Tire Tread/belt Problems of Chevrolet K2500

The contact owns a 2000 Chevrolet K2500. The vehicle has firestone steeltex radial tires, size lt245/75r16. On August 6, 2007, a 24-inch long strip of tread separated from the rear passenger side tire. The tire blew out on August 8, 2007 and caused two rear windows to shatter and damaged the front passenger side of the vehicle. The contact has pictures of the tire and vehicle. The dot number and speed were unknown. The current and failure mileages were 20,500. Updated 02-01-08 updated 02/01/08 the consumer stated the speed was between 5 & 10 mph approaching a stop light. Blowout of bridgestone dueller at 693, lt285/75r/16, dot no. Ejlfccb2501 causing loss of vehicle control and $4,000. 00 damage to truck. Near total loss of vehicle control causing vehicle to leave roadway.

Thread separation on three of four original equipment lt245/75r16 steel tex a/t 10ply tires 2replaced 6-02 1 replaced 11-03 firestone dealer recommended complaining as company fails to do anything for dealer or customer replaced 3 tires on 11-4-03, and mounted new spare on grd to get 4 new tires again consumers need help in getting this corrected immediately.

While driving at 65 mph rear passenger side tire lost all of the tread. Several months later, a second tire on the driver's side lost all the tread. These two occurrences caused damage to the fenders on the rear and on some of the undercarriage. Dealer and the manufacturer were notified.

Tread separation and blowout on firestone steeltex tire. The tire was totally destroyed and could have caused a rollover if my travel trailer had not been attached. I was driving 60 mph on the interstate when a vibration started. I slowed down to 35 mph. The tread separated and blowout occured before I could find a safe place to stop. The tire was exchanged at a firestone dealer under warranty because the tire wasn't on the recall list. The damage to this tire was more than that of the Ford explorer tire tread separations that I have seen in reports. I have digital photos of the tire damage.

Consumer states that while driving at 70 mph, the driver's side rear tire blewout. The outer belt came loose from the tire and did extensive damage to rear side panel and small damage to back tail gate. Consumer had to purchase a new tire with insurance. Dealer notified.
