. They have stated that the intermediate steering shaft is not a safety concern. Now, if a part that is vital in connecting the steering column to the rack and pinion system is not a safety concern, then I believe gm executives are more concerned with cost of doing the right thing than safety of their customers. These are parts that keep a vehicle from flipping over during sharp turns at highway speeds and that keep the car traveling in the direction the operator determines using the steering wheel. After replacing the parts to correct my issues, the problem has re-occurred. The parts were not changed so even after "fixing" it, it would eventually return.

The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Hhr. The contact stated that the vehicle makes a loud noise when driven between 25-30 mph. He took the vehicle to the dealer several times and they replaced the front passenger side stabilizer control arm; however, the failure was not corrected. He took the vehicle to three other service centers for diagnostic testing and they confirmed the stabilizer failure. The contact took the vehicle back to the dealer and they stated again that the front stabilizer failed. The estimated cost for repair was $300. The failure mileage was 26,533 and current mileage was 61,353. Updated 8/7/09 updated 08/11/09.
