Vehicle would not start after parked less then 2 hours. The spark plugs worked fine, with sufficient spark. The compression was at a normal level of function. The problem was found to be the fuel injectors to be stuck in the wide open (full throttle) position. Which was causing the vehicle to be flooded, preventing ignition. After a long day of trying to find a reason, the cause was found. The problem was a metal retaining bracket for the wiring system that had worn through the coating of the wire controlling the injector position/function. This caused it to ground itself through the metal bracket, which is why it stuck in the open position. The bracket that caused the problem is mounted on the engine on the serpentine belt side, behind the belt. Between ac compressor and alternator. Solved problem with electrical tape on the damaged wires and bracket.
Experienced intermittent of power steering, lost steering control of the vehicle. Replaced rack and pinion. The vehicelk rack and pinion faield prior to receiving the recall notice. The driver's side power window motor failed, the alternator, air conditioning and windshield wiper assembly also failed.

Electrical components on car stopped working, and I was stuck in the middle of a busy road. Had to have car towed to my house. It turned out to be the alternator. What a hassle.
Consumer had noticed some electrical problems with altenator wich had to be replaced ones a year. Dealer wa contacted, please provide more information.
Vehicle will die in middle of the freeway with no prior warning. This makes it very easy to have a terrible accident. Took to dealer, and they replaced alternator. Consumer listed that there was a crash and property damage, however did not give any specifics about the accident, there was one person that was injured in the accident.

Had alternator that was rebuild. Alternator went out while vehicle was going 70mph with a/c blowing. Also, 5-6 miles motor kept cutting on and off, finally stopping. . No electricity was getting to fuel pump. Once vehicle cut off pump and brakes no longer worked. Consumer had to use emergency brake to help stop vehicle.
Since I purchased this car I have had to replace the alternator 3 different times. Not only that, but the length of time that the alternators last is shortening each time. I have searched the gm website for a possible solution and discovered that I am not the only one that is having this problem. When I purchased the car it had 29, 179 miles on it. The first alternator went out at 34,000 miles (the dealer replaced it). The second alternator went out at 65,000 (at a cost of $265). The most recent replacement was at 97,000+ miles. There was a possible fix posted on the gm website suggesting that it was a design flaw.
Vehicle had stalled out while driving. Vehicle was towed to dealership. Was informed the alternator caused the stalling. No indication of why alternator failed.
Alternator failed at 26,302 while my wife was driving the car, causing a complete electrical failure. The replacement alternator failed in the same way at 50,461 while my wife was driving at 70 miles an hour. Losing your electrical system while you are driving is dangerous. Both repairs were done by Chevrolet dealers. The original alternator was as defective as the replacement the dealer put on.
No summary listed for above vehicle.
I commute an average of 2. 5 days a week because I carpool. I do not think an alternator should have went out. The vehicle just went dead with no warning and the volts light came on. The weather has been in the triple digets this summer buy my carpool partners vehicle is a 1991 Ford taurus and her vehicle is running better than mine. That is spooky.

Alternator and battery failed causing complete electrical shut down. Mjs.
While parked consumer tried to start vehicle and vehicle would not start. Alternator went out twice within two years. Contacted dealer, and dealer replaced alternator, which was the second one to be replaced.
Vehicle's tensioner and power steering failed. The tensioner failed in the driveway. Other failed parts includes fuel gauge, turn signal switch, and alternator ( new battery required and vehicle was towed). These parts failed between 36,500 miles and 42,000 miles. Consumer disappointed with the low mileage failures of his vehicle.
