Gm safety recall complaint: I backed out of my driveway drove about half a block and smelled smoke; returned home, parked and saw smoke coming from under the hood. Raised hood and found engine own fire in small flames. I proceeded to pour a small bucket of water on the fire and it went out. Coincidentally, I had just recieved saftery recall notice 09047 from gm the same day, stating that the car could catch fire starting with the spark plug wires channel and beyond. I contacted the closest dealer robbins cheverolet and who told me to call gm because the car had already caught on fire. I proceeded to contact gm where I recieved claim number 71-100-902-8310 and was then told it would take 7 to 10 business days before they could get back to me and let me know if they would even pay for serving or even authorize a dealer to check the vehicle for cause. This is my only mode of transportation and I do not understand the lack of concern for me as a custmer or why getting the vehicle checked based on the recall would be in question. My complaint is the lack of concern and extremely long time frame invloved in getting authorization to get my vehicle fixed based on the safety recall. The recall letter states "if you notice a burning ordor, you should have your gm dealer inspect your vehicle immediately. "I followed the procedure only to be told policy dictates they have 7 to 10 business days before letting me know if they are even willing to have the dealer check the vehicle. And while this may be policy, 7 to 10 business days is a long time when you have go to work and this is your only mode of transportaion. I am disapponted in gm's handling of this situation and I feel the investigation and resolution are being handled poorly.
1997 Lumina has paint peeling on hood and sides of car. I have seen this on several other white painted Luminas in town and am concerned that this is a paint defect. This peeling process has been going on for some time now but has recently gotten a lot worse.
The paint is pealing off in large chunks on the trunk and side panel of the car. The paint was noticed to peal during extreme cold and hot temps. .
The paint has started peeling off the trunk and now progressed to the passenger rear quarter panel.
No summary listed for above vehicle.
The Chevrolet Lumina, 1996; poor paint job. The paint lasts approximately four (4) years and then it starts to chip and peel off.
Exterior paint , peeling , flaking , rusting . I realize this car is now 11 years old , but this problem started when the vehicle was only about 5 years old . The paint has peeled off in large patches in many areas of the car , revealing the dull gray primer .
In 2000 my white 1996 4 door Chevrolet Lumina started losing paint in various places and has continued to do so until now there are large spots of metal showing. With otherwise having a perfect car, this makes for an unsightly problem. Other people have to us similar stories about this year, color and make of vehicle. Is there anythiing I can do?.
For a long time, the hazard lights will not engage. Also the left turn signal will not work. I don't know if they are related. We had a "flasher switch" replace for the turn signal but it did nothing different.
No summary.
Carpet damaged twice, possibly caused by excessive heat from under vehicle.
The engine check light has come on 8 times, and dealer keeps replacing parts and problem still exists.
Windshield: dashboard angle and the angle of the windshield affect the driving visibility. A design problem which seems to be in most of the new vehicles . It really affects the ability to see.
The paint job is horrible. The paint is completely peeling off of my Lumina.
Gasket on the right side of windshield slid down. Oil indicator light came on after oil change, and despite following proper proceedures, can't be turned off.
Vehicle paint peeling on right rear fender.
When the sun shines the angle of the windshield reflects the dashboard making it difficult to see detail through the glass, due to design.
